About this cabin rental
Whether you are looking for a Vacation Cabin to unwind at the end of an active day outdoors, or you just want Peaceful Privacy and Relaxation, "Paddlers Retreat" is ideally located between Bryson City, the Tsali, and the N.O.C.
Inside the cabin you will find a well appointed kitchen with everything you require to prepare and serve your meals.
The open and spacious floor plan is ideal for entertaining and relaxation. In the Living Room, the Stone fireplace is the focal point.
The spacious living room offers a large leather sofa set that is ideal for relaxing at the end of the day...
For your entertainment, there are 3 flat screen TV's with satellite channels included. In the living room, there are assorted board and card games, and in the event of a rainy day, there is a Wii Game System.
The split floor plan does offer abundant privacy between the two bedrooms. On one side of the cabin, there is the Master Bedroom with King size bed (luxury linens and bedding are provided) and a private en suite bathroom. On the opposite side of the cabin, you will enjoy a "Jr. Master Suite" with a second King size bed, and an adjoining full bathroom. Each bedroom offers a 32" flat screen television with an extensive selection of satellite Channels to choose from.
The covered back deck offers several rocking chairs to relax and enjoy the views, enjoy a soak in the Sparkling hot tub, and Enjoy the ever changing beauty of the Smoky Mountains!
Outside: You may want to bring your favorite yard games and stores fixins - there is a large flat yard, and a Fire-Pit with (4) adirondack chairs
...The Private Nature Trail has been expanded/upgraded and meanders through the back acreage, and leads to a lovely flat area beside a Mountain Stream that is covered by a canopy of shade trees.
It is quite relaxing to just take a walk in the woods, and the Nature trail is a hit with 2 and 4 legged Guests alike!
For the more adventurous hikers, there are trails (off the property and over US Forest Service land) to hike the surrounding area.
On the covered deck, there is a Gas Fire Pit (a full canister of propane for each group is provided, plus what ever is left on the Fire Pit).
Additionally, the cabin now offers complimentary high speed Internet/WiFi! (The internet is best suited for emailing, social media, and browsing the web. Not for streaming)
Getting to the Cabin: Access to this private retreat is easy. Paddlers Retreat is located just over a mile from the main highway which is far enough to enjoy Peace and Quiet without "road noise" (it is so quiet, you could hear a pin drop). The road is not narrow or overly steep, and you do not feel as though you are "climbing the Mountain". Close enough to easily arrive at all the area activities quickly and without excess time in your car.
Ideally located between the Nantahala Outdoor Center and the Tsali Recreation and Mountain Biking Park, and Bryson City is less than 15 minutes away!
We offer a few tips and optional convenience services:
... Also available is our Shopping service. If you would like to arrive at the Cabin with your Groceries already stocked, ask for details, we will have everything waiting for you upon your arrival.
... If you would like to enjoy a Spa Massage Service at the Cabin, ask us for details - there are two independent providers/companies (it is a good idea to book in advance to assure availability). Your Professional Massage Therapist will come to you, so when you are done, they quietly disappear and leave you to relax!
... If your vacation dates are during 'Season' or Holidays and you plan to rent a pontoon or fishing boat, it may be a good idea to reserve in advance! Lake Fontana is primarily National Forest, Smoky Mountains, and Federally owned, so the Lake is never 'Busy', but the few available rental boats do get booked up.

Beautiful. Serene. Relaxing. Fun.

My main issue was that it I didn't feel it matched the description given by Vrbo or its' owner.

Great house for 2 couples in the Smoky Mountains. 5 stars all around.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay here. The view and the hot tub were great. I would definitely recommend this cabin if you are looking for a place that feels very private, but is still only about 20 minutes from Cherokee.

We enjoyed our stay. My husband's favorite vacation is to take a week off work, trailer the motorcycle to the Smokey Mountains and ride for the week. This was a great cabin. Loved that the bedrooms were at opposite end of the cabin. The trail was great. the drive way had a couple deep trenches, in which you needed to be careful not to drop a tire into A couple years ago we started using VRBO's as our search engine. It was a bit different with this cabin because it was managed by a company and not the owners. I did not get the warm and fuzzy that I have received from previous VRBO's where the owners were the contact.

We only stayed one night, but we enjoyed the quiet and rocking chairs on the back porch.

