Our stay was a bit unusual. While we looked forward to our stay in the pod, an extreme turn off weather forced us to stay in the lodge facility instead. The lodge was beautiful and the manager and staff were very flexible in making the alternative arrangements work out for the best! Dinner (lamb shank) was everything I dreamed of!
Again the severe weather also caused the power to go out. The generator was only able to run for limited hours. So it was a bit chilly in the lodges, despite the lovely fireplaces. Perhaps an extra back up propane heater would have been in order. But again, it was basically out of management's control.

Everything ! Intimate , lovely big traditional Manor House room , exceptionally friendly caring staff , good food , wonderful private game drives - the animals enjoying the exceptionally remote ,wild and beautiful surroundings as much as we were watching them !
Nothing - loved this intimate and friendly property

Historic farmhouse stay in a beautiful location. Place is immaculate and food and service exemplary. Really lovely to stay somewhere different and obviously treasured.
Only downside is the 27m dirt road to get there, but thats the price you pay for getting "off the beaten track" and exclusivity

We loved everything about our 3 night stay. The food was delicious, accommodation so beautiful and comfortable, we thoroughly enjoyed each and every game drive, with great sightings of lion, elephants, giraffe, rhino, zebra, gemsbok and so much more. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. What an absolute treat to stay at Mount Camdeboo.

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt, leider nur für eine Nacht. Die Landschaft des Game Reserves ist absolut wunderschön. Die Game Drives haben uns sehr gefallen. Abendessen war ebenfalls sehr gut!

Location, Accommodation (we stayed in the Pod) Wonderful Staff, Game Drive, Excellent Food and Interesting guests to share the experience with.
We had extreme cold & windy weather - not the venue’s fault.

Game drives were out of the world. Our guide Tian has been an outstanding tour guide - high knowledge about flora and fauna in the whole area. He did a great job. Also the sundowner in the middle of nowhere with stunning views on the 12.000 ha reserve were absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for these unforgettable days. Staff in general super warm and welcoming. 11/10 points. Their super new pods / tiny houses are located at amazing spots on top of a big hill in the reserve.
The furniture in the manor and the suites there is a bit outdated and needs some investments. Food was only okay. No Braai was possible even though we asked for it and would have loved to experience that (cool fireplace existing).
4.5
Stunning property in a lovely location, the most breathtaking views and complete exclusivity at the pods.
Very unique type of accommodation, enjoyed the game drives and the very friendly staff.
The food definitely could get better, I appreciated the stocked drinks fridges, but they need to improve especially their breakfast and dinner offering.

We stayed in Pod 1. We highly recommend the Pods for a truly unique experience. the lodge is beautiful but spending the night on the mountain is unmatchable. It’s a 40 minute drive from the Lodge to the Pods but it’s spectacular.
nothing we didn’t like.

Everything was beyond expectations!!
It is impossible to describe how fantastic our accommodation, Pod 1, is located in the middle of nature.
Our personal rangers Chad and Tiaan were super friendly and motivated, and no effort was too much for them.
Their enthusiasm for and knowledge of the animals and nature was amazing.
We thoroughly enjoyed the early morning and late afternoon game drives with them!
Breakfast in the lodge after the morning drive and lunch and dinner brought up to the pod were superb.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Absolutely recommended, this beautiful location!!
Nothing was disappointing. Everything was just perfect.

Perfect place for family stay.
The kids have been thrilled by rich wildlife and our guide Trish was outstanding. Highly recommended!

What a very beautiful part of the world.
Our lodge was private and decorated beautifully.
Staff were lovely.
As for cons -
- Our special request before arrival was to 'braai' as often as possible being typical South Africans and wanting to enjoy the Karoo evenings.
Not once was this done for us or even attempted. Finally on last night we dragged chairs into the boma area and lit our own fire pit ...
Modus Operandi for dinner seemed to be the same routine of a quickly served dinner at dining table with no attempt to use any outdoor facilities or do anything different.
- For our entire stay , there was no stopping ( or suggestion) for the traditional drinks/snacks on afternoon / evening game drives even though a coolbox was routinely packed ? There seemed to be an excuse every evening.
- It was a family members birthday and nothing special in anyway was suggested or provided .... maybe breakfast / coffee etc in bush would have been very appreciated.

Everything about our stay was enjoyable, even when the weather dampened our plans. The food was delicious, the staff were so friendly and accommodating. Our pod experience was definitely one we won’t forget. Would definitely recommend trying it at least once.
Special thank you to Abraham for all your guidance, knowledge and kindness!

We stayed in one of the pods, and the view was amazing. It was a great experience to wake up in the middle of nowhere and see Rhinos a few meters away from the pod, as well as the incredile stars and clear sky at night. We also loved the staff who were super welcoming and especially our guide Abraham was super!
Nothing. We very much enjoyed our time.

Mount Cambedoo is an absolute gem. We were blown away by the scenery and landscape, and wildlife sightings and guides (Jason) exceeded our expectations. The POD gave us the privacy we wanted for our honeymoon and its setting treated us to unparalleled views.
If you’re willing to brave the occassional extremes of weather, the benefits of the POD are definitely worthwhile. Otherwise staying in the Manor would be a perfect alternative.

Variety..
When the electricity/solar trips at the pods there is no wifi or network reception to contact the lodge. It may be necessary to inform guests what to do when this happens.

The lodge is located in a beautiful valley with views all around. It has been beautifully restored and the rooms are tastefully decorated. We were upgraded to Peppertree Lodge which is secluded from the main Manor house, it has a hot tub to soak in. All the staff went out of their way to make our stay perfect.
Nothing to fault them!

The property was absolutely gorgeous and the staff so attentive and friendly.
The meals and wine which was inclusive were really superb.
Jason our guide was so knowledgeable and went the extra mile.
Highly recommend.
The gravel road to the lodge needs to be graded.

The location was remote as one can get and the privacy 100% guaranteed. The POD ( no 2 ) was extremely well located for spectacular view of the Karoo Planes as well as the majestic Sneeuberge. The grass planes at the the top if the valley where the POD was located ensured for some amazing game viewing in the morning and afternoons. The game ranger and field guide Ryan Ormerod was immensely well knowledgeable and when he talked we would listed as there was ALWAYS something unique or interesting coming your way. The staff and the Manor House and main Restaurant was equally friendly professional and the food was excellent.
The water for shower tend to not get to the normal temperature one would expect ( could be due to the power/gas supply due to remoteness of the location)
The skylight was difficult to open ( was not explained when we had a tour of the POD )
The spirits drinks that was available af the Manor House as part of full board was not stocked af the POD and only beers and wines ( not a huge issue as we took our own with aswel )
