Had a great view from the restaurant and the pool was great.
Washrooms were poor quality, although functional. Also the unit was walled all the way around, so poor ventilation so during the day it was very warm. Only the room had AC. Spend 21 days traveling in Sri Lanka, I would say this property had the worst breakfast or meals of all the 6 properties we stayed during this trip.

staff are welcoming and helpful. they love babies!! staff was very accommodating to our requests especially with requesting special baby meals
cleanliness, the rooms weren’t too clean. not many activities in the hotel as well. the spa was below average, both my husband and I didn’t enjoy the massage service we got at the spa.

Spa facilities are ok but availability is poor, even though we didn’t see anybody working, doctor for health awareness check was not friendly.

It’s a lovely hotel, with beautiful grounds. the staff were super friendly and helpful. Everyday they have free activities on at certain times of the day like sunrise yoga, afternoon meditation, fruit, tea and cake around 4pm.
The breakfast was 10/10 - I loved it and looked forward to it every day. They did cooked options as well as buffet style. everything was nice.
We had just come from Hiriketiya (10mins up the road) and in comparison to there this place was sooo quiet it lacked atmosphere. At times it felt a bit like a rehab centre. The food and drink onsite is soooo expensive and priced in Euros? I guess because it is a German hotel, but still the prices were similar to London/Berlin prices for meals and drinks.
On our first night there was a big party going on in the next residence (not within the hotel grounds, but next to them) and the music kept us up til 4am - not a fault of the hotel but not sure how often that happens.
It was the most expensive hotel we booked during our trip and I can see why, because the service is exceptional. But I was glad to get out of there after 2 days to be honest. I found it a bit boring.

The facilities (room, furnishings, pool area) are very good and the location is beautiful. Having breakfast looking out over the ocean in the morning is very special. Staff were attentive and the housekeeping service very prompt. Having a pool as part of the room is pretty luxurious. Although the beach is not suitable for swimming it's only a short (8-10 min) tuk tuk ride to Hiriketiya beach which is one of the nicest beaches in Sri Lanka.
I think the hotel is best suited to older couples or young families as there isn't much atmosphere or vibe. Breakfast was nice enough but the al a carte menu was pretty ordinary and overall the food was very expensive for Sri Lanka. Actually you pay western prices for pretty much everything at the hotel (food, spa, getting laundry done etc). I can understand this partly being due to the 5 star status but also seems ridiculous that a pineapple juice is $6-7 AUD inside the resort when it's using the same pineapples being sold at restaurants and hotels outside the resort where it would cost $2. The one evening we ate at the property there was only the banquet available and we were told it was 4900 rupees ($33 AUD) per person. This is already quite steep for Sri Lanka....but then when I went to sign the bill I was told it was 6000 rupees ($41 AUD) per person because of a 20% increase in prices due to COVID....? When I challenged this (as we should have been notified of total price before eating) they did reduce it back to 4900 rupees...but overall the experience left a bit of a bad taste. Also the wifi wasn't working in our room which they said they would fix but never did (or notify us it wasn't possible). This wasn't a huge issue as we were on holiday but again is not what you would expect for a 5 star rating and the cost of the hotel.

A very, very nice hotel. No big complex, but lovingly designed. The staff is very courteous and the food is very good. We were in one of the villas (free upgrade) and had the feeling of having arrived in paradise. Thanks for the wonderful days!

The idea of the resort is fantastic.
The lady who manages the resort was not very kind.

Very nicely located hotel on a hill with nice view over the sea from the restaurant area and some (but not all) rooms. Nice pool area with 25m basin next to restaurant and nice private beach area at 3 minutes walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff and very clean rooms. Nice style of hotel and rooms with large beds and wooden walls with its own UTMT color branding. Good food at restaurant and free cake and fruit during happy hour in afternoon; daily changing dishes in addition to standard menu (Curries are delicious!). Good Ayurveda treatment offerings including corresponding food. Private pool next to our apartment was very nice and relaxing. We would definitely recommend to go there and enjoy a few days of relaxation in a beautiful resort.
High season also raises the prices in this hotel (such as in most others as well). WiFi reception varies from good to bad over the hotel area.
7.5
amazing look and feel, good vibes, cool details, super friendly staff
Too expensive for what you get, all activities on the side are for example still extra charged for such as yoga.
Further, the menu from the restaurant is very limited.
It’s a cool place but I’ve stayed in better more ‘special’ hotels for less