Excellent property for 2 couples. Very quaint, warm and inviting. Two king bedrooms each with its own bathroom was very nice. The outside porch had a great mountain view with rocking chairs and gas fire pit. This was a great cabin to come back to after the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad trip. Cabin was very clean with all the necessities.
Would definitely rent again.

House was fine, accomodations fine.
The view of the mountains was poor. Substantially different from listing. Trees blocked most of it

Paddler's Retreat served as a great base for all our activities for the week. The location is close and quiet. Close to NOC and Tsali and really quiet compared to other places we have stayed in the Nantahala gorge. Rental company is top notch.

Can't wait to go back, couldn't have scripted better weather, low crowds, great views, etc. The 'shoulder' season between spring break and Memorial Day is great! Yes, the driveway is a bit steep with a switchback but our pickup had no problem - slow and steady and you should be good even in a car. We had perfect cell service (Verizon) so we just turned the ringers and alerts off to 'disconnect' (and told everyone we were in the mountains and spotty service lol). House internet is satellite, and it is slow, so as the listing says - no streaming and basic downloads are very slow. But that was no problem for us. Grab your basics for checkin at the store in town and then go back - there were discount cards in the kitchen for our visit. The cabin is centrally located to so many things! It sits on a ridge and there are houses directly below but we rarely heard anything and enjoyed the quiet. If you are looking for a cabin with no neighbors at all, in the middle of nowhere, this isn't it. Were very surprised to even see fireflies in mid-April! We enjoyed it so much we didn't turn the TV on until the last night and we able to add extra time to our week stay because we just didn't want to leave. Then just after we left we heard about the elk heard that went wandering through downtown Bryson City and right past the bar that we had grabbed lunch at during a visit to town. Bummed we missed that! Kitchen is well stocked, dig in the cupboards and you will find what you need.

First impression was how wonderfully CLEAN this place was. We truly appreciated that! The layout worked so well for us being two couples. Well stocked with linens and toiletries, cooking needs. Super comfortable beds. It was cool out and we loved using the fireplace. Pretty view off the back porch, the rocking chairs were a nice place to settle and relax at the end of the day. Great proximity to Bryson City area where we spent our time enjoying all the sights and activities. This home is outstanding!

Private cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the beautiful mountains, but just 15 minutes from Main St in Bryson City. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed to enjoy our getaway - peace and quiet, comfortable accommodations, great porch, fire pit and camp grill combined with the incredible beauty of the surroundings, added up to the perfect way to escape the city. The management company was also extremely helpful and quick with responses. Very easy to check in and supplied a welcome book full of detailed info. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

This was our first trip to the Smokey mountains and this property was great. The hot tub and firepit outside were wonderful to have after hiking during the day. We really appreciated the ability to bring our dog Millie. The view from the back porch was the highlight for us.

Had a great vacation! Loved the view, hot tub, and fireplace. The cabin was clean and spacious. Only suggestion would be to have streaming capability (used our hot spot) and more cookware. There were only a couple of usable pans and very little cooking utensils. Overall great stay!

We enjoyed our stay! The king split plan was perfect for two couples. Cabin was nice and secluded only one on dead end road. Gravel road was passable with our mini van. Nice Mountain View across back deck, fire pit, charcoal grille, corn hole. Picnic table, hot tub. New appliances: dishwasher, washer & dryer, microwave.
Comfy sectional sofa & fireplace.
Beds we super comfortable! If we come back to this area we would stay here again.

We are seniors and appreciated the privacy and comfort of the property.

The cabin is an ideal vacation location. A little gentle rain was all the noise we had. Cabin was spotless and kitchen was perfect. We were a short drive to town and grocery store. Bryson City had all the places we needed to shop, and everyone was friendly.
At the cabin we grilled outdoors or cooked indoors most nights and made use of the hot tub every day. We had no internet issues and the tv worked whenever we used it.
This was such a relaxing vacation. We drove to several parks and dams along with a trip to the Cherokee Nation Museum. The driveway is a little steep, but our Honda Pilot handled it with ease. If you have a low riding car such as a Corvette, you may bottom out...not sure. The directions were easy to follow, and Steve from the management company was very easy to work with when we checked it. If you want a relaxing vacation with a great view, then please book this location. We had a fabulous vacation at the cabin.

