All the bones are good. Bedrooms could use a fresh look.

The location of this property is outstanding. 180 degrees of water views and a beautiful deck to enjoy them! An easement to miles of gorgeous Maine beach is only a few houses down and that end of the beach was sparsely populated giving us lots of privacy. Walked to The Bait Shed for dinner one night —great spot, just use bug spray before you go to avoid mosquito bites. Thank you to Regina who was a thoughtful host. We appreciate you sharing your beloved family home with us.

The Waterfront Deckhouse was exactly what we hoped it would be. The 6 of us (2 parents, 2 adult children and their spouses) were looking for a location that was in a relatively quiet neighborhood, but within easy driving distance to Old Orchard Beach, Portland and Freeport. The property was exactly as described and the views were even more stunning than in the pictures. We saw lots of activity on the water and could have watched for hours. Great walking location too with quiet street options and beach access close by. The deckhouse provided everything needed to relax, rest, cook for family or access all types of activities nearby or a short drive away. We would definitely stay there again.

For us, it was paramount that we had a location that was tranquil and natural. This exceeded our expectations on our main focus and that cannot be understated. Thank you for providing a sanctuary to just experience nature in its full glory.

This home's views are amazing. You feel like you are viewing the whole harbor. Great to watch the boats coming in an out. Easy walk to the beach and town. Based on these two items you could give the home a 5 star review.
However like other reviews have stated - the home is very dated. Bring your own pillows! The house had absolutely nothing - we had to purchase paper towels, toilet paper, bath soap, dish washing soap, garbage bags, etc - all this for a two night stay. I would be okay with this for a week stay, but not for 2 nights.
Regina the home manager is wonderful and wants you to enjoy your stay, however the number of labelled instructions on EVERYTHING needs to be removed. We know how to turn on a light switch.
A few updates in the home and supplying basic essentials would have made this home a 5 star review.

The owner was great, check in was seamless. The location is outstanding, but the interior (except the kitchen) is very dated. The beds were uncomfortable, as were most chairs. Great access to the beach, excellent harbor view. With some simple upgrades this can easily be a five star property.

Location: 5++
Kitchen Amenities: (not sure what to call dishes and stuff) 3.5?
((Kitchen itself is great, good social layout with lots of cupboard space, but expect to improvise a little if you plan to cook a lot. Bought and left / contributed some measuring cups, paper goods, for example. ))
The 6 person limit is correct, since the Deckhouse is not a large home. Using the extra 4th fold out bed is a crowd.
Cleanliness: 5
Regina is more involved than most other VRBO. It is a beloved family home, older and with some of it's own quirks she wants renters to know about. It's location means there are some extra rules and regs, but well worth it for the view of birds, fish jumping, clam diggers, and fisherman coming and going from the harbor. With stunning sunrises *and* sunsets from the deck.
Easy, short walk to the beach. Even if you just want to go for a quick walk, it's right there and not a production to come and go.
Definitely check out the beach during low tide, too. You can walk almost across the bay.
Higgins Beach is nearby with great waves, Holy Donut is good stuff, recommend The Bait Shed which is an easy walk for great food and experience. Portland is an easy trip.

Amazing views! Even a day of rain wasn’t an issue as you could sit back and enjoy the rain and lightning over the water. The property is very clean and everything you need is available. Regina, the host, is always on standby should you need anything or have any questions. The location is ideal as you get great views of the river and can walk to the beach in 2 min (300 yards away). Restaurants and shops are also very close. It’s a lot more quaint and relaxed than OOB. Great place for a vacation

Good to be back in Maine.lived or traveled to Maine for65 years.

Located just steps from the water where 15 lobster boats are parked, you have a 180 degree view across the waterway. This quiet location helps you enjoy perfect views of Maine’s sunsets and the spectacular rise. Fresh lobsters are sold the same day they are caught just a half mile down the street. An excellent restaurant is in the same location, which is a lobster ship harbor on a street that ends at the waterway.

Very nice, clean home in an absolute beautiful part of Maine. The marsh and beach were spectacular with a short walk to the beach. Sunrises were exceptional. All conveniences of home.

We enjoyed the views out all the windows. Nice bathrooms and kitchen. Easy access to lighthouses and great food.

The location of the house is perfect. Short walk to beautiful beach, close to kayaking, bird watching. The deck is wonderful with views over marsh and toward ocean. Kitchen is fully stocked, including lobster pot! Some needs for furniture upgrade such as beds. We didn’t use bedrooms downstairs, but beds there also soft and downstairs a bit dark for anther couple if splitting rental. We had a great week and would love to return!

The panoramic views from inside through the many sliding glass doors and the wrap-around deck are fabulous. However, it was unfortunate that outdoor grilling was prohibited. The 3 homes whose decks we can see from the property all have a grill on their deck or patio. The neighbor abutting has a large fire pit that was blazing away one night. The landlord’s statement that the “Fire Codes” prohibit barbeques rings a bit false. Also, the absence of working blinds makes it get pretty hot inside when a strong breeze is absent.

The location of this rental property is ideal. The ocean is 50 feet off the deck. 270deg views of Scarborough river. It’s a short walk to the beach and is very close to numerous restaurants. Our stay was very quiet with little more than the ocean and birds to listen to.

Perfect Shoreline Experience
Perfect experience along the shore watching the lobster boats come in and out of the bay from the deck.. Then just head out to the street and walk about 4 houses down to be on the beach/ocean. The community is quiet, yet restaurants easy to walk to, and Old Orchard just 2 miles away if you need some night life. The property is well kept. The owner had recommendations about bringing some items, and we suggest you follow them. The owner was fantastic, met us with keys, and gave us lots of good tips to enjoy the house, the bay, and the communities we planned to visit. 100% would stay here again.

