About this cottage rental
A converted carriage house and former blacksmith shop with a rich history dating back to the 1800’s - fully updated with modern amenities and a splendid garden. This is a one level plus loft bedroom, ideal for those who have challenges with stairs. Centrally located near the Falls, Niagara Parkway, Niagara-on-the-Lake, casinos, wineries and the largest outlet mall in Canada. A great gathering spot in any season with a full kitchen, laundry and outdoor space ready to entertain family and friends.
This updated and fully appointed space abounds with character and was originally used as a carriage house for the owner's horse and carriage. In the late 1800's it was converted into a blacksmith shop by the Swedish born Otto Lofgren who also ran the forge down the road at the Queenston Quarry. Relics from his days of black-smithing have been found on the premises and the stone carriage stair out front bares his family name.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: this property being located on an historic crossroads has become a major entry point into Niagara. As a result, street traffic can often be very busy during the day but quiets down significantly at night.

Our stay was amazing. First, the pics of the cottage do not do it justice. The cottage was amazing, clean, charming and so comfy. It is very close to all the attractions. Just a few minute drive to the falls and Skylon Tower. We also drove to the Inniskillin Winery at Niagara On The Lake which was only about 20 minute drive. We had the most amazing holiday and would definitely recommend everyone to stay at this wonderful cottage.

The house was well equipped and nicely renovated. The proximity to a variety of parks and trails was convenient. The only down side was that street was busy and the traffic was noisy.

Lori and Darren were super accommodating and the property itself was beautiful. It’s very close to a lot of the Niagara tourist places, having anywhere be a short drive to get to. We went for a girls trip and the area felt really safe and the cottage was so cute that we took so many pictures. Will definitely book again!

This property is beautiful and we loved learning the history from Darren when we first arrived. We had everything that we needed and even a bit extra with the Keurig and supplies. The location was perfect for us and it was easy to get everywhere we needed to go.

Fantastic property and owners! Perfect location for Falls and wineries.

Darren and Lori were marvelous hosts. They answered all of our questions promptly and Darren greeted us upon arrival! The space was beautiful and had everything that we needed. The house was very near all that we wanted to see and do. It was located on a heavily traveled road and there was quite a bit of noise. The backyard space is a work in progress and will no doubt be super upon completion. We had a great time!

Great property with all the amenities needed. Quiet neighborhood with the exception of the big trucks during the day and a few evening noisy racing kids

The Carriage House was a dream come true. Beautifully appointed, extremely clean, well stocked with everything we needed and perfectly located for day trips around Ontario and into NY. The outside property is beautifully landscaped as well. Our hosts were awesome and provided recommendations for everything from places to eat to pet sitting services. A definite WIN!

Carriage house is charming & VERY clean. Darren (Owner) met us when we arrived. He showed us around the property, told us of nice restaurants around. It is on a busy street but it quietens down at night. We were allowed to sit by the fireplace of the (his) house next door because no one was there. We would go back there again. Thanks Darren & Margaret - wonderful lady who takes care of the property.

The Carriage House is everything it appears to be online, if not better. The hosts, Darren and Lori, were most welcoming, and met us upon arrival with a great introduction to the house and the area. The extremely well-provisioned and beautifully designed home met all of our needs as a couple (plus our dog) throughout our three-night stay. Though near the road, noise was not an issue during our November stay. It provides an ideal base for exploring the region, close to many activities and attractions, including the Falls, numerous vineyards and restaurants, and various Lake Erie and Lake Ontario historical sites and towns. We would highly recommend it.

Hosts were super friendly and responsive. Appreciated the early check in since no one had been there the previous night. The rental itself was sweet and well stocked. Everything worked well. We enjoyed two nights with our parents and were quite happy to arrive to the very comfy beds after busy days exploring the Niagara area. Thank you again! Highly recommend.

Great location. Hosts were amazing. Checked in on our visit for any needs. Family loved it.

It was a comfortable, two story loft experience. We enjoyed our stay very much. It was a rainy get away, so we didn't get to enjoy the outside private patio area. You could cook if you wanted to. We chose to explore the area restaurants. The hosts provided a number of suggestions which we took them up on. I would recommend this little charmer to others! With short drives it puts you close to surrounding Niagara-on-the-Lake, The Falls, and much more. Thank you to our hosts! (the upstairs T.V. had little connection so couldn't be used) I'm sure this can be fixed.

A lovely carriage house
This historical house has been renovated and looks great. Two bedrooms are great. The owners greeted us at the door and explained about the TV, WiFi and the marvellous gardens. Our small dog was welcomed and felt quite comfy. The street noise is fairly present. Lots of restaurants are nearby.

Convenient and comfortable
The house is exactly as pictured in the listing -- clean, nicely furnished and really well stocked. The owners are very easy to reach and respond right away, starting with a friendly welcome to the property. Darren gave us some restaurant recommendations and we were able to try one -- great food, reasonable price and very close to the house. All in all, the house is really close to everything we needed or wanted to do, so a perfect central location. Looking forward to staying there again next time we can make it to the area!

Getaway After Attending A Wedding
This historic property is the perfect setting to unwind and relax in. Pride of ownership shows the minute you pull into the driveway. We rented a car, location is ideal to take in all the sites of the region and still be away from it all. The characteristic cottage is very well cared for, clean and stocked. Traffic was never a problem for us. Would love to visit the property again when the gardens are in full bloom.

Great house
This was such a unique house. We loved the history. The renovation was great. It is on a very busy road. You can hear the traffic. But, it was also very convenient to the places that we wanted to go.

A Charming Winter Getaway
This cottage was an absolute delight. We stayed for 10 days and loved every minute of it. It is minutes away from Niagara Falls and about 10-15 from Niagara-on-the-Lake. The cottage itself is very clean and comes with everything you need and want. It is really beautiful on the inside and outside. The property managers are very friendly and accommodating and go beyond your requests. Highly recommend and will return.

Splendid!
We were greatly impressed by this property. It was a great opportunity to stay in a beautifully restored structure of historical significance. You can tell a great deal of care and effort has been put into every aspect of the property. The art and antiques decorating the rooms were unique. The selection of books and magazines was a nice touch. The heated floor in the bathroom was an added luxury. Most importantly for us, it is a dog-friendly property. We would definitely recommend staying here.

An exceptional stay
My husband and I booked this adorable cottage for our mini-honeymoon to Niagara-on-the-Lake and wow, it was nothing short of incredible! The property itself was beautiful, clean, cozy and comfortable, and Darren and Lori were an absolute pleasure. They set us up with every amenity that we could possibly ever need, even a shared garden where we could use fresh vegetables! The property was close by NOTL and all the wineries, but also super close to Niagara Falls. We had such a wonderful experience here and would 100% rent this property again on our next visit to Niagara! Thank you Darren and Lori!

One week in Niagara
The property exceeded our expectations. The home was comfortable and well maintained. We had everything we needed to have a most pleasant stay making use of the kitchen, patio and laundry. We used both the loft and the main floor bed rooms when our son stayed a few days. The gardens were really quite something. The rental helped us have a great vacation.
