Excellent host and grounds and newly renovated room. The lunch was outstanding with wine and a gourmet meal.
The bells, outside at the church, across the street, ring from 7 am to 10 pm, every 15 minutes.

The spirit of the place and the hospitality especially from Paola. Great wine and history. Port wine even better
Too short to drink all wine from the cellars 🤣😱😱🥰

Recomendo.
Nada a referir, foi uma agradável surpresa.

location is perfect! the hotel is located in a small town of Sabrosa with wineries and cute old buildings around. The building itself is a rather old piece of architecture with great atmosphere and lots of details which are definitely charming! The host was very polite and caring!
There’s nothing bad I can say about this place!

The person who greeted us and gave us a tour was really great, helpful, nice

Fantastic location, comfortable rooms, magic place. Helpful staff 👌 we loved it, and last but not least, a bottle of wine was just a sherry on top.

Beautiful setting and views from the pool. Property also was old and beautiful
Allowed us to bring our bikes inside and store them.
Nice breakfast, with quality ingredients although lacking front of house presence.
Nice coffee and biscuits always available
Tour provided to hotel guests was brief.
Staff were friendly when seen/communicative.
Shower to wall attachment was broken.
No one there the next morning to check out with / say goodbye to.
Tours regularly going through and around the property - which is the main activity of the property and interferes a little with the poolside/relaxed ambience.
No dinner options provided in-hotel, which was fine, but then both staff recommended restaurants were closed.
A more comprehensive pack of information of how to navigate the sleepy town would be useful - including where to eat on quieter nights for example.

I recently had the pleasure of booking a stay at Casa dos Barros, and I must say that it exceeded all of our expectations. Despite coming across some negative comments prior to our visit, I strongly disagree with the majority of them. While it is true that there were often tourists gathering near the swimming pool for lunch, this minor inconvenience did not in any way hinder our overall experience.
I would like to take this opportunity to highlight the outstanding hospitality provided by Augusto, the hotel manager. Augusto went above and beyond to ensure that our needs were met and that we had an unforgettable stay. He truly deserves recognition as an exceptional host. If you are seeking an unparalleled dining experience accompanied by an exceptional wine selection, I highly recommend reaching out to Augusto. He is undoubtedly the person to speak with for the best service and a memorable culinary adventure.
Casa dos Barros has left a lasting impression on us, and I can confidently say that it is a remarkable destination for anyone seeking a truly remarkable vacation. Don't let any lingering doubts hold you back from experiencing the exceptional offerings and warm hospitality that this establishment has to offer.
While Casa dos Barros impressed us in many aspects, there are a couple of minor areas that could benefit from improvement. Firstly, although the breakfast provided was decent, it would have been nice to have a slightly wider range of options available. Nevertheless, considering the price we paid, the breakfast was satisfactory.
Additionally, one small issue we encountered was the size of the sink in the toilet. It felt a bit cramped and could have been larger to provide more convenience. However, this did not significantly impact our overall stay and should not deter future guests from considering Casa dos Barros as a wonderful accommodation option.

amazing and stunning views from the townhouse
nice furnishings and decor
very clean
breakfast delivered each morning was very tasty
location was great for wine tastings
quiet and tranquil
as other reviews had mentioned, the pool in the townhouse was nonfunctional and green. Part of the draw to choosing the townhouse was the plunge pool, so to learn it was not maintained was disappointing.
The check in process for the townhouse was burdensome. We drove 15 mins from the location to pick up a piece of paper with the address and picture on it, to then drive 15 mins back to the location. This could have just been done via email or message, especially since I had asked specifically where to go for that location knowing that it was not at the main hotel
area.

Very nice small hotel attached to a working winery. We were greeted with a very nice glass of their wine. Great breakfast. Comfortable sized rooms.
Room #2 needs new mattresses badly. Pillows in rooms # 1, 2 and 4 were in need of replacement too.

Ricardo worked really hard to make us welcome and serve us our meals. The gardens and views were lovely. The bedroom was nothing special but clean and quiet.
The Winery basically caters for large tour groups. The hotel guests appear to be an add on. Once all of the lunchtime clients had gone there was nobody else in the building. I am not sure what would have happened had we needed to contact anyone during the night. There was no real focal point where we could spend time and the WiFi did not reach to the bedrooms. We appeared to be the only people staying and eating dinner each evening. We ate alone each evening in a room that could not really be called a restaurant. It was a private dining experience.

everything was perfect. Just one comment, the cat goes on the breakfast buffet and this is dirty. To keep the cat out during breakfast time

The welcome was nice, we were greeted with a glass of wine and a tour of the grounds, which were quite pretty. There's a nice view from the outdoor seating area.
Our shower did not drain, and they did little to rectify this. They offered to change our room several hours later, but this conflicted with our schedule for the day. It was frustrating because there were multiple empty rooms on the floor and no one checking in, so they were clearly avoiding offering us an upgrade. There is also no restaurant on site and very limited option for food in the area - we were completely without options for dinner on a Sunday night without driving out of town. Given there are no facilities on site, and there is minimal staff, we were forced to go without a meal.

Lovely place in a glorious setting. Some misunderstanding about food but sorted with aplomb by a genial host and excellent staff. A truly memorable night to celebrate 40 years of travelling.

Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Good value for money.
The quality of the mattress is okay, but a little poor if you are used to the comfort of a boxspring bed.

The staff were very helpful and very friendly, they made us feel very much at home. We ate dinner on the premises on Sunday evening, which was very good. The vinery is in the village of Sabrosa, and it was pleasant going for a walk either in the village or around the neighbouring vineyards. There were also a couple of other restaurants nearby.
There were many persons from tours stopping over for a port tour and lunch. So you could really sit by the pool or have a swim after 4.00 pm or before 11.00 . The pool needed cleaning from the leaves of surrounding trees,to really enjoy the beauty of the pool and deck.

Everything was superb. The staff is amazing. Sophia and Inês are exceptional in every respect. The lodge is historic, beautifully decorated, and well looked after. The room was clean and comfortable, and the grounds are gorgeous. Almost forgot to mention the wine ~ outstanding!! We are definitely going back!!

beautiful location and staff excellent. very accommodating.
don’t stay in rooms 1 & 2 until they change the mattresses. they are beyond awful. no sleep for either of us on the first night. but moved the second to much more comfortable room. change your mattresses people!

the hostess was friendly and the location is nice, with a great view from the (not so clean) pool
It seemed like the main purpose is to fit big groups of people for wine tasting. There’s a really big terrace, with lots of big tables and lots of chairs. We didn’t had the opportunity to have dinner or wine tasting (or even another drink), although we arrived at 6pm.
About the room: the bathroom smelled very bad (mold) and the matrasses we’re far from comfortable: we were laying on the springs…
Unfortunately, the outdated impression in general doesn’t contribute anything that the atmosphere. and again, the hostess was very friendly and made us feel welcome.

Wonderful welcoming staff in a property at a perfect location with a tremendous view! Especially the receptionist and the girl who served breakfast were extremely helpful and nice! They arranged a lovely lunch and port tour for us as hotel guests, which was amazing!

Overall the house is beautiful, the staff very welcoming. The dinner and wine was excellent.
The only recommendation is to improve the mattress quality and pillows. They were extremely soft.