4th of July getaway
Great location with amazing views from all sides. Plenty of room for a family of five both inside and outside on the wrap around deck A very short walk to the beach. A short drive to the downtown area. Overall a great beach house rental that made for a memorable family vacation. Mattresses could use an upgrade.

Excellent location great water views
Great location very close to an excellent beach. Views from inside and on deck were gorgeous. Kitchen was well stocked and very nice. Not being allowed to grill was disappointing but second kitchen downstairs made up for it. Handicap shower in master bath was perfect for my elderly parents. Only disappointment was the lack of blinds. The house got very hot when temperatures exceeded 85 F. But on the days that the temperature was below 85F, the ocean breeze kept the house comfortable.

A relaxing experience
The house is in a great spot. It was fun to watch the fishing boats come and go. In the morning the water was so calm like glass. Beautiful sunsets. The house was comfortable. The window are on both sides, which meant you could have a water view even on a cooler day. My only advice to future renters is to be aware that you cannot grill outside, per association rules. Also to make sure you bring the essentials with you ( toilet paper, paper towels, bathroom hand soap, trash bags, dish soap, laundry detergent) . We had a great vacation here, lots to do in the area, I would definitely recommend this house.

Neighborhood quiet. The beach is a short walk. It was relaxing which we all needed.

Relaxing
The house itself is nice. The owner will be installing new windows and shades soon, so it will be even better! But the highlight of this home is the deck. We are not too active because of health reasons, but were able to relax on the deck and watch the beauty of nature right in front of us! It’s a relaxing and healing place!

Very nice place
It was a very nice house with a lot of natural light. Regina, the host, was very helpful and the living space was kept extremely clean. The location is good, and everything was easy.

A sweet family home with amazing river views and great beach access.

Beautiful location. House is old and not in great condition.
During hot days there was no escaping the heat in the house. The deck is in bad condition as is the outside furniture. The kitchen is not well enough equipped to really cook at all. Bring your own linens and pillows if you are fussy about that stuff. And bring extension cords as the fans don't reach the sliders. Also, most of the screen doors are impossible to use.

Summer fun
Beautiful location; right on water to watch boats, kayakers, jumping fish. Walk past 5 houses to get to the path to quiet beach. Walk to boat launch, Stern Seafood, Bait Shed. House was very comfortable, clean and had great views from inside (lots of sliders) and out (great deck).

Loved it
Regina was extremely accommodating. She was prompt to meet us upon arrival, providing a thorough walk through the home and tips for local attractions. Our highlight was our second day walking to the dock close by to observe a fisherman who brought in a 600 lb tuna. Guy from the tv show Wicked Tuna was there too. Nice property we enjoyed Portland. Thanks Regina for opening your home to us. We enjoyed meeting you and know the home means a lot to you and your family

Hidden Gem on the Water
Our family of 8 stayed here for a week in August. The pictures do not do the views justice. You can see the water from all areas of the house. It is so quiet and relaxing on the point, we watched beautiful sunrises, sunsets and watched the boats come in and out. The porch is a great space to have meals outside and the kitchen/dinning room is large enough to host everyone as well. The walk to pine point beach is about 2 mins and you feel like you have the whole beach to yourself. The beach is beautiful and clean. When the tide goes out you can walk for a long time into the water. It was so easy to go back and forth to the house and the beach, I think that was everyone's favorite part. The kitchen is updated and works great, the only thing missing was a few amenities we assumed would be there but we managed. The house is out of the main area/touristy feel but close enough to Old Orchard Beach and Portland if you want to go into town you can. Our family absolutely would come back.

June Weekend
The only things we were disappointed with were not being able to grill and not being able to go to the edge of the water. Neither thing was mentioned in the listing. Only found out after we booked and paid.

Clean, beautiful property with incredible location along ocean and close to Portland
This was a terrific stay along the ocean and just 20-25 minutes away from Portland! The owner was very pleasant throughout the entire process and took the time to greet us and give a short tour at the beginning of our stay. The house was spacious and had a gorgeous wrap around deck along the water. Kitchen appliances were new and everything was in great shape, including furniture. Overall, it was a great place to stay, ownership was very kind and easy to communicate with, and the property is certainly a spot we would like to stay at in the future.

Outstanding!
The view was beyond expectations! Lobster boats, sail boats, kayakers all quietly streaming past the open concept kitchen and living room, floor to ceiling windows. Clammers and bathers visible, but noiselessly enjoying the beach across the bay. A variety of birds including egrets, sea gulls and cormorants provided hours of relaxing entertainment for all. Our host, Regina, alerted us to the fact that there are sturgeon jumping in the bay throughout the day and evening. There were at least 20 sightings of these massive fish during our five night stay. As Mastercard would say… priceless!
The 7 mile long, white sand beach is an easy 5 minute walk away. The neighborhood is quiet and every home and yard is unique, adding another element of charm to this ideal location.
We ordered lobsters and clams cooked and were able to pick them up at “The Bait Shop”, which was less than a 5 minute drive away. We drove to the Audobon Center (10 minutes away) and enjoyed canoeing through the Marsh. On another day, we rented Stand-up Paddle Boards and spent a few hours doing an easy trek through the Marsh.
The home is clean and well appointed for dining in, which we did almost every meal, because who would want to leave this ideal setting. Regina, the host met us upon check-in and warmly made us feel at home. She was available during our stay and responded promptly to questions.
We’ll be back next year and we hope to make this home our traditional meeting place for family vacations for years to come.

The most beautiful view every morning and evening. Short Walk to the beach
Upstairs is wonderful
Downstairs could use some updating, but for the price and everything it was perfect everything we hoped it would be. We will definitely stay again. Regina, the owner is wonderful and easy to work with.
