About this house rental
We are pleased to announce this beautiful, rustic, four-bedroom, luxury mountain getaway home is NOW being offered at unprecedently DISCOUNTED rates—particularly mid-week!
Our very upscale, cedar log home is nestled in the prestigious, scenic Woodstock hamlet of Bearsville—home of the renowned Bearsville Theater, along one of Woodstock's most coveted, picturesque roads, and conveniently located within a minute’s drive of the famed Onteora Mountain House, the former majestic summer estate of Richard Hellman (Hellman’s mayonnaise), now a widely acclaimed bed and breakfast that is arguably the Hudson Valley's most sought after destination wedding venue. The home offers a true respite from today's hustle and bustle; set amidst nineteen totally private, wooded acres, surrounded by nothing but glorious, tranquil, and unspoiled nature, yet only minutes to the center of town!
The home features soaring, two-story vaulted ceilings, heavy exposed log beams throughout, custom-milled wide-plank heart pine and natural slate tile floors. It is elegantly, yet comfortably furnished in the traditional rustic lodge-style of the Adirondack "Great Camps." It has a lovely, cozy, screened-in porch and expansive decking front and rear. The home is perfect for vacations, holidays, family gatherings, lodging when attending one of Woodstock's multitudes of music, art, crafts, theater, etc., events, or just a much-needed getaway!
There are world class spas, including the award-winning Emerson Resort and Spa, heralded as “The Crown Jewel of Catskill Mountain Resorts,” and home of “The World's Largest Kaleidoscope,” just ten minutes away! A five-minute drive will take you to Kenneth Wilson State Park—featuring campgrounds, picnic-grounds with barbeque grills, hiking and mountain bike trails, swimming, and fishing lake.
Experience true world-class dining at one of the area's many fine restaurants, including, Good Night, Cucina, Silvia, Early Terrible, just to name a few. Bread Alone, Oriole 9, and The Mud Club, are all top picks for breakfast and lunch!
Outdoor activities abound! The area's beautiful lakes, mountains, rivers, along with outstanding art, cultural, and music scenes, provide plenty to do, whatever time of the year you visit.
SPRING and SUMMER, you may enjoy water tubing and fly fishing on the Esopus Creek, canoeing and kayaking on the Hudson River, hiking, rock climbing, biking, tennis, golf, horseback riding and so much more. A five-minute drive from Woodstock’s town square is the trailhead to the renowned Overlook Mountain Wild Forest Preserve, with its marked trails and glorious views of the central Catskills, Ashokan Reservoir, and Hudson River Valley. At the summit is Woodstock’s historic, sixty-foot-high fire tower, one of only five remaining fire towers in the Catskill Park. Across from the trailhead is Karma Triyana Dharmachakra—the largest traditional Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in the USA. For shorter hikes, a five-minute stroll from the center of town is Comeau Park, with seventy-six acres of meadows, woods, and stream-front, offering a beautiful, tranquil walk, along Sawkill Stream.
FALL is absolutely gorgeous; a great time to enjoy apple picking, pumpkin picking, pumpkin carving, and of course marveling at the incomparable foliage of the Catskills Mountains! October also marks the arrival of the renowned annual Woodstock Film Festival. The festival has drawn rave reviews nationwide from filmmakers, industry members, media, and film lovers alike. It has established itself as one of the top independent film events in the country, premiering exceptional films by established and emerging filmmakers. IndieWire has named it one of the top fifty film festivals in the world and Moviemaker included WFF as one of the “25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World.” The festival also features A-list concerts, parties, panels, and a host of additional innovative, and stimulating itinerary.
WINTER offers plenty; nearby Hunter Mountain, Bellayre, and Windham Mountain are a skier’s paradise! Recently celebrated our friend’s a fiftieth birthday at the house and had a wonderful experience. House is very spacious, very clean and well setup with everything we needed. Loved the large private property and how close were we to downtown Woodstock. What a charming town to visit. Excellent food, beautiful shops, many outdoor adventures to enjoy.

