Warabino team was simply amazing. Everyone is very kind, gentle and proactive. They gave us a ride to and from the train station. That's an important point considering the distance from downtown. We had both meals, breakfast and dinner, with them. All we tasted was fantastic. The possibility to turn the public bath into a private Onsen when there isn't someone using it, it's another differential. The futons was soft and we had a good night sleeping. The heating in our room was the right way too. Surely we'll come back.

Good onsen with indoor and outdoor bath. The self-reservation system was working for us, while we not always were getting in in time we wanted to, eventually we always able to (you check card at onsen entry says "available", you flip a card to "occupied" and write time on the board until you planning to use it, 50 minute max) and it is all yours.
The dinners and breakfasts were fantastic. It is traditional dinner, you got about 8 different courses, some cold some hot. While we did not like 100% of courses we had all of them were excellently prepared and served, just not everything was up to our taste (turns out I do not really like horse meat sashimi :) )
The meal room is private, and view is gorgeous.
Service was to top notch. Wear yukata to dinner for extra point!
We got large basket of really good local apples at check in as a gift and there was green tea and sweets in the room as well.
Keep in mind, breakfast hour is a bit late so we had to skip 2 out of 3 times, but since its not a self served buffet no surprises here. Same for dinner, 6 and 6:30 PM is your only choices.

An amazing full Ryokan experience and a full 10/10 from me. As a foreigner who hasn't had a previous Ryokan experience, not too sure what to expect. But the rooms were extra spacious and comfortable, the staff were exceptional in their service and friendliness, the dinner and breakfast food was really good and generous, the private onsen on a first come first serve basis worked well without fuss and we had the opportunity to try out all 3 of the onsen, with our absolute favourites being the outdoor ones overlooking the Japanese alps. Gorgeous. The onsen themselves were modern and very beautifully done. There were small touches like snacks in the room, a full tea set with green tea, iced water. There was private toilet and sink in the room with baths shared. Beds are very comfy for me and I slept well.
Nothing at all. If I had to nitpick, having drip coffee in the room might be my suggestion to add.

Beautiful and peaceful traditional Japanese style ryokan. The ryokan is surrounded by beautiful mountains and nature giving such a wonderful relaxing feeling and view. The room was so comfortable and spacious, we were so pleased.
We loved how the staff took care of us, even prepared special gifts for our honeymoon :
fresh local grapes and delicious Nagano apples.
We particularly loved to dress in yukata, enjoyed the wonderful food and relaxed in the several thermal baths, even some private onsens !
The staff organized a complimentary shuttle to take us from and to the train station so it was an excellent stay and so convenient you reach.
Nothing, all was perfect

This was the absolutely best service I received from a hotel in my life. Because of a typhoon, we were 6h late for dinner and the check in. The staff was patient enough to serve us dinner, wait for us to finish, show us the onsen facilities and our room. It was midnight, yet they waited for us!
They even took us to the city the next day and rescheduled breakfast and onsen opening time, so that we can enjoy our stay despite of the whole drama with getting there.
The onsen themselves were amazing - all of the three onsen had different character and charm and you book them for 10-50min and enjoy them in complete privacy.
You bekomme your own beautiful ukata! It is very comfortable and with extraordinary design.
It was altogether extremely delightful experience - warm water, traditional Japanese architecture and amazing hospitality!
The soba in the dinner and the dessert were very delicious. The breakfast was also awesome with nice view of the garden.
Room was nice and specious. Sleep on the floor was more comforts than expected, the bedcover was very soft and pleasant.
Loved my stay and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to relax and unwind in a traditional Japanese setting :)
Well, this is totally our fault, but good to keep in mind:
We hot confused where this hotel was. We thought we booked a Ryokan in Takayama (the city), but it was in Takayama (the village). It is 200km difference, so keep it in mind.

