About this cabin rental
Come celebrate in the gorgeous mountains of Black Mountain and enjoy long range mountain views at 3000 feet from the wraparound deck, gorgeous sunsets and town lights. Restaurants and shops are now open and the area is still as beautiful and special as ever. We are only 5 minutes to downtown Black Mtn, 15 to Asheville. Downtown you will find unique mountain shops, great restaurants, breweries, music venues and more. The cabin has 4 bedrooms, 3 downstairs, a queen bedroom, full bedroom and bunk room. There is a full bath with shower and a laundry room downstairs. The master bedroom is in the loft with a king bed, large soaking tub, bath and shower. The soaking tub has curtains for privacy and cannot be viewed from below. We have an endless hot water tank so you never run out of hot water. The main floor consists of the dining room, table seating for 6. The kitchen is well-stocked with condiments, spices, oils, blender, Mr Coffee, small Keurig, crock pot, nice potware. Plenty of extra paper products and cleaning products. There is a gas grill on the deck. The living room has a TV, with great wifi service and gas firelogs. We have French doors which provides a beautiful view of the mountains. There is a half bath on the main floor. We have plenty of parking with a long drive. We have a winding staircase that goes from downstairs to the loft. There are also stairs outside that provide access to the downstairs area. The neighborhood is very private and quiet. There is a computer desk in the loft. We are dog friendly, for more than 1, please let me know. No cats unfortunately allowed. Black Mountain is very pet friendly and most restaurants and stores are very accommodative. We are open winter months and is a beautiful season with clear views of the mountain range. We will be fully decorated for Christmas with a real NC tree. We have discounted winter rates and I have discounted further December rates to encourage guests to come and enjoy this special Christmas after Hurricane Helene. More and more attractions will be opening as wonderful volunteers and organizations work diligently to restore the area. Fortunately, Black Mtn is recovering quickly and we love being able to share our mountain cabin with our guests and make your visit special.

We normally stay in another location in Black Mountain but that one was unavailable so we ended up booking this cabin getaway. The location of a Mountain Road is remote without feeling isolated and the cabin had all of the amenities we needed to feel at home. Rustic with modern conveniences and most of all of you that you'll remember beyond your stay. Mary the owner was very receptive to any minor issues we had during our stay.

Mary, our host; was fabulous. She made the check in incredibly easy, directions and even suggestions as to restaurants, etc. in the area. The porch and the views were incredible.
The cabin is very well stocked and beautifully decorated for Fall. Wonderful fireplace.
Thank you Mary for sharing your beautiful home.

Property was as expected. View was absolutely amazing. Very convenient to Asheville and super easy to get into downtown Black Mtn. Host had wonderful welcoming messages, water, local coffee and chocolates. Ambient lighting throughout the cabin. The kitchen was well stocked. We had the best time. Would 100% recommend.

Incredible views! So close to town and surrounding waterfalls and trails. Had great meals at unique restaurants in downtown Black Mtn. We loved hiking around Montreat and drove over to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Hopped onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and hiked around Mount Mitchell. The cabin itself was super clean and very comfortable. And the view! Just amazing. Tons to do and see in the area and you can’t go wrong staying at this cabin!

The cabin was very nice and in an excellent location. The view is priceless. We really enjoyed staying here. Mary and black mountain in general were very dog friendly. We had a great time. Mary was very helpful in sharing info on hikes and other things we could do with our dogs. the spiral staircase was a little difficult with the dogs, but we were able to use the exterior stair case to go up and down with them.

This is the second time I've stayed at Mary's property, and it won't be the last. It is the absolute best of both worlds, having the "cabin in the woods" mountain feel while also being ~10 minutes away from the little town of Black Mountain and 20 minutes away from downtown Asheville. Mary is the absolute sweetest host and makes sure you feel at home!

My husband and I visited Black Mountain for our one year anniversary. The cabin is in a perfect location and easy to find. The cabin is stocked well & has plenty of space for a family. The view off the deck is worth every penny we paid. We had a great time!

This cabin in Black mountain (20 min from Asheville) was wonderful- had the best Mountain Views from the deck and great location. The cabin is clean, with a very well stocked kitchen, fireplace and lots of room. The host Mary was so helpful and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!

This city and this specific property were absolutely perfect!!! We will definitely be back. Thank you so much Mary for the warm welcome, the perfect cozy cabin. Also, downtown black mountain is amazing!! Such a secret sparkling gem. The shopping and eateries were all perfect.

My friends and I had a wonderful time at The High Top Cabin! We had a few issues here and there, but Mary was wonderful at coming to our assistance! We loved exploring downtown Black Mountain, downtown Asheville, and had the best time! Thank you again, Mary!

