Beautiful old country house with huge rooms. Only a short drive from the Motorway, Fosse Park and the centre of Leicester. Fantastic restaurant with the most amazing steaks! The staff are fantastic, can’t do enough for you.
The room we stayed in was lovely, thick carpet, nice furniture, beautiful bathroom. The polished metal 4 post bed looked out of place, a bit too ‘bling’.

Room was very nice with a lovely view. Good shower. Nice tea and coffee facilities. The breakfast itself was very good but unfortunately not hot as left in the cooking tins constantly being opened and not on hot plates.
Hotel could do with a new coat of paint in places and glass doors etc cleaned properly, also room could do with a bit more attention to detail with the cleaning - glass tops had not cleaned and coffee cups a bit grubby which was a bit off putting . Also a bit more toilet paper please!

The continental breakfast was enough for me .
Nothing to highlight

Cute comfortable double room, clean, good price for the place for a 1 night stay
Noise from people talking. There was a wedding happening that night

Staff were great, food wast well cooked and presented, the cocktails were exceptional, and I’ve tasted a few.
Was a little hard to find.

Food was outstanding ordered room service, parricularly the vegetable and goat cheese pie. Service was amazing, the lady at desk, offered to carry our bags to which I politely declined and she showed us all the way to our room which was a first for local hotels. Room was very clean and tidy
There was nothing I didn't like. There isn't anything that could have been done better in my opinion.

A beautiful building, elegant with nice furnishings. Generous hospitality tray.
Difficult to find, the entrance was blocked by the time we got there. Managed to get in following the delivery lorry sign. Would have been good to know this beforehand.
Very poor reception man, found out in the morning it was the security guard after 10pm. More customer service training required!

lovely staff - beautifully clean -
I found the bed very low. difficult to get up from with a painful knee. I had informed the hotel staff about my limited mobility prior to my stay.
The bed was also very uncomfortable for me. Far too soft.

Beautiful surroundings. Very well appointed and comfortable room. Lovely food and friendly staff.
Nothing.

Nice old building nestled in a big park.
Staff were nice and hard working.
Comfortable bed. Tea coffee making facilities in room. Good shower.
Our room was nice but quite tired. The carpet had many stains. A deep clean is required to deal with the dust. The continental breakfast selection was poor and not replenished. No milk jugs with tea or coffee. You had to go to the table where a big jug of milk was.

The whole stay was great. We had a private dining room booked to celebrate a family occasion. All the staff were accommodating and the food was good.
We would have preferred not to have had a buffet style breakfast which had been put on due to there being wedding guests in the hotel. The previous day we had breakfast service which I personally preferred.

How secluded it was
Mosquitoes were able to get into the room and there was no fridge
9.0 / 10.0
Very nice service a little slow I imagine due to only one member of staff on duty
Only negative for us would be pillows to hard obviously that's personal preference

Nice location and a very nice building with high ceiling rooms.
Take note before booking this hotel if service is important to you as a customer!
First impressions are key in the service industry especially at a check in desk of a hotel.
I feel staff at Winstanley need to be reminded of this & maybe re training is needed regarding appropriate interaction with guests. We certainly did not feel welcomed upon checking in. We were made to feel as if the staff were doing us a favour by helping us with the extra bed we had requested. Shaking of heads, scowling, one word responses & general apathy ensued. Upon requesting a late check out for the next day we were told that it would not be possible as there was a wedding on. Subsequently it was confirmed by another staff member that there was no wedding. This untruth for me was a big red flag regarding the trustworthiness around our whole stay.
To say how disappointed & embarrassed I was the next morning at 'breakfast' is an understatement. I had invited two guests to join us for breakfast as a special treat. The continental breakfast items provided desperately needed to be replenished ( wish I had taken a photo of the sad & shameful looking leftovers we were offered). Upon requesting it to be replenished I was told 'it's first come first serve!' As in it had been put there first thing & that was all there was left & no more would be added! To say I was speechless by the unacceptable nature of this 'policy' is again an understatement! I honestly have no words to explain or understand how any hotel let alone a heritage establishment such as The Winstanley can say this to a guest and get away it! Reminder again I had invited with extra charge my guests to join me. I was just so embarrassed & upset. The fact that our hot drinks came without saucers & teaspoons & the one waiter in the breakfast room was hardly ever there for us to ask him for anything made the situation even more difficult.

Free parking, spacious room, nice sized bathroom, quick check in and out service at the reception.
Breakfast ended early, no views, cleaning could be better.

Nice hotel, good breakfast, comfortable rooms, nice staff.
Someone had turned the volume to full in the ladies toilets so we could hear loud music/bass until 12pm and again at 7am.

When we eventually got breakfast that we paid for in advance, which we got told we would have to pay again for, was very good.
I had requested something special as myself and my husband were celebrating our 11 year anniversary and upon request was told via email confirmation that this will be done but when arriving to the room is ‘normal’ nothing extra was done and the room for what we paid was not worth the money and unfortunately we were just treated like we were a part of the wedding that had been taking place that evening.

The original house has been very nicely done up as a hotel, with the greenery of the park all around. The staff were very pleasant and cheerful, with one coming out to meet us and open the door when we arrived. They made an effort to accommodate us when we checked-in early. They also gave recommendations on where to go and what to do. They carried bags up the stairs, which makes a difference when if there's no lift! The restaurant was excellent, with a good vibe.
They only make-up the rooms if one remembers to request it through hanging the right message on the doorknob, which was indeed explained to us but it's easy to forget and end up with too many towels but no mint chocolate and having to make our own bed :-) It's not walkable to town, but getting taxis was easy.

Lovely historic building with a small number of rooms (19 I think). Had a friendly feel and the staff were all attentive and polite. Breakfast was very nice and our evening meal was excellent.
We found our bed a little hard but not a deal breaker. No lift but at least the stairs keep you fit.
8.0 / 10.0
the grounds and the size of the room.
The lack of dressing table space. Another unit or table for customers to put wash bags and perfume on.
6.0 / 10.0
Really nice location and from the outside, looks appealing
Paid £20 for an early check-in (let them know the day before as asked, so they could notify housekeeping)
On the day, room wasn't ready on arrival and we were told it wasn't a guarantee
Ended up paying £20 but didn't get in until 1345ish
Also the room temp was set at 24c (!), quite dusty and the carpet didn't fit the room, meaning some spikes were exposed...
Had a surprisingly tiny sink in the bathroom which was impractical. Surprising given the room was really spacious

Excellent breakfast
Maybe some duck down duvets would have been better potentially a better mattress

Bed was a memory foam mattress wich didn't agree with me lol
