Incredible views of Acadia while sitting on back porch or on the rocks. Our family loved using the kayaks and relaxing by the water..dinner on deck nightly.
Very clean. Kitchen well stocked for cooking.

Had an amazing time! Beautiful scenery and location! Host was very attentive and house was well-equipped with everything you need for the week.

The view is great. Lots of space inside. Fully stocked kitchen. The kayaks were easy to get in the water and fun to paddle around. Everyone had a great time. 15 mins to Acadia visitors center. 10 mins to food shopping. If you like crab rolls you have to try YU take-out in Hancock.

This is a great family place! All is as advertised and commented on by other vacationers.
Note the shore is as pictured. Rough and stony!
We have 2 grandchildren: 8 and 11: new to kayaking! What a treat that two of the 5 kayaks available were two passenger! My complaint: the cockpits are bit small for us 6’2” 70 yr olds, so…I landed in the water attempting to exit the kayak I was in. All part of the adventure. So well equipped, boots, life jackets, paddles; all added a wonderful dimension to our stay!
A small point but..it rained like crazy the morning of our departure and I was able to back our van into the garage for dry packing
Wonderful quiet location, not much wave action but a gentle shore and wonderful view!
If you are ok with the location, it is a wonderful place!
Be ok with the location: 30-40 minutes to the prime locations in Acadia and Bar Harbor, but… away from the madding crowds and near fantastic Lobster Pound Restaurants, Try them all!
Spacious, bright, well equipped, great deck and boats!
Worth every penny!

The property was a perfect place for an extended family vacation to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The house was full of all the amenities we needed! The view from the back deck was breathtaking and the house felt secluded. We enjoyed use of the kayaks and even saw a bald eagle a couple of times. We enjoyed the house immensely. Thanks for a great time!

This beautiful cottage on the water was well stocked with everything. The newly added 3rd bathroom was a welcomed surprised. We took advantage of the provided kayaks to explore the Narrows and view the Harbor Seals. A great generational family vacation!

This home has an incredible view, and was a perfect fit for our family of six. The kayaks were wonderful for exploring, and the long private driveway was perfect for morning runs before our adventures in Acadia. We loved the ‘quirk factor’ of the house and appreciated how well-stocked it was! It is definitely a special spot, and one we would love to return to.

We are a group of older couples from different parts of the country who get together once or twice a year. This time oir destination was Maine and BHVC was wonderful. Multiple locations, in and out, for different activities and conversations. The deck is perfect too. The kitchen is well supplied for when we wanted to cook in. The game table was very handy for our obligatory jig saw puzzle. Having a fire on one of the cool rainy days was very nice. All this with beautiful views from inside and out. There was plenty of parking for all of our vehicles. Coincidentally, this place is great for getting around on a knee scooter since I severely fractured my ankle a couple months ago. Getting into and around the house, even out to the deck, is quite easy. A wonderful place and a wonderful stay.

Stunning views of the ocean and mountains. Very quiet and private. Close to Arcadia National Park. This is exactly what we were looking for. Very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return next year.

For a girls reunion which we do yearly, this house was perfect. Upon driving down the driveway we loved the privacy of it. Upon approaching the house, discovering the view was thrilling. The first thing we noticed after entering was just how well equipped this house was for any eventuality including emergencies. It was spacious, clean, with awe inspiring views. There was nothing about it we didn’t love. There was enough chopped wood to last an entire winter. We experienced a late season nor’easter while there which was thrilling. Being confined to the house for a full day presented no problem at all. A tree had fallen across the driveway but the house manager was there pronto and removed it with no issues. Would definitely return again, maybe in summer next time although we thought it was perfect now. We do recommend the Stephen King tour in Bangor during your visit.

The View Cottage was perfect for two couples who have been friends for 30 years. We stayed in the 2 bottom floor bedrooms. Spring weather was expected and we did get that. Our arrival day was wet than the next days were beautiful. We hiked in the park and photographed the Milky Way 2 nights. We drove to Island Falls on Monday for a perfect day with the local folks and watched the total eclipse of the sun. Rainy days came again later. The storm was blustery and wonderful. We did have a great time!

it was wonderful. big, very very clean and classy. Easy to heat with just the fireplace (from big storm, electricity was down for two days!) Well designed ! Kids fit in easily. Grandparents fit in easily. Stephen & Stacy fit in easily. Trenton is a fine location for quick access to Mt. Desert Island. We definitely recommend the place ! Oh, I could mention the generator, which powered the place.

