About this house rental
Exclusive 10 acres atop Cady Mnt. View of Ocean & Vancouver Island.
This is a special Northwest home. We know you'll relax and decompress in this unique and serene location and enjoy the very special place that is San Juan Island. The home is outfitted to suit the vacationer with walls of windows and skylights to let the warm Pacific Northwest Sun flow throughout the home. MB-King Bed, BR2-Queen Bed, BR3-Trundle (2) Twins or convertible to King size Bed.
As you step into this contemporary vacation home perched atop Cady mountain, you are drawn to the wall of windows and stunning forested ocean views encompassing Canada's Vancouver Island and Haro Strait ocean view. Step out to the wrap around decks. This newly custom built home is a warm and friendly environment and allows you to participate in all that nature has to offer. Orcas, deer, fox, eagle and a myriad of birds. Watch international shipping traffic, whale watching boats and sailboats. Track the maritime traffic with your laptop from any room in the house with high-speed Wi-Fi. Make good use of the telescope and binoculars! Cook your gourmet meals at home in the fully equipped kitchen.
The house is filled with light - windows surround the 'Great Room' = living and dining with kitchen bar seating separating the kitchen. Drift off to sleep in luxurious memory foam beds to the sight of stars overhead and ships passing in the night as you lift your head from bed.
If you're able to pull yourself away from the views and activites, the living room includes a 43" HD TV with Dish network programming. High-speed Wi-Fi internet access and free long-distance domestic calls.
San Juan Island is the best location in all of the Pacific Northwest for viewing the resident Orca pods. These magnificent animals provide exuberant displays as they feed on salmon, traveling back and forth in the waters surrounding San Juan Island. San Juan waters have been identified by Whale Museum biologists as a prime feeding area for the "J", "K", and "L" pods during the summer months.
Come see why the New York Times listed the San Juan Islands as #2 in their "Where to Go in 2011" guide - a list of 40 not-to-be-missed places around the world. Welcome to Paradise!

The view from the deck is stunning. The house felt like a home while we explored the island all week. Highly recommend staying here!

First time to the San Juan Islands and didn’t really know what to expect other than photos. Well the pictures do not do justice on how beautiful this place is on the side of a mountain. Location is perfect since it’s only 20 - 15 minutes away from almost everything on the island. It was a great family vacation.

Beautiful home in the woods with fabulous view but still only minutes from Friday Harbor.
The home was set up with everything we needed and was so clean.

Beautiful property with stunning views.

This property was a perfect getaway. Located halfway between Roche and Friday Harbors. It had a great view of the water from atop Cady Mountain. It also came equipped with everything we needed.

My family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!! The house was plenty of room for us and created a warm environment for our trip. The views were amazing and we even saw Bald Eagles from our deck. The host was extremely friendly and quick to respond. We would definitely stay again!

We visited with our 15 mo old and two friends. It was a great place to stay!

Halfway between Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor, this 3 bedroom 2 bath cabin has it all! Beautiful large master suite with a fantastic shower on the upper level, and two bedrooms and a romantic claw foot tub on the main, this property is quiet and secluded, perfect for leaving the more crowded areas behind. A well deserved 5 star rating, I would encourage anyone visiting San Juan to check this property out. It's top notch!

This place was amazing and we cannot wait to come back! This place was such a quiet, remote location in the woods and we cannot recommend it more!

Beautiful house close to the English Camp.

Our stay was lovely! The upstairs loft had magnificent views and the two downstairs bedrooms were nicely arranged. Home is nicely updated. Immaculate cleanliness made us feel comfortable from the start.
Communications were prompt and thorough regarding the property. Love the self clean option to avoid excessive cleaning fees!
Aside from the expansive deck with beautiful views, there isn’t much outdoor/yard space, but that is to be expected with a home on the mountain. The road/driveway is a two track that would likely need 4wd in the winter months but the seclusion and quiet was rejuvenating.
Highly recommend this property!

A very well appointed A-Frame with a view across the strait to Vancouver Island. The location is secluded and peaceful. The house itself had everything that the 4 of us (two couples) needed. We would definitely return.

We will stay here again!

We had a great 4-night stay on beautiful San Juan Island in this incredible property! Perched atop Cady Mountain, this very quite and private home offers a drop-dead gorgeous view across the water to Vancouver Island and is very well appointed, extraordinarily clean and has great internet service. And it’s pet-friendly! The host, Karen Palmer, was terrific to deal with. We highly recommend this fantastic retreat!!

This is a beautiful, well appointed home on an isolated road. Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, gorgeous view, and very quiet. Four adults, and one 21 month old. We enjoyed our time very much.

