The staff, location, and community involvement make this an essential experience when visiting the Umm Qais region. We were able to visit the archaeological site, have a cooking class, and go on a hike all during a two night stay. A very unique experience.
Bedrooms are pretty basic with shared bathrooms. Staff is not on site except during check-in, breakfast, and check-out.

We had a brilliant time here at Beit Al-Baraka House. The hosts were very helpful and welcoming. It is a beautifully decorated house and the rooms are set on 2 different floors each with a kitchen. There are beautiful photographs of local sites and traditions hung on the walls. The house is perfectly situated within 5 mins walking distance of the Umm Qais ruins of the ancient Gadara and we could walk back to the house easily at night after dinner which we had at the Romero restaurant at the ruins. It was also fabulous to walk back to the ruins in the morning to watch the sunrise over the town. Beit Al-Baraka house has a beautiful garden full of fruit trees and we enjoyed relaxing there. It has also a wonderful terrace over looking the town, and we highly recommend having tea up there to watch the sunrise. We then had a most generous and hearty breakfast full of locally produced traditional food including home-made jams and butter and freshly baked bread. We had a chance to buy some of the jams and take them back home with us too! This guest house is a special place in Jordan and we highly recommend it. We will visit here again.
Although finding the place appeared difficult on the map (it wasn't really but we missed the first road), we were able to call the host Shawkie on the phone and he was very helpful to direct us to the house, and he called us afterwards to check that we had arrived. Thank you!

When we arrived in al-Baraka around 4pm, we were told that there was a double booking and we had to stay at another place as they were fully booked. This is spite of an email exchange before we arrived. This was our second day in Jordan and we were tired from the trip so this did not go down well. They put us up at Beit Philodemus, which was indeed a lovely place with charming owners. To compensate for the mishap, they offered to buy us a sim card for Jordan, which was very welcome as we had just arrived and planned to stay for a fortnight. We had breakfast at Beit al-Baraka, which was indeed the best we had in Jordan. As we didn't stay there, all we can say is that the Beit al-Baraka looks cosy, the rooms we saw had a nice view and it has a nice garden. It was also easy to find and we appreciated being given instructions on how to get there.

Staff is so welcoming. Worth having dinner just to meet Umm Qusay! We're repeat visitors and will be back again.

Delightful as ever. Comfortable, welcoming, superb breakfast from Rufaida and Rania, garden full of the scent of orange blossom, views to snow-capped Mount Hermon.

People in charge of Beit Al Baraka are really friendly and welcoming. Diner and breakfast are perfect. On this big apartment, 3 rooms you share with other people and a big confortable and nice living room. Beit at baraka is 5 minuts walking from archeological site. Definitely a real good place to stay. Thanks again to the team

amazing location! women who provided breakfast and dinner were exceptional. food was really delicious. view from our corner room was incredible! comfortable common room to meet with other travellers.
price seemed a bit high but there are not many other options in the area. the response time from the office was very slow when we were there. wifi is off and on but is possibly more about the area and likely not so much the property.

The room was cosy, comfortable and had great views of the surrounding mountains. The room was spotlessly clean! The ladies who checked us in and cooked our breakfast were really sweet.

Beit al Baraka is located near the main site of Um Qais. As it is a community project, it contributes to local development. The room was large, spotlessly clean; staff very friendly and the breakfast was absolutely great: wide selection of local products, including fresh cheese, dates etc.

Warm welcome. Very good food, good selection of Jordanian dishes. The atmosphere of the place is relaxed and welcoming and it is interesting to meet the people from local families who provide the meals. It is a comfortable, quiet and interesting place to stay with a lovely terrace and garden. And the stunning Umm Qais site is 5 minutes' walk away. This community project is the best bed and breakfast I have found in Jordan and I would sooner go here than to any of the fancy hotels.Beit
Hard to criticise, especially now air conditioning/heating units have now been installed.

The ladies that served and produced food were charming and the food was beautifully presented and delicious local cuisine.
The room was pleasant and clean with beautiful white linen. The house is traditional and has its own charm but is not therefore modern. The plumbing and bathroom were fine and the owners have taken alot of trouble to provide a quirky local house which makes a nice difference from standard modern hotels.
The location is brilliant for Umm Qais ruins. We did not use any if their offered services such as cooking classes so cannot comment on these.
We had the two rooms in the flat downstairs which were comfortable and interestingly decorated with great photos of the area. They did smell a little fusty but were spotlessly clean. The electric wiring is not very modern but there are charging points for phones. The lamp in the second bedroom could not be plugged in. You can hear local people outside the room at night but the house is located centrally in the village so this is to be expected and we fell asleep anyway!

The interior of the house as well as the garden are really beautiful. The view from our window was also nice. The breakfast was the best we got in Jordan so far. The place is just a short walk away from the ruins.
It was a bit difficult to get a decent dinner somewhere near.

Great place. It is basically a house that is turned into a hotel. So it is like you are renting a room inside a house. Bathrooms are shared but luckily for us we were are all alone during our stay. The breakfast, what can I say, It was the best breakfast I had in Jordan so far. Well done to the ladies who prepared them.
There was a huge cockroach in our room. The Bathroom next to the kitchen was clean but the bathtub was rusty and the shower head was broken. Overall was a nice experience. Umm Qais is a small town with an amazing historical sites and views.

We stayed two nights in this lovingly maintained house. The rooms were large and comfortable, and we really enjoyed the freshly prepared breakfast. The location is great for visiting Um Quais, and you can find a few convenient shops in the vicinity.
The place benefits immensely from being the only accomodation of a certain standard in town. It doesn't offer enough value for money for Jordan standards, as bathrooms are shared and all extras (for example the family dining experience and the honey) are really expensive. The goal of supporting the community is admirable, but we would have appreciated a bit more support from the owners.

Fun eating at Beit Na ella. Breakfast was delicious. Hotel decor is lovely and roof top terrace was good place at night to sit.
Indicating optional activities before we arrived so we could book ahead. And telling us about the nature reserve for hiking. We did not get the brochure with map and attractions in Umm Qais until we left.