This was by far the best Ryokan experience that we've had in Japan so far. Incredibly friendly staff, great location with beautiful bathing facilities and very very tasty food (I still feel bad about the horse meat though...). What more could one ask for? Admittedly, it's a bit off-track if you don't have a car, but they offer a shuttle service to the next station (Suzaka, not Suzuka ^^) so it worked out fine even for us. Thanks for having us, we'd gladly come back.
Nothing. ^^

The food! possibly the best I ever had in a hotel. that alone should be reason to stay here. also, the onsen were exceptional. Staff is fantastic. A strong recommendation!
WiFi isn’t great but wasn’t a problem for us. keep in mind that the location is a bit off the beaten track. not much activity in the area (which is also a good thing)

I enjoyed my time at Warabino very much. It's slightly difficult to access, but worth it. The room was very comfortable and the view from the window very pleasing. Onsens were also very relaxing, and the dinner and breakfast was top notch. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Lovely traditional Japanese Ryokan in the rural hills near Suzaka. Great place to relax and unwind in the onsens on the property. Can reserve the onsen for 50 minutes at a time. Really lovely friendly staff who are very willing to help with any queries. Traditional Japanese meals for breakfast and dinner were a great experience!
Quite rural which made it tricky to find anywhere for lunch but there were snacks available to buy at reception.

beautiful panoramic view, even better than you can see in the pictures.
lovely hosts, very welcoming! the food was great.
room was big with a beautiful view.
nothing.

Service and hospitality was amazing! The traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner that was included was delightful. If you're not a Japanese national or experienced with traditional Ryokan practices, go with an open mind and a big appetite. The staff was kind and understanding of our inability to speak Japanese and very patient through our stay.
There was a misunderstanding between what booking.com and our ryokan regarding the amount of guests. When we put in our search, it was selected and checked multiple times for 2 adults and 2 children ages 8 and 4. Still verified in our reservation but that did not translate the ryokan's reservation. On check out, we had to pay additional money dues one child not being on the reservation initially. This was not the ryokan's fault as they presented me with the reservation they received for my stay and our second child was not listed.

I liked almost everything about this place. The staff were very nice and accommodating. The traditional japanese interior is outstanding. Good view from our room, too. It was a Zen-like place where you could relax and keep calm. I loved the private onsens. The room is very spacious, comfy futon and comforter, and squeaky clean. Great value!
There was a mistake in my booking, I thought I already paid prior to the trip so i did not bring enough cash. The owner was kind enough to drive us to the nearest convenience store so that I could withdraw money. I felt happy staying here! :)
It was a bit far from train station for those who commute. But you can request for a free shuttle.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location and surrounding area are very beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, extra pillows and futons were available in the closet. We loved the multiple onsens. Due to covid, all of the onsens on site are operating as private onsens. Guests indicate the onsen is in use with a plaque and the doors have locks. The temperature of the onsens was very comfortable. Also really enjoyed the food here.
The rooms are not very sound proof. The group next to us was celebrating a birthday and little bit noisy, but they quieted down at a reasonable hour and this did not bother us. If you are a light sleeper, I would recommend bring ear plugs just in case.

Very authentic Japanese experience. 3 types of onsen. The dinner is an explosion of taste buds with so many variety and tastes served in small portions to fill up one's tummy. Breakfast is remarkable too. Staffs especially the manager and gentle old lady are friendly and eager to serve. Beautiful ryokan set against gorgeous background. Room has everything one needs. Sleeping on tatami is warm and comfortable in winter. Good wifi. Highly recommended!

The dinner was amazing, staff were so friendly, room was perfect and onsen was heavenly.

The staff were very welcoming and as helpful as possible even with communication barrier.
This is a lovely retreat space and the outdoor private onsen is divine for reasonable charge.
A public onsen is free of charge and also very nice.
For some guests the lack of English may be a problem, if staff Ando is not there. Perhaps a nice English welcome folder with map of area in English could be done.
Dinner option is only a multi-course meal which may be too much food for some..There is no lunch service but can walk approx 30 min to a local place.
