The Spa is great.
The Spa was super-busy on Sunday - as a result all of the clothing hooks in the spa were full of the guests identical white spa dressing gowns. Having completed my spa session, I returned to my hook to find that a guest had absent-mindedly walked off with my gown - easy to do as there are so many of them there… but my glasses were in the pocket of the gown… I spent the next few hours wondering how I would drive home without my specs, and thinking how I would navigate the next 2-3 weeks without them while I order a new pair. I did ultimately get the glasses back 4 hours later - a guest handed them in (clearly she had taken my gown in error). The team were very helpful for which I am very grateful, but when my glasses were finally returned, I was in the Spa, and I asked the reception team to hold on to them until I had completed my spa session (for fear that they would disappear again) - I think they thought I was a bit mad… lucky I did, because my prediction was correct - my robe was taken a second time by another guest! They need to work out a system whereby guests don’t hang all the white gowns together. I spoke to another guest who confessed that she had put a gown on after her spa session and had found 2 mobile phones in the pocket - they weren’t hers, so she returned it… this must happen all the time.

The food, in the evening, was very good. The breakfast was ok. The spa treatments, spa area and spa staff were good. The wellness extension restaurant was light and bright and had lovely staff.
It’s soulless and lacking any style or finesse. The original building is depressingly ugly, the entrance is badly signed & hard to get into (door wasn’t working) and once inside it’s poorly furnished (uncomfortable seating etc) and some of the bar staff are miserable although in fairness I would be too working in there.

Lovely spa
Hotel cleaning service wasn’t reliable, had to chase twice for this to happen. They cleaned and never replaced towels which was disappointing considering cost of the stay.
Dogs are allowed but at a considerable additional fee, this isn’t clearly communicated by Booking.com

Sehr schönes Zimmer, modern, toll gestaltet. Zimmer lag in dem neuen Anbau. Auch der Wellnessbereich ist schön. Nettes Personal.

The historic building and architecture
The telephone in the room did not work. There was no lift to the room. You have to come down the stairs and to the reception if you need any information. Billing errors were made and staff was not apologetic and brushed it off.

Very beautiful building.
Staff lying because we had a baby.
We were told no tables in the may flower.
We were told not allowed to eat in the bar areas.
We were also told to eat in the fine dining restaurant we would have to pay for our baby as well at £120 even though he was asleep!
There was tables in the mayflower as I managed to book one for 20:30, but they new we had a baby by then and funnily enough they took until 21:00 to have the table ready meaning it was to late for us and our baby woke up restless so we ordered room service. Where are drinks were for gotten and the food certainly was not 5 star!!
We also saw two separate tables eating in the bar area when we were told we couldn’t!
I’ve never heard or witness in all restaurants I have eating in and hotel stayed in around the world! Actual 5 stars hotels! That we would have to pay for our baby who is asleep to have a set menu!!!
Felt very discriminated against for having a baby.
Would never stay here again based on this.

From the beginning the staff were incredibly accommodating and the facilities were outstanding.
No complaints. My partner could have done with some larger sandals but it is certainly not a complaint!

the staff were lovely in the restaurant and reception however even when i told the receptionist that we had not had a good nights sleep due to the level of noise she didn’t do anything. sleep is key especially when you have a long drive home .. very disappointing
see above . lack of concern over lack of sleep due to noise

Very limited variety of food at the breakfast in "Spatisserie" but fresh. It tooked an hour to bring a tea/coffe, yogurt with fresh fruits and a toast with eggs on it.
