The location is quiet and tranquil and out of the way. We could hear church bells from across the road. You have to book the restaurant at the nearby guesthouse. The house itself is nice but is not signposted and is on a bend in the road without a mirror to see oncoming cars.
Parking was good. We took a look in one of the upstairs rooms which was open, it looked nice and we we’re contemplating upgrading to but it did not have a fireplace.
The fireplace was lovely but not properly fixed to the wall and smoke was coming out of it, a potential issue for carbon monoxide poisoning and so we only had the fire on to warm the place as the downstairs area of the house that we were in was still quite cold even at the end of May.
The kitchen was quite well stocked with cutlery and crockery and some spices, salt & pepper, teabags and coffee pods... the owner left a couple beers and a water in the fridge.
For 3 nights at AUD$700 it was relatively fairly priced as we wanted privacy and got that…
The furniture was old especially the bed which was too small for two people and caved in the middle and creaked a lot. The bedding was a bright pink and a multi coloured pattern.
Some of the decorations were cheap and looked like they were just left in the room or stuff the family longer used… a few nice lights, white bedding, a smaller table or tablecloth and a slightly bigger and newer bed and it would have been fine.
There were no instructions and the wifi code not clear at first, most places have an instruction manual with it all laid out… 🤷🏻♂️
We had no hot water on the first morning and then figured out where the boost button was.
The owner was communicative at first but then seemed to be grumpy and needy. We’d had a long drive and so I sent a quick message saying we could not access the wifi and the fire was not working… I received an aggressive response saying that it was 22 degrees and why were we wanting to light a fire and that we would be charged €10 for extra a day because it was out of season… the place was cold and the room showed a fireplace!
We then went out for dinner but received messages demanding a response at 10pm at night, after a few sms exchanges I decided to call rather than message as it was affecting our evening… the owner was grumpy and a bit rude and I was almost at the point of booking somewhere else but it was 10pm and we couldn’t go anywhere else… When we got back to the room there were more messages demanding a response… I did not answer as it was almost 11pm and we were exhausted.
In the morning we slept in, I woke to more messages demanding a response… I said everything was okay and got a „thanks for finally letting me know“ response… really!?
The night before last we received two messages that were later deleted but we did not see them…
Yesterday we sent a message to say thanks for the stay after leaving the place in order… we received no feedback.
The owner was the worst part...
We won't be back.

Nice, clean, well furnished. The "garden" in the description is more of a covered seating area in a grassy parking place, but still quiet and comfortable. Unfortunately the cons for us outweighed the pros...
There's pretty much no cell coverage, you have to go outside to send a text message (not to mention cell data...). The provided WiFi wouldn't connect to neither our Android phones/tablets nor our Windows laptop, which was a key problem for us.