We stayed here in November and had the best time. The house was perfect for us, plenty of room, stocked with everything we needed and the view was amazing. It was a short distance to Acadia and we even had a chance to see the drive thru Acadia Holiday light show for the holidays. I would definitely recommend staying here and hope to be back soon!

The property is beautiful with breathtaking views. The home is large and accommodating. We enjoyed a wonderful week here.

We stayed here in November just after the busy season of the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property. The house and finishes are a bit outdated but if you can look past that, the view and atmosphere more than make up for it. We made a fire every night in the wood burning fireplace, the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need for home cooked meals. Waking up in the morning and seeing the sunrise was amazing, there is a great deck overlooking the beach and water! There is not much in the town during the off season for food, so you may have to stop in one of the near by larger towns on your way down. Overall we would stay here again and I would recommend for a family or larger group.

This home was perfection for our getaway. It had everything we were looking for. Plenty of room! Views with beautiful sunrises. Water at high tide was right below the deck. Wild life to watch. Great location for visiting Acadia and Bar Harbor. We will be back!

Sometimes "quirky" is a good thing!! Unusual layout but works well once you get the gang if it.....the deck is tremendous...great location..good communication with caretaker becauae of hurricane on aerival day delayi g us one day...downed tree blocking our path was immediately handled by administative assistant and owner..who called once we gained access to property..location is right where we wanted to be .. only negative was the popularity of the cottage making it hard to re rent !! Have a wonderful tume at BHVC...our thanks to everyone!

Our family of six loved everything about this place. The layout is funky and the lights are tricky, but that just added to the charm. Super well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, beach towels, even water shoes. They’ve thought of everything, not to mention the location. It doesn’t get better for sunrises, kayaking, or viewing all sorts of wildlife. Communication was excellent. We’d definitely recommend. You won’t regret it.

My family and I had an amazing stay at this house. There were 9 of us all together (6 adults and 3 children), ranging in ages from 4 to 60. There was plenty of space for all of us to do our own things as well as to come together as a big group. We enjoyed using the kayaks, and especially seeing the seals across the bay. We appreciated how well stocked the house was, especially the kitchen. The floor plan was a little funky but it added to the houses charm. I’d have to say our favorite part of the house was the beautiful deck overlooking the water. Overall we enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to visit this house again in the future.

The house was fantastic! We had a family of eight and there was enough room for everyone to have their own space. The house was very well equipped and beautifully maintained. Everyone loved the kayaks with the lifejackets and water shoes. The ping pong table was also a big hit. Sitting on the huge deck, you are right on the water with wonderful views of the western bay, the islands, and all the way to Cadillac Mountain. It was a perfect vacation home.

The experience of staying just at the waters edge with full view of the mountains is exhilirating! The location is perfect and the house is well stocked. It’s very private, but just a short drive from the park and stores, restaurants, etc. This is the perfect vacation spot!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful hidden gem. We booked it for the amazing views, and it did NOT disappoint! We found this to be one of the most relaxing vacations we’ve ever had and I think the view and sounds of the waves crashing onto the shore is one of the main reasons. The house has anything you may need, and then some! The kitchen is extremely well stocked! The driveway is about a quarter mile long and we enjoyed seeing the deer as we were coming and going each day. The location is perfect, close enough to Acadia and attractions, but tucked perfectly away and private. We saw a huge jellyfish that washed up on shore and found lots of shells at low tide. All in all, a great relaxing vacation! We would recommend to anyone!

This was the best place that we have ever stayed. We travel a lot. We did not want to leave. The quietness, water, weather, mountains in the distance was wonderful and relaxing. The house was well stocked. We grilled, played ping pong, kayaked and read books. Kitchen is great. Filtered water. Ducks, birds, shells, rocks and so on. Sunrises were majical. Close to Acadia.

Overall a great stay! The house layout was a little confusing, but it was roomy, well equipped, clean, with amazing ocean views and easy kayaking. We loved having the fireplace and firewood stocked. Would stay here again!