We had a wonder time at the property!
There were 7 adults and two small children, all with plenty of space. The house offers many areas to sit and have quiet time when necessary. A large, family style table for dinners or game nights with the family. The kitchen has everything you need.
While the property is remote, it's a short drive to a local store for groceries. But, if you're looking for a wider variety, the town of Woodstock has groceries stores, bakery, restaurants, bars and gift shops. All within a very short drive from the house.
Valerie, the host was excellent. Great communication and always available if I had any questions.
Great time, highly recommended!

The house is exactly as pictured. It was fully equipped with enough space for everyone to co-exist and have personal time. The property felt secluded even though neighbors were around and we truly had a great time. Will cook on that stove top any time!

Property was great and Valerie was very communicative. Wish that there was more than 1 bathroom outside the 2 bedrooms but all bathrooms were very nice.
House stayed cool even though it was hot outside but the bedroom upstairs got pretty warm.

We had a family reunion of 12 adults in celebration of my mother’s 90th birthday. Not only did it fit our large party comfortably, but was beautifully appointed, making it easy to prepare a fabulous, elegant celebratory dinner. We loved the home, the surroundings and the location! Hikes, spa, rail expeditions and more! Everyone agreed this house was a real find!!

5 adults and 3 children, ages 10, 11, and 14, stayed for 3 nights while visiting a niece who lives 15 minutes away.
we really enjoyed our whole weekend, and staying in Valerie's great log house made it special.

The house felt very specious, even for a group of 10 men. The main area was great for board games, cooking, meals, and generally hanging out. The kitchen is high quality and had all the necessary equipment for the four course meal we made. The balcony is also spacious, and close enough to the lawn that we could play lawn games like kubb while staying connected with the people on the balcony. The bedrooms and loft provided plenty of spaces for us to sleep comfortably.
If you're looking for a getaway in the Catskills, this house is perfect!

This is a lovely, large home, wonderful for entertaining a group. We had a three generation family stay and the home allowed for time together and apart, as needed. Valerie was attentive to a few concerns at the beginning of our stay, and was open to our suggestions. A great vacation!

Beautiful Log Home - Rustic but Luxe - Near Woodstock
Val and Rick's beautiful log home was the perfect place for our family reunion and easily accommodated our group of 12. The huge great room with vaulted ceiling and massive stone fireplace was gorgeous. The gourmet kitchen was perfect for our foodie group (amazing cooktop/double oven) and the open floor plan made cooking, dining, and relaxing a wonderful shared experience. The home is nestled among woods and mountains and yet convenient to shopping and hiking. Val was communicative and quick to respond to any question, and even managed to provide snow for a White Christmas!
Val and Rick have paid attention to every detail- linens, furnishing, lighting. The home provides the perfect combination of rustic and luxe. The gorgeous walk in shower with massive rain head was spa-like and a huge hit with the group.
We highly recommend this beautifully designed and appointed home for any group that appreciates quality and wants a quiet, inviting place to cook, dine, relax by the fire, and enjoy the surroundings.

A good place for the weekend
Impressive house with tons of room. Had a couple minor nuisances that were easily resolved. Property owner was very responsive and helpful. If they added a gaming type room or at least a pool table the property would be perfect.

Beautiful and wonderfully designed!
This is probably one of my top favorite places I’ve ever stayed in. Besides the beautiful grounds and landscape of the Catskills, this lodge was absolutely stunning and perfect!!! Can’t say enough good things about this place! It will transport you into vacation mode right away. I loved staying here with my 9 friends and totally recommend it for anyone who wants to have a great time away. The fire pit and the shower. So wonderful! And VALARIE is so patient and so kind! We only communicated via VRBO and phone but she was super responsive and so generous. Love the whole experience!!!

