Convenient location, friendly staff, clean, and safe.

Lovely welcoming staff. Beautiful communal setting, with a wonderful swimming pool and cooking area. Drinking water readily available. We were also given wonderful fresh fruit which had fallen from a local tree on the morning we were there. The place is in a great location.
The bed needs to be replaced. The mattress has sunk and is now a v shape.

Location is good, host very helpful and friendly. Recommend for staying in Santo Domingo.
My room was close to wc and the smell was not nice, but not for long, so its fine.

-Francesca was so so friendly and helpful (thanks again Francesca)
-Good location for walking to main areas
-We timed it perfectly for the military parade- great experience
*This is no reflection of the guesthouse- just something for fellow travellers to be mindful of. We got a local taxi to the guesthouse from the airport (all ok). Ordered an Uber to return to the airport when we were leaving- the driver had just set off when he pulled over and told us to cancel the trip and pay him direct. He spoke no English and we speak little Spanish so this was via google translate on his phone. It was an intimidating situation- especially if it was to happen to a lone traveller. And it ended up costing us more than the original uber fare? We have since heard it is a common scenario in the Dominican Republic sadly. Take Francesca up on her pick-up/drop off service if I was you*

The hosts are super helpful and nice! They gave a nice introduction and lots of good tips that helped us enjoy the city outside of the typical touristic experience. Location is perfect! Good Wifi for working, maybe suboptimal for videoconferences.
The rooms are next to the common area, where the pool and kitchen are, so it can get quite loud when there's a group of people. You can hear people talking over the phone, etc.
The main issue is the humidity inside the rooms. You can tell that they do quite some maintenance but there are no windows in the bathroom and it is a very old house, so just be aware of that.

The Guesthouse is a real little paradise! I love that place, the pool and in general the atmosphere! It's a good place for solo and couple travelers in the same time. The people who work there are total friendly and caring. Thanks!

Amazing staff! Peter was really friendly and helpful! The air conditioning is really good and powerful! The location is amazing - it's in the middle of Colonial Zone and super safe! The room was really quiet although the streets are quite noisy on the area. Would definitely stay there again!
Shower did not get too much hot water on the first day, but it might be because we seemed to be the only guests on that day (it was Christmas day). On the next day more people arrived and shower was working fine.

A little pool in the middle of the colonial area - what do you want more???
My room was at ground level, spacious, nice little details and a good shower.
The owners are amazing friendly and helpful.

The atmosphere in the guesthouse is really nice and the staff very friendly.
The beds were not very comfortable and we also had some mosquitoes in our room.

I stayed for five nights in this little oasis on the edge of Zona Colonial. Because of the pandemic I had the whole place almost entirely to my self. 2 nights there was a couple, and another night a solo traveler - so it was quiet and an easy place to relax. I imagine if all the rooms were full it would be less calm and relaxing, but still a great place.
My room was comfortable, and rustically stylish. The bed was made out of bamboo - maybe homemade, a lot of the furniture is - and was comfortable, but squeaked a lot with the slightest movement. It was just fine for a solo traveler, but could be noisy for a couple... I loved the bathroom counter and sink, and the shower was spacious and a cooling, refreshing treat after a hot day in town.
The central garden, patio and pool is reminiscent of a Moroccan Riad. The gorgeous tile-work adds to that similarity. I brought a yoga mat and this shady, tree-lined space is maybe one of the best I've ever practiced in.
The pool is delicious in the early evening - almost big enough to swim, certainly deep enough with enough room for water exercises.
Outdoor kitchen is well equipped, there's plentiful cafes nearby - but also nice to eat meals "at home".
It's easy to walk throughout the entire historic Zona Colonial from here - and it's close to a taxi rank at the end of Calle el Conde to access further afield. With Francesca's encouragement I was able to explore the Metro & Teleferico and the Botanical Gardens. If you are in Santo Domingo on a Sunday morning I recommend the farmer's market in Chinatown for some tasty treats.
The drinking water dispenser was upstairs and kind of a pain to refill containers for guests. Minor, but the only thing I didn't like!

Friendly, informal, great ambience.
Pool is very small for swimming.

You can’t get any more central in the Colonial Zone than La Choza. And, rooms are away from the street, so it’s quiet. The owners are very nice and helpful, and there’s a nice sitting area around a small pool in the courtyard.

Great location, very central and close to everything. The design of the place is very hip and nice, great atmosphere. Francesca was incredible! Helpful and super nice!
The bed isn't comfortable and the pipes are old so you can smell the sewage :/