The property was great! You can not get closer to the water. Acadia is beautiful. The house fit us perfectly and the kitchen/utensils/ appliances etc. is the best stocked I have ever had. The kids had a blast playing ping pong, and my son fishing almost from the deck at high tide. Searched all over the town’s suggestions to spot seals and on our last night they were right at the house playing and bobbing around, this completed our trip. I will mention that if you plan on coming early April or before many things are still closed but you can find plenty to do in Acadia. Finally, the house was stocked of wood for us to utilize and we did so nightly, another highlight for my son! Thanks house for lasting memories for our family

This was a wonderful stay! Being right on the water was awesome and the sunrises were beautiful. The kitchen was well-stocked and there was tons of storage space. We were close to Acadia and Bar Harbor and loved our visit.

This place is a real gem! First time in maine the beauty is unreal. The house is perfect for the area! I would suggest hitting the grocery store and utilize the well equipped kitchen! Also, the ping pong table was the star of the show!!!

The location could not have been better. The house had everything we needed and more. The moonrises and sunsets over the water were spectacular. Excursion to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park were within easy driving distance. All in all we had the perfect get away and the wonderful sunny spring-like weather was the ‘icing on the cake’
There was one problem though, the oven was a terrible mess. It was so dirty and greasy that we didn’t want to bake or roast anything in it. So my sister in law and I gave it a thorough scrubbing. It now is sparkling clean. The rest of the house was clean. Somehow the cleaning crew must have consistently missed the oven. If it were not for the oven the cleanliness of property would have gotten 5 stars also.

My husband and I came to start our honeymoon. We enjoyed the views and coziness of being away from the hustle and bustle. The locals were very accommodating and we loved the small town feel of Ellsworth with the easiness of accessing Acadia and bar harbor!

The location of this house is amazing. We saw beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Just sitting out on the deck is so relaxing. We watched seals, deer and eagles. Even tho it rained for a number of days just sitting by the fire was wonderful. Can't wait to do it again.

Have been coming to Acadia for vacation for about a decade now. We not never been disappointed with any of the properties but always wanted to try a variety. After our stay at BHVC our search for THE ONE is over. This cottage has all we look for:
Proximity to Acadia National Park
Hearing ocean on the rocks and “right on the water”
Fireplace with wood
Well stocked (if not over) including Kayaks with paddles, vests, and boots, and ping pong table.
Have to dig for ways to improve…perhaps updating labeling of light switch control and drawer contents.
Will definitely be staying again.

We had an absolutely amazing stay. The house was extremely clean and had all amenities that we needed including a fully stocked kitchen (with lobster pot!). Our group felt extremely safe and secluded and the property was very easy to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
We will definitely be repeat visitors when we book our next vacation in the area.

Property is way off main road. Making it very peaceful. Went kayaking we saw dolphins , seals and Bald Eagle. Just before we pulled into driveway one night saw porcupine. Never seen one. The food was 5 star along with the service. We saw sunrise ( my daughter boyfriend) purposed. It made vacation x better. We did alot of hiking. When we returned our car we added 600miles . Thank goodness for unlimited milage. I would recommend this home! FYI...bring shopping bags. Grocery stores do not provide. You have to buy.P.S. Owner needs to buy softer mattresses!!!

This property is only about 30 min from Bar Harbor. It's right on the water. We saw seals, porpoises, and a bald eagle. We had fun walking the beach at low tide. It was a bit cold for us to want to use the kayaks, but what a great thing to have!
The house is large with an odd Floorplan. It kind of felt like a maze at first. There are 2 bathrooms, both on the 1st floor. The living room was nice and open with plenty of windows to take advantage of the view. The master was huge with a king bed with lots of windows and access to the deck. We had fun playing ping-pong in the garage. The only downside we all agreed on were the hard beds. It was tough to get a restful night sleep and many of us ended up on the couches.
All in all we would definately stay again, but may bring mattress pads! The view was what we were mostly interested in and we were not disappointed! Thank you!

We have vacationed at BHVC almost every year since 2006 with our children, grandchildren and other family members. This year we found the nice spot on the each to build a small fire. This year granddaughter Julia built the fire and made us "Somemores". This year my college friend from Ellsworth took us to the " Baseline" on the blueberry barrens near Cherryfield. Worth the trip!