Woodstock Splendor
We just got back from an 8-night stay at this beautiful home situated just outside of the town of Woodstock. The home was incredibly clean, spacious and comfortable, and well appointed. The house is very impressive and as others have mentioned, the pictures truly do not do it justice. The bedrooms, beds, bathrooms, kitchen, main room, decks, sitting rooms, etc. - all extremely comfortable, clean and well-maintained.
Valerie, the host, was exceptionally communicative before, during and after the trip and conveyed from the outset that her top priority was ensuring that we were enjoying her home and the area.
I'd happily stay in this home again!

photos don't do this place justice
You know how realtors use camera tricks to make their listings look better than they really are? As we approached this Woodstock home, I worried that it wouldn’t live up to the beautiful pictures online. I was wrong. It is more gorgeous, inside and out, than could be portrayed on a website. We came to refer to it not as a home, but more of a mountain Lodge.
The interior of the Lodge is well appointed. The main space, consisting of kitchen, dining, and living areas is open and is spectacular. But our favorite little nook was the screened in porch — perfect for morning coffee.
Valerie is an attentive, but not intrusive host. She responded to our every question and request promptly and courteously.
The region is prime for exploration. Woodstock and Phoenicia, 10 minutes either direction from the Lodge, have quaint little downtown areas. The golfers in our group found two beautiful nine-hole courses to play. The hiking possibilities are endless, including wheelchair accessible trails.
I’m a wheelchair user, and I found the wheelchair accessibility to be strong in some areas of the Lodge and lacking in others. Make sure you discuss your specific accessibility requirements with Valerie before booking. I vacationed with an energetic and creative team around me, so I was able to enjoy the Lodge throughout the week. I brought a 5-foot portable wheelchair ramp with me, which proved invaluable. Valerie has now purchased the same ramp for use by future wheelchair guests.
One last thing — you will not be alone in the Catskills of New York. Be prepared to share it with turkeys, deer, rabbits, and even a friendly porcupine (look, but don’t touch).

Woodstock area
Beautiful home in a beautiful area. If you intend to stay definitely bring your own pots and pans. The pans there look as they have been used since 1950. Very very poor condition. Much of the dishware have cracks in them, Limited kitchen appliances, no blender no food processor. Oven appliances were additionally repulsive. For the amount of money spent you would think they would provide top of the line dishes, appliances and cookware. We own two homes so the recycling is different in each state. There was no information as to what was required for recycling and or garbage. So not to be charged per bag, which the homeowner charges, due to our lack of information given by the homeowner, we took all our garbage home with us and left nothing there. So be prepared to take your garbage with you. When we arrived the master bedroom had no hangers notified the homeowner and she sent someone up with additional hangers which we were thankful for. The homeowner provide one room with many games but all were incomplete and missing pieces so they were no use for my family. This home is definitely not worth the amount spent, for whoever they have caring for this home does not take into account the small details to make it a magnificent home to stay in. Next year will definitely look for a different home to stay in with my family.

Wonderful Family Getaway -11/10
We had such a wonderful time staying at this house. The house is designed so well and every little detail did not go unnoticed. Its so cozy and really great for large families. The family room has a beautiful fireplace and we all played board games in front of the fire on the massive coffee table. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beds were very comfy and the rooms were spacious. My father is in a wheelchair and the house had plenty of room getting him in and out of the bedrooms/bathrooms. The front door is accessed through a ramp, so it was extremely easy for someone in a wheelchair to get around the home. We loved this house so much! Thank you!

Lovely home for a group of friends
Our group (10 friends from NYC) stayed in this home the weekend before Thanksgiving and hosted a Friendsgiving.
Everything about the house was perfect for the weekend. There was plenty of space for all of us, the kitchen was a great size and had everything we needed for making our Thanksgiving dinner. The location is also only a 15 minute drive from Woodstock so we were able to do a little exploring around the town and had an easy time getting groceries.
Highly recommend for groups who need an escape!
Thanks Val & Rick.

Wonderful woods retreat!
Our stay at this Bearville lodge fit the bill for our group! The spaciousness was an appreciated luxury and the large kitchen with a center island that could be sat around provided a natural gathering spot. The lodge has a very large balcony/patio that spans the width of the home. Sitting outside in the late, warm Fall weather in the Adirondack chairs was therapeutic. Owner Valerie answered questions promptly and provided needed info in a timely manner. Our stay here provided the setting for a great memory maker!
