The staff were really friendly and welcoming, the location was perfect, and the breakfast was delicious. The room was fairly basic but met my needs, and was exceptional value for a solo traveller compared to other listings

The hotel is well-located - no doubt. The room was pretty big. The strong point is the free private parking lot because the public parking near the hotel was extremely expensive. The bed was huge. I would say that it was worth the money.
The bathroom was really old-fashioned. Something to improve: a kettle. It would be nice to drink some tea after hiking or skiing.

This hotel is a gem from a different time. The staff were genteel and obliging. Our room was huge, as was our bathroom. If you can overlook old carpets to enjoy antique furnishings, this hotel is for you.
Parking is at the back of the hotel, but it is free. Having to leave!

the location: right in the heart of Chamonix, you can’t be closer than this. 1 minute walking to Chamonix center bus station.
staff: the most amazing experience I’ve had in years of travel
room: the room is clean, recently renovated. I am OCD, the level of cleaning is very good. the staff offered help with all our questions and activities we had in mind
parking: the hotel has its own parking
others: dog friendly, and still clean. if you want to transpose in time, this is a vintage experience you won’t get anywhere else

Staff were lovely and hospitable. Our room was new, fresh and spacious. Close proximity to bus stops, shops, & restaurants. (Optional) Breakfast was an excellent spread and start to the day.

Excellent location very close to the conference centre (Majestic) and to everything actually.
Very easy access.
Very, very nice personnel.
Not necessarily that I did not like but it is "old school" decoration and equipment.
By going there, you accept to travel both geographically and to the last century!

really classic French hotel. traditional and comfortable. wonderful service

It's a 1914 building that preserves some of its Belle Époque charm, the well-preserved original floors and some original furniture in the common areas make you feel like you're in a movie. I loved staying there and was imagining movie scenes, balls taking place in halls with wooden floors and decorated bricks from the Victorian era. It makes you go back in time and imagine how many things happened there, including German and American soldiers who passed through there during the war. Very charming and clean building, our room was recently modernized and redecorated. Then you can choose your room style as they have modern or vintage rooms. Our room had a wonderful balcony overlooking Mont Blanc, not forgetting the bathtub with a window also overlooking the wonderful Mont Blanc. They have a nice game room with ping pong, pool, pacal and foosball. The ladies at the reception are very friendly and willing to help you with everything you need to have a good stay. And, of course, they speak fluent English. I really enjoyed the experience and I hope the hotel manages to maintain its original features.
It's not a negative point or a complaint. It is expected that a building over 100 years old requires maintenance and I imagine that it is not easy to keep a family business operating for so long without suffering the consequences of competition. The hotel has enormous potential to attract many more guests as it has a differential for preserving original features. I would invest first in the external area, recovery of pavements, sidewalks and gardens and signage. Later, in the internal area, I would gradually make improvements while preserving the original characteristics of the building as much as possible. With the advent of instagram, I would create an instagram page and rebrand the hotel as Vintage Hotel and collab with vintage niche content creators to promote it.

The breakfast and location were ok.
The room looked like a dirty picture from the movie THE SHINNING. It was horrible and totally different from the pictures on the site. It even smells like a dusty old place.

I picked this hotel because of the good reviews and it completely deserves it. Whilst the outside makes you think 'faded splendour' my room, including the bathroom, appeared to have been recently refurbished and were very modern and comfortable. Town centre location, free parking, room with a view of Mont Blanc, and exceptionally friendly staff who all speak excellent English (which is more than can be said of my French so it did come in handy), and there is someone on the front desk 24/7. Very good value for money.
There are no coffee or tea making facilities in the room, a kettle would have been handy.

I love the place and will stay here again for sure ! The two ladies at the reception are incredible - genuinely kind and helpful. Rooms are stylish and airy ! Location is perfect, right in the pedestrian zone, both Aiguille du Midi funicular and Montevers train station are within 10 minutes easy walk. Parking is behind the building, next to the public one.
Not even a minor remark.

Wonderful old building, yet the rooms are fresh and modern, including excellent bathroom.
Location is good, every room has a great view, although that could probably be said of almost anything in Chamonix.

Very nice and central hotel

I had the most stunning view from my room on 3rd floor I was not expecting to have such an amazing view of the mountains with a single room but woke up and felt like I was in a dream. I think the hotel is very good value for money I was looking for something affordable and comfortable, with breakfast and I think this definitely satisfied my needs, its definitely not a grand luxury hotel so if this is what you want then it's probably not for you. The check in and out times are better than others in the area. Location was perfect, very central. Staff were a delight.
Very very greatful that staff allowed me to store my luggage during the day after check out!
Would be helpful to have a path outside leading to the hotel door as it was a bit of a struggle trying to drag my luggage through the sandy gravel floor.
Bathroom shower could have a shower holder for the wall so that you can stand up and shower without having to hold the head.
A few light bulbs could be changed to make the room a bit brighter.
Would have been AMAZING to have a chair on the balcony so I could sit outside with the view and also some basic teas and coffee and water bottle given in the room so I could sit on balcony with a tea.
The above points are just me trying to help the hotel and not a complaint as I was very happy with the room!

very old hotel that needs refurbishment.
