A nice accommodation in Trou d'Eau Douce

Spacious room with a terrace. Big, a bit dated closet. Parking spot. Many shops and restaurants nearby. AC in the room. The owners were nice and almost always available at the reception or in the shop next door. The owners can also organize tours and activities in the area.

Parking in and out was quite a challenge as the gate opens directly to the well frequented street. We were staying in the third floor and carrying the luggage upstairs without elevator was a bit annoying.

The owners are very friendly and helpful, also they have a market below the residence and that’s great to buy some food and beers ... If you want to stay one or 3 nights it’s a good place. Around the residence you have a lot of restaurants and markets to buy some food. You are 15 min way from the beach.

Exceptional

I enjoyed short but nice stay at Golden Shell - the room was clean and tidy, the location perfect (close to the bus stop, church, stores), the owners nice and communicative. And Trou d'eau Douce itself is a really nice place to visit!

The owners were really kind, and always willing to help. The room was spacious and clean. Though the balcony was facing the street side, it was calm during the night. We had parking for the scooter inside the property. Possibilities to organize tours, transfers, and car/scooter rental. Truly recommend this place:)!

Was perfect place to stay for few days where I was all the time around. The hosts are extremly nice

The hosts ware extremly nice, friendly and helpful. They pay lots of efford that you really feel welcome and that they meet all your wishes. They offer affordable low budget trips all around Mauritius, car rental, transportation around and to and from airport. They also organised diving trip for me. The place was just near to everything; shops and bars, bus stop... all just across the street.

The place itself is quite noisy and busy during a day ( it calms down at night so you can sleep normaly), there are no nice places very near, the closest nice beach (in another town) around half an hour walking away or the island Ile aux Cerfs 5 minutes boat ride, but you have to pay 1000 rupies (21 € just for the return ride), or 750 if organised by the staff.

Well located, super clean and budget-friendly accommodation. The host family was warm and welcoming. Felt like home away home.

It is own by a friendly family. They run the convenience store on the ground floor. It is in the centre of the village and practical to take the boat for the Iles aux cerfs. There us a large roof terrace

It is extremely noisy. Street dogs barking all night. The room was small. Bathroom was big but needs se updating. Although it is walking distance to the nearest beach, it is not a nice one. You need to take the bus to go to a relaxing one.

I recommend it to you, couples, smaller companies. The accommodation is good value for money.

Central location. The building has a small mini market, greengrocer and smaller restaurants nearby. It is a good base for exploring the area and visiting the island of Ile aux Cerfs. Don't miss this island while you're there! I suggest going to the island from Jetty to Ile aux Cerfs the Golf Course and Ilot Mangénie. True, they’re not taking a speedboat, but the price is half that. On the island, however, you will find many opportunities. If you are a good host, the service is attentive. We'll be happy to come here again. The accommodation is good value for money.

Nice stay

Nice host, good location in the middle of the lovely town. Supermarkets, Restaurants, port (for boats to Ile aux Cerfs), all easy to reach. Busstop in front of the Residence. Bus 55 to Flacq, Palmar Beach. Nice and clean room, all good. Recommended.

The Greatest Paradise Holiday I Have Ever Experienced! Thank You! A Must Stay In Mauritius-The Best!

From arriving to departing, my holiday at Golden Shell Residence was exceptionally outstanding. The room was spacious, decoration beautiful, clean, comfy bed, powerful shower, great air condition. Aki was so helpful and his family were so helpful and caring, nothing was too much trouble. The Wi Fi was superb. Aki arranged all my trips and my pick up and departure at the airport. I feel adopted as part of there family now. The taxi day trips out around the island were Superb! by Rajen, his commentary was excellent! They are all my personal friends now. Who needs a 5 star hotel when a 5 star guest house is sufficient and exceptional value for money, with a loving family. Superb shop underneath the guest house with reasonable prices and lovely gifts and convenience food and drink. Lovely room service, extremely clean and a friendly smile each day from everyone. Fantastic location to village center and local beaches and boats to Ille de Cerf. I loved the turtles and fish in the reception area. Local restaurants available and eating places, i loved the Italian right opposite the guest house. This was exceptional quality food! and lovely people giving service to a very high standard.

I didn't like saying good bye! but I know I will be returning next year to visit my Mauritian Family and enjoying their Excellent! Superb! Hospitality. There wasn't anything about my stay I didn't like.

The room is decent, but the TV didn't work, the air conditioning remote also worked whenever it wanted, the toilet was smelly. The host is always busy, never pays attention to you, smiles, but in the end does nothing about it. It is not worth it. Doesn’t have change although the shop under the hotel is his. Very disappointed.

Best accomodation in Mauritius.

Best accomodation we had in Mauritius. And by far the cheapest (i was a bit suspicious for that price before we came:) and we stayed at 4 places (Flic, Biches, Mahrebourg). The room had a great character, not just boring basic furniture (other places). We had a room with a tiny balcony (trees view with birds and bats + fresh air), i guess rooms without a balcony might not be as lovely (don't know) but there was a communal roof outside of other rooms. Trou dʼ Eau Douce itself - also positivly surprised - normal village (more history i would say) not like touristy souless Flic/Biches (bit empty in our covid visit). Beaches - just walk east/north - beautiful hotels/resort design etc. Belle Mare beach (bus/taxi) - 1 of most beautiful for us, good snorkeling. Good value offers from a manager.

Shop downstairs was a bit overpriced but there is plenty of shops around (and i know it's not really a hotel issue/but they are connected).

Very nice accomodation with a good price

Acki and his family are so nice and kind and they have always a smile in the face. The accomodation was very clean and comfortable. Aircon was working well and also the shower. There is nothing to complain. Parking spot is small but acki managed it well. I can say, is really a nice accomodation. Thanks. Gerald Austria