Our group of 6 adults and 1 fourth month old had a wonderful time at Mary's cabin. The views were unreal - we enjoyed coffee on the deck every morning, and there was plenty of space for our yoga mats as well! The living room is also privy to the remarkable mountain views, and had an easy to use gas fireplace. Mary had so many thoughtful touches - from fresh flowers, to fall decor, to lots of cozy throws. She also had a well stocked spice cabinet, little creams for coffee, and there was an abundance of paper products and towels. She was easy to communicate with, provided perfect directions down to the best way to access the driveway, and even accommodated our last minute request for an earlier check in. Also, the washer/dryer on site was wonderful as well. Hot water was plentiful - the bathtub in the loft was incredible and hot water lasted even for multiple back-to-back baths for our group.
The few things to note/be aware of -- but would not change our five star rating, and we hope to be repeat visitors: 1) the queen bedroom in the basement has a closet, but no windows, and felt just slightly humid - but it was perfectly clean. It did not bother us enough to need to reach out to Mary, but FYI. 2) We wish we'd brought a few camping chairs with us to all sit on the deck more easily. Due to the rain, the picnic table never completely dried. The deck is well supplied w/ 2 rockers, and 3 higher outdoor chairs, but for a big group, a few more chairs would be nice! 3) Like others have mentioned, the spiral staircases are the only way to internally get to the basement and the only way to get upstairs. There is a great stairway outside for luggage ease, but the spiral stairs could be tight depending on body type and/or what you're bringing up.

The cabin had a beautiful view. Mary provided everything we needed. Was thinking how nice it would be to come up in the fall one year.

Our cycling group needed a place to relax and enjoy after long rides in the Blue Ridge Mountains and the High Cabin worked out wonderfully. Amazing views off the surround porch where we would have breakfast and dinner with miles of mountain cycling in between including Mt. Mitchell summit out and back and a metric century loop from Black Mountain going around Lake Lure and on to Old Fort before returning to Black Mountain.

It was the view off of the back porch that caught my eye with the property. 5 stars. could have gazed at it all day. We loved staying here. Mary was a wonderful host. The house was spotless and had so many thoughtful touches. I especially appreciated that there were kitchen basics available as far as spices and olive oil.. Beds were all very comfortable. It's a relatively small house but arranged in such away that we never felt like we were on top of each other. Would absolutely stay here again.

Fiancé and I decided to take a trip to the mountains for 4th of July as a complete change of pace from the COVID world. This was just what we needed.
Mary the owner was extremely helpful and easy to work with. Communication was amazing, and the check-in process very very easy.
The cabin itself was exactly what I think of when I want a mountain cabin. Lots of wood, and very beautifully appointed. It was much bigger than it looks - and although there were only 2 of us, it could have easily held another 4 - 6 adults and kids.
The views, which is what drew me to it on Vrbo did not disappoint. You are high up, and the sunsets are absolutely amazing. We got up early just so we could eat breakfast on the deck overlooking the mountains.
Absolutely recommend this place. We will be back!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was very well cared for, and had a spectacular view of the mountains from the porch. The property manager was also very responsive and professional. We would stay here again if in the area.

Everything was perfect and exactly what we were looking for...if we ever return to the Black Mountain / Asheville area, we will certainly be staying here. Mary was great to work with!

We loved the cabin! The view was amazing and we even saw a bear, so if you are looking for mountain views and nature this is the place to stay! We also really loved the town Black Mountain and had a lot of fun exploring the shops, and were happy we chose to stay here versus somewhere closer to Asheville! Just a warning that the last 100 yards up the mountain to the cabin are super steep, but my honda civic made it once I switched to a lower gear! It is definitely steep, but doable for the views!

This home has everything you could possibly want in a mountain home....great views, wonderful location close to both the town of Black Mountain and the City of Asheville, and all the amenities one can ask for. Though the weather didn't exactly cooperate, my family had a wonderful time taking advantage of the fantastic hiking and other activities that are all nearby. We would absolutely stay here again.

This cabin was perfect for our girls' weekend trip. The cabin was very clean and the view from the porch was amazing! The location wasn't too far from downtown Asheville...just about 15 minutes. I will definitely book this place again when we make another trip to Asheville!

Our family was so impressed with the Black Mountain cabin we rented for Christmas. The cabin was sparkling clean, well furnished and perfectly decorated for Christmas. The owners had a REAL tree set up and decorated and fresh evergreen boughs abounded throughout the cabin. We even had little white lights on the bed's headboards! Mary (one of the owners) was delightful and extremely helpful. The beds in each room were so comfortable, that we wanted to know who made the mattresses. Truly, it was the best sleep we had all had in a long time. A magical Christmas was had by all. Thank you Mary for sharing your charming cabin!!

We just came back from a fabulous trip to Black Mountain to celebrate Thanksgiving! The cabin was beautiful, with great views, and had all the amenities we needed. The cabin in a quick 8-10 min drive into town and less than 30 min to downtown Asheville. We have rented many properties through VRBO/Homeaway and I must say our hostess, Mary, was by far the most attentive and available. Mary went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She even added special touches such as fresh flowers, juice, coffee, lotion, and even potpourri! Our family and friends thoroughly enjoyed out time, thank you!

Mary was a very accommodating host. I could not recommend this home (or the view) enough. Asheville and Black Mountain we’re easily accessible and we were also near several hikes. Definitely stay at the High Top Cabin!
