Es un lugar maravilloso, el encargado siempre está pendiente, lo único fue un poco de ruido del segundo piso el primer día, pero nada que afecte la tranquilidad del sitio

We absolutely loved our stay at Las Mirlas. The staff/ owners are super nice and we had fantastic conversations with them (even though we barely speak Spanish). This was a fantastic hotel to disconnect from electronics as there are not any TVs and the wifi was acting up, which wasn’t a problem for us (mobile data available for research of activities). The breakfast was freshly cooked on front of us and plenty. Fresh fruit every day! The hotel is a few minutes outside of Salento, which was fabulous for us to relax after an adventure filled day.
The bathroom could have been swept a tiny bit more accurately and the mosquito net at the window could have been a bit more fine mesh.

The location is so dreamy. We only stayed one night, but I wish we had stayed a few more. There were little charms everywhere you looked and fantastic views. The houses themselves were beautiful and nestled into the countryside. There were hammocks, cards and games in the kitchen, outdoor seating.
Behind our room was a stream which sent us to sleep very quickly. The wifi doesn't really reach the rooms, but it adds a sense of detachment from the rest of the world which is an attribute.
The owner made us a delicious breakfast with local products and was so friendly. We chatted for ages and told us about when and how he built the eco lodge, using non-native trees from the area which is harmful to the surrounding ecosystem, so great to use for building.
The rooms are simple, as should be expected. We slept very comfortably and enjoyed hot showers in the morning. It's a lovely scene close enough to salento to visit, but not be swallowed up in the crowds there, and is also en route to the valle de cocora, which we did in the morning. I felt rejuvenated after one night.
The parking was very narrow and we had to reverse down it in the morning - which was a little stressful with a rental. We were the only ones at the ecolodge that night, so perhaps there are other spaces, but we didn't ask as we had arrived late in the evening.

The quietness of the location, the originality of the structure makes you deeply feeling Salento and Colombia. Wake up in the morning with sound of nature and the perfume of the breakfast cooked by Jon and Diony is exactly a real experience. La mejor experiencia que podíamos tener se Salento! Totalmente recomandable!
That was just so cool we did not want to live! Nothing to complain just go there.

very friendly owner and comfortable, clean accommodation
The breakfasts need to move up several notches - they were pretty much the same every day

Great talks with Didier, cuddling with the cat Gris and the wonderful nature around.

Clean and beautiful. The staff are very polite and friendly, good breakfast.
The only problem is that the property is out of the town and you have to take a taxi or walk along a dangerous road without sidewalks.

Great Host and Breakfast

Our host Didier was super helpful and interested. He likes music, travel and nature, like us. He told us about the history of the property. It was once farmland, but the family decided to give this hill back to nature, also for animals to pass to the river. You can walk in the forest behind the ecolodge and explore nature as it is owned by the family. In the morning Didier will make a super nice breakfast and he can tell you more about what to do in the area. He is an early bird so you can have your breakfast at sunrise and go! And he wants to travel to Europe next year, so if you are from Europe and have any tips for him, let him know! The property is nice and quit away from the city center, but still close enough to walk (20 min). We will hopefully meet Didier or Salento again someday!

The property is very pretty, well decorated with wood work. Also our host was very nice and friendly, he helped us organise activities in the region. Thanks to him our stay felt like staying at a friend place.

I loved absolutely everything! The location is amazing as it is in the nature, but only 20 minutes walk to the town. Las Mirlas has really beautiful exterior and interior design, comfortable beds, hot shower, lovely breakfast and truely the best service from both Didier and John. I felt very welcome and would love to come back again.
I loved everything about Las Mirlas

Great place to relax! Host was great and gave us a lot of recommendations of places to see in Colombia!

In the midst of nature with a beautiful view of the valley, lies this remote hotel. It kind of reminded us of a Hansel and Gretl house. The two guys running the place were super nice. Helped us plan tours and made delicious breakfast. There is a fully equipped kitchen and nice seating areas where you can sit and enjoy the view. The housecat Gris is super cute.
The room was very small and kind of damp. The bed was way to small for our long legs. The shower was fine but the drain was clocked, even the toilet didnt flush trough properly. And because you are in nature you have to like bugs. The city centre is a good 25 minute hike uphill, on the way back you can taxi along with a jeep.

The surrounding area is beautiful but would not recommend sleeping here as it is very damp
Very damp cabins, we paid for 2 nights but had to find another accommodation after 1 night as it was so damp we woke up with sore lungs. Also our belongings were all damp. Horrible place to stay

It was one of the best experience. The owner, John is super kind and helpful. The family makes you feel home. Delicious breakfast. I enjoyed my stay a lot.
The location is in the green area and that is also such a nice experience.
It is a bit far from the town but I never needed the taxi. It is up hill 15min by walk so not in the center but not so far either.

Beautiful views, great breakfast, helpful staff
Be prepared that if you don’t have a car you’ll need to get rides to/from town. Staff can easily help with that.

Nothing really.
- The bad experience started straight when we arrived. We had a night bus to Salento and were dying for a shower so when we arrived in the hostel in the morning we asked if we could use the shower, we had our own towels that we could use and we did this in many hostels before as we see this actually as basic service especially when you have shared showers. Anyhow, this was really not possible because we were not checked in yet. In the end the guy made some calls to 'el jefe'. First he told us some weird story about how we had to pay more because Booking.com made a mistake with the price. We did of course not accept and told him that this was nonsense and super bad service. In the end we didn't have to pay extra and we could use the shower after all.
- There were multiple family members of the host including kids with load tablets in the shared kitchen. In principle this is fine, when people are welcoming. In this case it felt more like we were kind of intruding in their house and really not welcome. Just the whole atmosphere in the shared kitchen / eating area was off, so we avoided that as much as possible.
- The breakfast was very minimal. The first day we had the 'luxury' to get yoghurt next to our bread that we had to toast ourselves because apparently that service was not included in the breakfast price. The next day we only got ontoasted bread and some conservable jam that had nothing to do with actual fruit.
- Maybe to some people the location is nice but to us it was just super unpractical. Since the atmosphere in the hostel was not nice we wanted to be in the town as much as possible, but since walking was pretty far we had to wait for a public transport car to pass every now and then (and not after 5 pm), or we had to pay a lot for a taxi.
- Finally, the shower drain was constipated so after a few minutes the shower would over flood every time.

Jeronimo was a great host! He arranged taxis for us because of our limited Spanish. He even got up and made us coffee at 5:30am the morning we left. Thank you again!! The views and overall location were both relaxing, and beautiful.
It was too far from town for us.it required a taxi to get to any restaurant or store however there was cooking facilities. The room was super small with no place to put things.