We truly loved this property for our big family (kids ages 2-12). There was lots of room to play and roam. The view is beautiful and the location is tucked away but still close to everything. It took us no more than 15 minutes to get anywhere on the island. It is a little bit of an adventurous drive getting to the property (I wouldn't want to do it on winter roads or in heavy rains), but that was part of the fun.
A few minor complaints we had: Ants and fruit flies (I think they were fruit flies? they were really small) upon our arrival (the ants were minor, the flies a bit more of a problem and we started storing our pantry goods in the oven). The downstairs toilet chain kept coming unhooked, making it impossible to flush the toilet. And for a big family, we definitely could have used more spoons. It also would have been nice to have the house be a bit more kid-friendly: less glass tables and coasters, a few plastic dishes (or Corelle dishware), and maybe a few toys or books for kids.
But all in all, we really enjoyed our stay and definitely would return. The view and peaceful setting can't be beat and the house is cozy and beautiful!

Our first time in the San Juan Islands and this property lived up to the beauty and grandeur of the place. Magnificent views. Immaculate property in which the owners anticipated all our needs. Thank you!

If you're looking for something very quiet and private with views, and aren't looking to walk to shops or restaurants, this house is an excellent choice. The house is located near the center of the island and within a 15 minute drive to most spots. Communications with Karen, the host, were pleasant and easy, and she responded promptly. Karen handles things a little differently as she asks for payment by check, and only a limited amount of post-stay cleaning is included in the rent; self-cleaning will avoid or reduce additional charges. This didn't turn out to be a problem for us, but may not be for everyone. We were happy with our stay.

Capron road is atop Cady Mountain. The house has sweeping views of the water and Vancouver Island. Perched on rolling green hills and rocky outcroppings, the home’s entrance opens on to floor to ceiling window views. The house is well appointed and modern. Heated floors in the main loft bedroom and a memory foam bed were welcomed after a long day of travel. Two bedrooms and a full bath on the main floor off the kitchen and living room were home to our twin teenagers. We spent our late afternoon and evenings watching the sunsets and lights from Vancouver island. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils for large or small gatherings. Any questions were quickly replied to by the host and a quick text and reply to let them know we had left for the ferry made leaving a breeze ( although we surely didn’t want to leave). This is the perfect house for a family reunion, or a romantic getaway for two.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It has beautiful views of the woods, ocean and sunsets. The owner was very responsive and great to interact with! Great central location to get to most areas on the island.

This home is just beautiful…the view is amazing! Incredible sunsets and great location in the middle of the island. Very comfortable…had everything we needed! Karen went above and beyond to communicate w/us…even sent a much appreciated email with dates for ferry reservations. We all felt right at home and enjoyed our time on top of Cady Mountain!

We had a great stay. The house, location and view were all awesome.

Very private, beautifully maintained and comfortable. Our family enjoyed the staycation. Very functional and tastefully maintained kitchen. Ideal for two families. Enjoy the evening sun , sipping the coffee. Host is always reachable. She even refunded me for a night when I changed my schedule on short notice. Starlink internet works well for most part.
The private road to the house could become better though. Found few pet hairs in living room sofa. Used the vaccum cleaner and it was all good after that. Didnt use BBQ so cant say if it works. Overall, a very beautiful place 5 miles from friday harbor nested in a private setting.

We had a wonderful time at the property. It is close to the two big areas on the island, Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. The place had lots of space to gather as a family. What was really amazing about the property was the view! Evergreen trees leading to water. Amazing sunsets!

The property is very nice and well appointed. Host Karen was very responsive to questions and with guidance. We had a nice stay.

privacy and beauty
Tremendous view and large deck for relaxing and looking out to the Salish Sea. Many songbirds. Large open cabin like living room and kitchen, well-equipped and comfortable. Host was very helpful and responsive.

Very beautiful and relaxing place to stay. We stayed there for 3 days and enjoyed every minute of it. Would love to go back again. I know some people in the past have complained about the road but we didn't have any issues with it in our Dodge minivan. It is a one lane dirt road but was fine while we stayed there.

Beautiful home with EV charger
The home is very nicely equipped (especially in the kitchen) and comfortable, with wonderful views. The deck is wonderful; I loved the birdhouse, which has baby violet-purple swallows right now. The bed in the master was very comfortable. Unlike other A-frame type houses, this one actually has curtains to help block the light in the loft bedroom. The EV charger was so nice to have! The wifi worked well, too. We had wondered if the property would have trails or usable space to play with the dog--it does not (it's fairly rough, steep terrain). It does have Garry Oaks, which are a special tree in the San Juans, and lots of birds and privacy.

Relaxing getaway with a fantastic view!
