As always, the surroundings of the country park make this place special. The kitchenette is well stocked with lots of things you might need even down to teabags abd sugar by the kettle.
Great undercover seating and cooking area which now has a six burner stove and full size oven. Enclosed with canvas 'windows' in poor weather to keep you comfortable.
Cabins are cosy with little electric heaters and heavy curtains so dark if you want a lie in.
Huge comfy sofa, handy table and chairs and plenty of hooks to hang stuff.
The hosts go all out to make the communal areas festive and inviting and the loos and showers are no frills but alway very clean and functional.
The site is literally a stone's throw from the remains of the old military hospital and we did the tower tour. Brilliant views and well worth the 166 steps to reach the top!
Top tip: take wellies as the site can get a bit muddy/puddley in very poor weather. Otherwise the site is cleverly lit so you can safely get to and from facilities without lots of light pollution.
An ideal base for exploring the country park or venturing out to Southampton City for shopping and entertainment.
Unfortunately we booked NYE thinking it would be more chilled, being in the country park and assumed there wouldn't be any large groups staying. There was and having decided to set up thier 'party' in the covered eating area and make use of the great quality installed speaker system, meant most of the early evening was very heavy bass dance music, even in the cabins. In fairness, they didn't go on til really late but it kinda felt like the two older couples booked onsite had to just accept it. It also meant you walked through the racket to get to the kitchen facilities.
I felt sorry for the host who did their best to keep everyone happy and did reduce the volume but it was a shame as we had booked to avoid our noisy neighbours at home.

Cabin was cosy at night, the toilets, shower block were clean and loads of hot water .
Kitchen area was tidy and fully stocked with milk tea and coffee.
Bed was uncomfortable as the mattress didn't fit it's pallet base.

Beds were so comfortable . Toilets showers were very clean . Open cafe to make tea coffee as and when you wanted
It was a trek from the bust stop .. down a dark country lane .Was told by taxi driver not allowed to drop us off nearer campsite
4.5
The cooking facilities it was above and beyond.
Not having a mop in showers, it ended up being very dirty, and I would have cleaned myself before and after use.

I stayed as a single mum with my daughter. The camp had such a friendly wholesome atmosphere. The staff are brilliant and the campsite is kept very clean, with everything you would need to have a comfortable stay.
4.5
Such a friendly place to stay. The staff were so helpful and nice. The tents were comfortable and the general feel of the site was so relaxing. The kitchenette and facilities were kept really clean and there was always someone to speak to in the day if you needed anything else to make the stay more comfortable.
The only problem I found was that our tent was behind a big tree which limited our sunlight, and also our ability to see the children playing on the grass from the decking.

The property and the staff were excellent. Just a shame some of the other holidaymakers seemed to go out of their way to ruin it for others.

The location is great for camping, walks and some history. Loved our stay with the kids. Parks, train rides, cafe. All good and no complaints.
None.

we arrived thinking we had booked a bell tent was extremely disappointed that we had in fact apparently booked a cabin.
I have relooked through my booking and it still says I booked a tent.
The facilities and staff are lovely.
The surrounding area is fantastic, although lacking a pub or bar. the cafe on the park is not dog friendly which was a shame.
The cabin needs a good clean, a lot of cobwebs and smelt musty.

I loved the friendly and laid back ambience of the site. Our first glamping experience but certainly not our last!
My only concern was keeping a constant eye on my 2 year old as I wasn't sure how secure the perimeter if the site was. Plus any means to borrow a child gate would have been appreciated so we could keep the door open but the child in!
Plus please have glasses in the kitchen (plastic would be okay)

Booked our tent as a base to stay for a couple of nights. Laid back, well equipped site. Very relaxed. Owner around if you needed anything.
Good for our family and dog.
Easy to book, Hassel free check in.
Great site
Clean well equipped shared kitchen area with several fridges allocated to share between tents which was handy. Other than bedding and pillows, clothes and personal stuff we didn't need to take anything else. Really enjoyed the site and surroundings.

The tent was a bit moldy

Stunning location and great atmosphere.
We stayed in one of the wooden huts and the extra details like power sockets for usb was brilliant.
Each tent or hit has their own fire pit and decked area with tables
Super comfortable mattresses and the communal kitchen was fantastic

what a fantastic place, in the middle of a country park !! This place is ultra dog friendly and the staff are super top. The kitchen area is very good with free tea and coffee.
to be honest, for a camp site, there is nothing to be disappointed about. The initial parking is a bit confusing, but if you arrive early, just park in the park car parks and have a wander, then drive up to the camp site when they open.

I found the park extremely comfortable from start to finish. Just what was needed. If your looking for something different to do with your family I'd highly recommend 👌 pieceful loads of great walking spaces, clean tidy and overall perfection 🥰

The directions and instructions on the welcome text were very clear. The hosts were very friendly. The parking payment instructions were welcome. The toilets and showers were very clean. Constant hot water. The imitation wood burner stove heater provided good heating in the cabin. The beds were comfortable. The site is in the middle of a lovely country park near all amenities, the shore, kids play areas etc. Overall it was super value for the price we paid!
It wasn't actually a tent, although a cabin was probably better in the month of February! The site was very open to the public, adjacent to public footpaths. There were limited cooking facilities if it had been busy, which thankfully it wasn't. I would say basic rather than glamorous. Post code in the satnav took you to the police training academy next door! If we had prepared better eg wood, firelighters, maybe our own pot and pan then this would have been a great experience. Unfortunately we weren't so our rating is very good rather than excellent.

The few days we were there had a brilliant time away. Great country park to explore and just lovely atmosphere all round.
The hut/cabin we stayed in was great cleanliness 5* and we definitely will be returning when possible.
Not sure I can find any faults with out get away as for myself it was a great experience.

Jim was very welcoming and explained everything to us. Facilities ie toilets and showers were very very clean. Kitchen area was very good and had everything you need.
Inside the wooden structure was a bit dark. maybe paint the bottom inside white to brighten it up and the light was not very strong, but apart from that have no real dislikes.
4.5
The location and shared kitchen. And video of how it was made.
Needs lock on inside door

Stayed in a cabin with our dog, 17 month old and husband over a weekend in January. The place was absolutely perfect. The cabin was cosy and clean, the shower and toilet facilities were sparkling clean and the kitchen area was so thoughtfully set up.
The campsite itself is in the middle of a county park which was fabulous for a little one and a dog and it was only a short walk to the local Co-Op, pub and cafe.
So good that we have booked to come back again.
The weekend wasn't long enough..

Had a great stay... only concern I had when booking this at this time of year was staying warm... no issues there with heater and electric blanket....they provided... very toasty
Dog friendly
It was nice and quiet, very relaxing waking to the birds chirping in the morning.

Very pleasant stay would recommend, I will be returning.
Finding location as first time visiting.. not easy to find...
Sat nav struggled..
