Not often that you can escape the every day world and get back to basics. This week was just that. Simple, quiet, yet close to everything that was essential. Good food and an amazing beach. Unplug and enjoy!!

This is a lovely house with a super-responsive owner. We were there during a heat wave and there was an AC issue--a new unit was installed by the time we were back from dinner. Terrific experience.

My family and I had a lovely time at the cottage during our stay. The location was secluded but an easy jog, bike ride, or car ride from many great spots in Orleans. We were able to visit lots of beaches and towns easily, and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The outdoor shower was fantastic and we enjoyed reading on the back deck, messing around on the piano, and making breakfast in the kitchen before our daily adventures. On clear nights, the stargazing was spectacular from the yard. If you need air conditioning, this might not be comfortable on the hottest days, but we loved pulling up to this sweet old cottage each day. The hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful before and during our visit, including late the first night when I dropped the key under the front deck!

We just loved our stay here—the neighborhood is private and the house had everything we needed, including a coffee grinder, Tupperware, and nightlights! We brought a kayak and paddle board, and the kids loved all the amazing sea life on the bay. 10/10.

Wonderful location in Orleans with access to a unique beach on Pleasant Bay that is great for kayaking and offers lots of things to explore for younger kids. 15 minute bike ride to Nauset Beach and an easy drive to Skaket. Lots of good food options nearby as well. The house was very clean and full of charm. As a family with older kids we had plenty of things to do. Christy was a great host and very responsive. Check in was a breeze. We are very happy with our stay here.

The house is in a terrific location, very private and quiet, easy drive or long walk to Nauset Beach. There is a nice deck for sitting outside and watching the birds. The private beach area is great, although we didn't end up using it very much.
The house is a beautiful original Cape style but kitchen and bath are updated and everything is very comfortable and well-equipped. Very easy to get in and plenty of communication from the host. Note that there is only one full bath, plus an outdoor shower. Upstairs bedroom has AC which was really nice during some very hot and humid days.
We would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at Christy's home! Communication with Christy was excellent! She was super responsive and available when we needed her, allowing for an early check in and helping us resolve a few issues that cropped up (that weren’t her fault).
The house has so many amenities - well stocked kitchen supplies, beach chairs and toys, extra blankets, outdoor shower and great/huge attached shed/mudroom, charcoal grill, lots of fans. AC in the second floor bedroom which would otherwise have been unbearably hot (but don’t expect it to cool the downstairs too, and instead enjoy the sea air!). Lovely private beach that my daughter spent many hours catching sea creatures in (an astounding variety!). Ground was a little gunky for my taste for regular swimming, but fine for a quick dip. And the house is so close to so many other awesome beach options for swimming that it doesn't really matter. Check out the beach on Pleasant Bay by the town landing for a hidden gem. Close to Chatham, the bike path, all the Cape things you would want.
Highly recommend this spot!

Although we live ourselves in an “antique home” and knew what to expect, This one is well preserved and retains its charm. The tole painted doors in the dining room are remarkable!
As is the case with early historic homes it has its quirks. Stick props to hold up windows, small quaint rooms with many doors and latches. The room located upstairs has two stair cases for access both of which are steep. Upstairs room is provided with air conditioning and has large amounts of closet space.
The only bathroom is located downstairs. (just Something to be aware of. )Laundry is in an attached shed off of the kitchen. The kitchen space is well equipped. The house was very clean. Plenty of blankets and pillows. (You do need to bring your own sheets and pillowcases.)
The little ones loved the bunk beds, the dining room piano, the games provided in the front parlor closet space when the weather didn’t cooperate. The hammock in the yard had some use, and adults enjoyed the small back deck.
There’s a short trail through the woods to a little private beach. Or a quick drive around the corner. The area is lovely, and the house location is quiet and sort o f hidden, like a secret little cottage with silver shake siding. Yet not far at all from shopping or pharmacies if needed.
The host was excellent with communication and friendly. Very nice family vacation returning to a simpler time!

Wonderful stay in a historic house in Orleans
The house was well kept, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and basic kitchen supplies. The easy access to Pleasant Bay was a plus and our kids spent many happy hours playing in the bay. The location of the house gave us easy access to many areas of the Cape Cod National Seashore and local attractions. We were very happy with our stay here.

Great Experience
We loved the Barley Neck cottage. Not only is the cottage a vintage gem, the owners seem to have thought of everything a family might need. The cottage comfortably accommodated our family of 7 (lots of little ones!). We really appreciated the secluded setting, the proximity to town and the private beach. The lilacs and honeysuckle in full bloom around the property were an unexpected bonus. We hope to make it back sooner rather than later! Thanks!

Oasis of calm
Our family of 5 with 3 kids ages 5, 8 and 10 loved the feeling of having our own private corner of Cape Cod to retreat from the world for a while. The old farm house felt like stepping back in time, but with enough amenities not to feel uncomfortable. The kids loved being able to run around outside without being overlooked by neighbors and everybody loves the gravel road through the woods to a private beach. We did have a small issue with linens as the description in the listing we had used to book hadn't been fully updated, but this was resolved within an hour when we called and the listing has been updated.
We're already dreaming about when we can come back.

Relaxing Cape Stay
Location is perfect! We loved our stay here last year so much that we had to come back! After a short walk to a private beach, we launched our kayaks and SUP, exploring Pleasant Bay, drove to Nauset where we were able to play in the waves, rode our bikes on the rail trail and spent evenings unwinding on the deck. After a very challenging year, it was wonderful to come back to a place that we knew we could truly get away from it all!

A perfect Cape getaway
We had a wonderful stay at this property. Our 3 small children loved the beautiful private beach. We spent a lot of time there playing, swimming and climbing on the rocks. The house was in a perfect location for us. It was peaceful and relaxing. The owners were very kind and helpful. Can't wait to go back again sometime!

What a sweet spot
The house was fantastic for my family. It was close to a private beach where my husband would take my boys fishing and we could skip rocks. The deck was perfect for coffee in the morning and star gazing at night. Close to beaches and ice cream! The owner was super friendly and helpful in all communication!

Best Cape vacation ever!
The house is located on a private lot with plenty of space for just relaxing. The private beach was a treat and the location allowed us to go to a variety of beaches to test them out. On the day we arrived there was a free concert at Nauset Beach which was a great way to unwind after the drive. The house itself is well appointed with comfortable beds, and space for everyone to stretch out as needed. If you want the Cape Cod experience this house can provide it.
