A gem at the lovely & strategic location (Jesmond), for a very affordable price!
Nothing.
3.4
Friendly staff, lively bar.
Basic, clean, will definitely stay again.
Nothing. The decor is a little tired perhaps, but if you need expensive surroundings you pay expensive prices.

The staff in the bar were very accomodating and understanding about dietary needs. The location was good - access to metro, some shops / bars.
I feel as though a £50 deposit for such a run down hotel does not make sense.
The photos on the website did not match the room that I stayed in. The room was dated, dusty and dirty.
The curtains were stained and ripped. The room wasn't stocked (one teabag + one milk, per person for 2 days. One half used toilet roll. No soap etc. Broken hairdryer from the 80's). The shower / bath was cracked and sharp in places and missing a plughole...
The room was extremely hot all night, but I couldn't have the window open because of how loud the pub below was. The sound of glasses being smashed in the bin that was directly under our window in the early hours kept waking me up.
3.4
Clean, quiet & comfortable.
Base of toilet bowl was cracked. This is because certain people squat on the bowl instead of sitting!

the room i booked was a single room, on the first floor at the front of a busy bar area in newcastle, I was told it would not be so loud, but when i arrived at 8pm is the bar was in full on party fun mode, and I was not ready to have that directly under my room till all hours, as it happens I made a request to have a quieter room, and they had one at the rear on the second floor for me, Simone the receptionist was very helpful and friendly, breakfast was plentiful, and an option for a cooked breakfast for a small extra fee, discount drinks if wanted to guests, good warm shower with plenty of pressure.
the sacrifice of going to the rear 2nd floor of the hotel for a quieter room, was there was virtually no wifi, the signal was bad, BUT, given that I had a free upgrade, and got a quieter room, and i could simply tether to my phone was hardly a reason to complain, so really no problems, but just something to be aware of if you actually book the room 212

Clean and nice location
Mattress was so uncomfortable ended up with back pain. Shower water temperature suffers from bipolar. Hot one minute cold the next. It doesn’t regulate the temperature. The basin taps are ancient so be ready to get burnt by the hot tap as its not a mixer tap. Bdw u get no breakfast. Don’t be fooled. Get a bag with apple and biscuits.
3.4
Rooms nothing like those pictured, very basic, not the cleanest, low priced so guess you get what you pay for, just think its deceptively advertised. Breakfast is an apple a biscuit and a carton of juice. No heating on night and quite noisy. They also take a £50 deposit when booking in. This is returned after a room inspection when booking out.

Breakfast in a bag ,!!!,
Bit like school dinners… bottle of water ,apple, biscuit bar and a cake bar

Service, hygeine and homophobia against 2 males

It was a one night stay dropping my son off to university, all I needed was somewhere to sleep overnight after a 300 mile drive and return the following day. I did get the sleep but wouldn’t recommend it for anything other than that.
I was a bit insulted by the requirement for a £50 deposit for potential damage caused, there have obviously been problems there which I understand, I paid in cash to avoid a 14 day delay on repayment
Whoever installed the plug sockets should be sacked, the positioning resulted in only being able to plug in one thing at a time unless plugging in from the floor. All a bit bodge it and fix it.
3.4
Nothing only the location
Everything , the worst place I have ever stayed in very old, can’t be called a hotel the furniture is old no facilities , the corridors carpets were old and stinky the doors were old no lift available, the breakfast is a joke , and the price was over for what we got, the whole experience was horrible

The lady at reception was very helpful and cheerful, it was nice and clean and bed was really comfortable.
All the sidelights did not work in room, so had to do medication in the dark as only big light worked but I didn’t want to put it on as my daughter would have woken up. But apart from that it was lovely

We stayed in the ground floor room as there was know way of asking for a disabled room on Internet. I emailed and spoke to someone at the hotel who listened to our request and made it happen.
3.4
It was an easy check in and in a good area.
We had to pay £100 deposit for damages yet the room had cigarette burn marks on the blinds and broken wardrobe, broke light, missing draw etc. so not sure how they monitor any new damages from old. Also have to wait a while for my deposit back as it was in a hold on my credit card as it had said £50 so I didn’t have enough cash.

Location and staff were lovely
The rooms weren’t very clean, we found an old sock also navigating the building was a bit odd

Location / walking distance to Metro, restaurants, park, family member's apartment.
We bought location (area) at a budget price. Spent rather money on our Graduate. After being in Switzerland, France and in a London Airbnb, we realized that choosing accommodations in England the trade-off between price and comfort has to be very carefully evaluated.
Rooms are above a Pub, which we knew, but noise can last at least until 11 pm. Sloped floors, bathroom doors didn't close easily, lights in bathroom can only be turned on with strings - no wall switches, (strings are dirty), mattresses too soft. No hangers provided in clothing closest, no toilet brushes in rooms, Windows can only be opened slightly and no AC thus if wetter is hot rooms rooms have only a little desk fan. We stayed for the sleeping time only.
3.4
Free parking, staff were nice, TV was good, room was spacious, bed was comfortable and although I didn't use it, you get a discount on food and drink for staying there.
The room was too hot and it could use a fan in it, smelled a bit, my key card kept failing, the shower door was too close to the sink risky as the door is glass, the carpet looked a hundred years old, and people shouting in the carpark late at night and smoking below the open windows, overall happy these are just some pointers to help staff, overall great price and got me through the week

Basic, but good value for money. Clean rooms & great staff

Comfortable bed ,newly decorated room ,great price
Dusty ,bits of mop on the floor ,cushion on the bed had a hole , noisy despite being a back room ,disappointing that breakfast is now a bag of bits ,not sure why a nearly 60 year old has to pay a 50 pound bond 😀 😳

first time here , relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff
Room temperature was too warm,

Alright value for money and easy to get to location
Old fashioned and run down. Extremely noisy with bar underneath. Was unable to be in my room until after 11pm as it was so loud it was as if I was in the bar myself. Noise started up again about 10am too.
3.4
25% off in the bar, great location, staff happy to help at all times.
Room was a bit cold on arrival.
3.4
Room was perfect size, Breakfast kept me going all day and easy access to City Centre.
3.4
excellent location, great staff and windows that reduced the noise from the bar below.
bathroom door stuck and was difficult to get out of, but I raised this with staff in the morning and they said they’d be on it. quilt on bed was thin and not heavy enough.
3.4
There was no one at reception and the receptionist was off site according to other staff. We waited for more than 15-20 minutes. After a 6 hour drive we had no option but to leave and find other accommodation as we were exhausted. Since then we have complained and had no response from the hotel.

I liked that they have complimentary breakfast 👍🏻 staff are polite and very helpful

Whites Hotel in Jesmond has become my "go to" hotel on my several visits to Newcastle upon Tyne each year.
The hotel is lovely, very clean and fresh rooms with everything you need.
A special mention must be given to receptionist Angela, a lovely, friendly and extremely helpful lady. If you need anything sorted or advice she will deal with it quickly and professionally.
Jesmond is close to Newcastle city centre and buses run outside the hotel frequently and a Metro is within walking distance. The area has everything you would expect, nice bars and restaurants, Tesco, Waitrose, Boots and so on.
Young, well behaved students mingle with the older residents of Jesmond. It is a lovely place to stay.
Prices at White's Hotel are fantastic and affordable.
There was nothing I did not like or caused me concern
3.4
great bar
rooms a bit dated