One of the best!
We have rented many cabins over the years and this is one of our favorite spots! The owner have us all the info we needed to get last minute groceries and go right to the cabin. The cabin is beautiful! It was very clean and inviting and was perfect for our family. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the hummingbirds and many other varieties of birds that flitted from tree to tree right in front of us! Beautiful view of the sunrise! Everything we needed to make us feel at home was provided. The hot tub was especially welcomed at the end of busy days of gem mining, walking for hours checking out the sights, horseback riding, etc. Very relaxing! We will be back in the area next year and hopefully this cabin will be available again! We had a wonderful time!

A Lovely Home to Spend Time in the Mountains
We reserved this home in the mountains near Bryson City to spend time away in the North Carolina mountains. The property was well maintained and the few issues we had were handled promptly. Steve and the rest of their team was very responsive to our needs.

Great location and beautiful home

Nice cabin and amenities.
The comfort of the cabin was great. The driveway was awful especially after using it several times a day over the week. Also, the windows and blinds were quite dirty yet the cabin was clean and well maintained.

loved Bryson City
This was our first trip to Bryson City. We really enjoyed the area...the cabin was wonderful for 2 couples & we loved the secluded location. We enjoyed the train ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad & the town. We had great coffee at Mountain Perks & dinner at Anthony's.

The house was everything we wanted for a relaxing getaway.

Relaxation.
The cabin was exactly what we needed. Perfect place to unplug. Secluded enough that we didn't see anyone else until we ventured out. Close enough to attractions and places of interest within a 15 minute drive. We are already planning a return visit.

Clean and inviting
The property is easy to find. The driveway was a little tricky at first for our SUV, but once we decided to back in we had no problems. The home was very fresh and clean and provided plenty of space for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals and our daughters enjoyed the games and puzzles that were available. The beds were very comfortable and the property had nice views. We loved the location to nearby attractions! We would definitely stay at this property again!

Mountain paradise
Spent four wonderful nights here with family. The cabin was perfection! We've stayed together at many VRBOs and this one exceeded all of our expectations. From the location, to the views, the comfort touches and supplies. Even tasteful Christmas touches. We'll definitely remember this one.

Great place to stay
Loved staying at this property. If you are not used to Mountain roads, the road to the cabin could be challenging, so try to arrive before dark. After the first trip up the road, I had no problem. The trail that is shown is not what I found. If not careful, you could slide off Mountain. Other than these two issues everything was as listed for this cabin. Thanks so much for letting me stay here because we had a great time. Wish it had been warmer so we could have sat outside.

Paddler’s Retreat
Great place. Loved sitting on the large covered porch in the morning watching the fog drift over the Mountain View. Same in the evening sitting in the hot tub and playing corn hole on the porch. Also, plenty to do and not far away. Nice place!

Great honeymoon spot
First class operation from booking all the way through the stay. Paddlers Retreat was everything the listing/ pictures showed and more. My now wife and I were thoroughly impressed with the accommodations. Special props for the most detailed and comprehensive “binder of things” we have seen at any of our stays at VRBO properties. If the Great Smoky Mountains area is on your list of places to visit, this should your “home base”. It was clean, comfortable, welcoming and centrally located for everything we were looking to do. We didn’t have enough time to accomplish everything, but this will be the place we come back to when the time comes to do so. Thank you

Very Relaxing Cabin and Environment
The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The back porch afforded some spectacular views of the distant mountains. We didn't go down to the stream often only because it was a bit longer and steeper than we expected. This was a very private cabin; we never encountered any neighbors. The location was close to Bryson City and Smokey Mountain National Park. All together it provided a very relaxing vacation.

Perfect mountain view close to NOC
Wonderful property very close to the Nantahala River activities and a short drive to Bryson City. Spacious for a family of 4. Very comfortable beds and nice showers (with doors, not curtains!). Had all the supplies needed for light cooking. Great view from the hot tub. We'd definitely rent again.
2.5
The house was well appointed and everything we needed was present. Washer and dryer were convenient and worked well. All dishes and pots and pans we needed for cooking were present. The house interior was comfortable and homey. The property was peaceful and secluded, and the views were stunning. It was easy to see the property owners sweated the details with thoughtful touches throughout the cabin. And the very informative welcome book. The gravel driveway is a bit steep and with some ruts. But we managed it in a van with some TLC. Highly recommended and would stay there again.
