Amazing experience, kind people, great food.

We did not know what to expect when booking a room in a castle during winter time, especially as the price was more affordable or on par with other accommodations in the region. We were given an upgrade of our room upon arrival which was a pleasant surprise. We received a quite big, beautifully decorated room with a very comfortable armchair, and with a bathroom a couple of steps down the hall, which was not that big of a deal, especially when you think that you are in a castle, and castles did not have toilets in the room. Also the bathroom was modern, warm, and super clean so there was absolutely no problem on that end. It is still private. The location was very good for us as we had a plan to see Schaffhausen and Rheinfall and this is just 20 min drive away. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant which was excellent as well as the wine which was from a winery below the hill. The hotel/restaurant staff were super kind, they really added a little extra to this wonderful experience. In the evening we enjoyed being in the courtyard, enjoying the silence and the view of/from the castle, it felt like we had it for ourselves. We would gladly come back, hopefully someday we will.

Highly recommend this beautiful place!

Everything was really good, not thing to complain about at all: clean, comfortable, high standards all around, delicious breakfast, spacious room with good facilities. We enjoyed it a lot and would highly recommend! Staff was friendly and accommodating, especially the male receptionist/waiter (not sure his official title nor name but he seemed to be ‘everywhere’) was very service minded and made an extra effort to ensure everything was in order for us and double checked to meet our needs.

excellent weekend break

it was near to the location we needed to be and its location is great, very quiet surroundings. The kitchen is excellent, breakfast is prepared fresh and served ( no buffet ) - excellent service and verf friendly staff.

the bathroom is not in the room, the are however designated, so you aren't sharing yours with others.

Exceptional

A quaint place in the Swiss countryside. The crown jewel is the staff - very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is rich and comes with home-baked bread.

Staff are awesome, dinner was amazing and the chef was very accommodating to ensure my children all had something they loved too eat. Room was very clean, sadly the double bed in my room squeaked a lot and myself and my husband did not sleep very much. My children had an excellent sleep and have asked to go back again. Breakfast was of very good quality and our complaint about our bed was taken on board with sincerity. All in all an awesome place to stay and feel at home. THANK YOU

We loved our short stay. A fairy-tale like atmosphere of the castle, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast, quiet, cosy place. There was no toilet and bathroom in our room, we had to go down the stairs, but the kids loved it. Knowing what it is to keep the castle like this warm and safe I think that the staff has done an amazing job. Highly recommend this place to feel Swiss countryside atmosphere and to spend some time before going to the waterfalls nearby.

Superb

Nice place, friendly and professional staff/owners. Delicious dinner. Good beds. Lovely atmosphere in a real old castle.

The adress in booking.com is missleading, as the Hotel is in WALTALINGEN, not in Oberstammheim. Your GPS will lead you wrong if you don't notice it. This is not a fault of the Hotel! You have your own designated shower and toilet outside the room, in our case on 2nd floor, while the room was on 3rd. Since you can only close the toilet from inside, someone else had used it and didn't clean it, which was not very pleasing.

cozy place for a wonderful spring break

Very friendly, helpful staff. Quiet location with a wonderful view. Our room is clean, cozy and has a private wc/shower in the room (roof floor). Excellent breakfast.
