Very nice Tunisian style interior with unique room layout and good air conditing, simple but delicous breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, strong wifi, rooftop with scenic view of the city. Very quiet. Overall a very pleasant stay.
The hotel may be a bit hard to find (located on a small street with only a small sign), location is not ideal, but still only 15 minutes from the medina.

A beautiful and traditional building with gorgeous relaxation spaces and rooftop

the house is a mansion, precious for wall work, roof work, tiles and floor. it's a jewel, I hope tourist could enjoy the silence at sunset in the patio. just amazing, a jump in the past recommended highly.
unfortunately the guest house is located in an area that now is a bit deteriorated. the area is ancient, there's a strong heritage, but several building have been left to degradation. streets are dirty stinky full of rubbish.

Dar Hayder is an exceptional and lovingly restored palace right on the edge of the Tunis Medina. From the exquisite tiling to the exceptional welcome to the delicious evening meal we had, this is the sort of place you hope to stumble upon but rarely do. Jamil was a wonderful host, clearly passionate about his place and keen to share stories about its history. What a treat. (And they were very happy to have our baby there too!)

My hosts were super helpful and accommodating, saving me when my taxi from the airport ripped me off. Breakfast was a treat and my room was a delightful haven I didn't want to leave.

A beautiful, historic building. Highly recommended for the atmosphere and charm. Easy walking distance to the old Medina. Helpful and knowledgeable hosts who gave us local tips, connected us with car hire, etc. A very pleasant breakfast.
Small things would help - there was just one hanger in our wardrobe and only one towel in our room. But these are little details compared to the lovely overall effect.
A general problem for this area - there are a lot of street cats. I found it hard to sleep as one cat outside was yowling constantly. Not the fault of the hotel but if I came again I would bring ear plugs!

The house was beautifully decorated and the breakfast was good. The staff was helpful when we had questions.
We found that the hot water did not work, and the area was a bit noisy at night.

it’s a traditionally designed place and has relatively good facilities. water was hot, room was nice and comfortable, the terrace has a great view of the city and good to watch sunrise, sunset. owner Jamil was very nice and joined us for some nights for dinner. also left us to the airport while leaving. helped get a rent a car.
breakfast was decent but not having as much as a hotel. difficult to order food online and when we did we had to pay 20 dinar for delivery. other facilities I had to ask for it like fridge, kettle etc but when since I asked early I got it when I came so I was satisfied.

How authentic Tunisian the accommodation is. Rooms are large and offer all comforts. The shared space is generous and beautiful. Although in the middle of the city it is very quiet.

The hotel itself was beautiful and historical, from the early 1700s. Our stay included home-cooked breakfast with fruit, halwa, jams, cheese, tomatoes, a variety of breads, and more. Our host was immensely accommodating and responsive to any request and questions. The A/C was perfect and under our control. The local area has a number of dining options and is just a quick walk from the Medina, Kasbah, and Zeituna mosque areas. The rooftop view is amazing, with gentle wind, many places to sit comfortably, and 360º visibility of the city including the port! Very pleasant stay!

A sumptuous 17-18th century palace located in a popular neighbourhood of the Medina, near the wonderful Zaouia Sidi Kacem El Jellizi-Musée de la Céramique, It was restored to its former splendor by the Hayder family and is run by them with lots of love, competence and hospitality (and good english, french and spanish knowledge).
The living units around the patio have typically a shared living room and kitchen and two very confortable bedrooms with own bathrooms and all the usual amenities such as air conditioning, wifi, TV. an own historic hammam onsite and a breezy rooftop terrace with a glorious 360° view of the entire Medina and most of Tunis till the sea. In the night you can do great stargazing, the sky is clear and not light-polluted!
Then again the palace by itself is worth a long visit, each room vaulted and decorated differently with arabic stucco reliefs and writings, and of course the vibrant and colourful glazed tiles covering the walls, all handmade, all antique and unique. Walking through the galleries of the patio and the rooms is like visiting a museum, just that it is yours, for the duration of your stay. A truly magic experience, which you will want to extend or to repeat!
The only momentary downside was that during my stay there was still restauration ongoing in the hammam, so it was not yet functional, the kitchen was used by the workers, and the floor level of the inner courtyard was not accesible. Some of the pieces of the antique furniture were not yet refurbished, this is being taken care of.

Amazing interior, very authentic old, one feels like in one of the 1001 might fairytales! The hosts are incredibly friendly, supportive and simply lovely! They helped us when we needed smth and made our stay unforgettable. We felt at home and will visit again any time possible.
Only the bathroom facilities (shower, toilet) could be slightly better without necessarily be modern.

We really enjoyed staying at Dar Hayder, it is a family owned business and the hosts were incredibly kind and helpful during every step of our stay. It is located within walking distance to the souk which was nice. The Dar is very beautifully decorated and it was a treat to stay in a traditional Tunisian home.

The owner Mr. Hayder is a very nice person. Try the best he can to make us comfortable at his home. This is not a hotel.. but it is his personal home. If you expect to have facilities and services like a hotel then you will not find it. But if you like experience with great Tunisian hospitality then this is the right place for you.
A bit difficult to find it, but after all this is in the Medina
No parking facilities if you have a car
The room was cold until his son fixed up the heater almost immediately.
No shampoo nor bath Gel

Wonderful old and beautifully restaurated oriental villa in the medina. Very nice host who helped us with taxis and all our other touristic questions.
The room was very quiet although the place is in the middle of the noisy old town center.
The host speaks very good French and English.
the first time we had difficulties finding the place because the taxi driver didn't know how to go to the address. The host should have told us straight away hat to tell the taxi driver to get there.

Less then 3 minutes walk to the Great Mosque in the Medina.
The hospitality from Jamil!
