The beds all coming with mini curtains which helps with privacy. It was generally quiet and the lounging area was really nice.
The toilet in the room was small and smelled really bad. I suspect the ventilation is not working well but I really do think a toilet that small should be maintained regularly. I visited the restrooms on the first floor more often just because it is roomier. There was not alot of space in the room - there is no where you can sit other than on your bed. For some reason, my assigned bed had no nearby charging points and no light which might have been inconvenient since I was given the upper bunk bed. Right outside our window was a smoking area - not great. Windows do not open high enough so it felt really warm.

Cleanness and Construction aesthetics. Is beautiful!
I had to pay to hold my small bag for a few hours before check-in.

Extremely affordable hostel for a very central York location. I have stayed at this property numerous times and never had a bad experience. Privacy curtains on the bed are a big plus; bafflingly a lot of hostels still don’t have them! The breakfast is decent enough and similarly affordable. Check-in has always been hassle free and the staff are friendly. If you don’t mind staying in shared accommodation then this hostel/hotel is ideal for a night out or for concerts or events in town. Haven’t stayed in their private rooms but know they do offer them too!
The building leaves a little to be desired in terms of overall upkeep but I suspect this has to do with the age of the property. Facilities, particularly the bathrooms, have been somewhat hit and miss in the past.

It’s a beautiful property in a really wonderful location! Close to the railway and some fun pubs.
NO WIFI most of the time! They did move my room after a few days but if you work online and need a connection this place is NOT for you. NO hot water in my room the last few days. Cold showers.

Good location, nice house, bedrooms clean
The restroom was very small inside our bedroom, but just the size really.

Genel olarak çalışanlar güler yüzlüydü. Konumu harikaydı, her yere yürüyerek ulaşabiliyorsunuz. Ancak her şey para ile karşılanıyor. Örneğin check-out yaptıktan sonra valizinizi emanette tutmak için para ödemeniz gerekiyor. Bir fincan çay ikramı dahi yok.
Misafirlere en azından çay ikram edilebilir. Çıkış yaptıktan sonra valizinize para ödemenizi doğru bulmuyorum. Ayrıca mobilyaların da temizlenmesi gerekli

Amazing location.
Old leaky windows and no curtains/shutters. It was VERY cold (end of November) and I couldn’t block out the street light to sleep. Half the light bulbs were dead, so poor lighting. Bathroom was an absolutely tiny wet room so you got soaking feet if you wanted to use the loo after a shower and shower water was barely warm. Not great considering it cost £85 for a single room

Fab location, brilliant price for a triple room on a Saturday night, very comfortable and clean.
Bathroom had a damp smell about it.

Good location. Within walking distance to train station and sites of York.
The beds in the hostel were loud and uncomfortable. The staff also split my friend and I up into separate rooms despite booking together. She was placed in a mixed dorm as a single woman with only men. Not a very safe decision!

Good staff & convenient location.
Refund policy. I have cancelled last two days reservation but was refunded only one day's amount.
14 days stay policy should be flexible so that some one in real need get benefit of staying more.

The decor is great and the beds are comfy. Excellent storage and good views over Micklegate.
Some cooking facility would be ideal. And please remind people to bring the ID they used for the online check in as this was requested.

great location and price

The privacy
The noise from the other share roommates and the attitude of the receptionist.
3.0
the location and the curtains that each bunk bed had for privacy
the toilet and shower are inside the dorm room, so when someone uses the toilet the dorm room smells! No microwave, no kitchen, the bar closes at 6pm. the bathrooms were always dirty.

Property was very central to York City Centre.
The TV remote was missing from my twin bunk private room.
Bathroom smaller that I thought it would be.

It was noisy at 2.30am. Lots of shouting and slamming doors. Nobody intervened to stop it.

Very good location and nice stuff

Overall it was pretty good; the beds were beds, the food was food, and the location was great. There's parking nearby; everything in York is around a 10-minute walk from the furthest place on the opposite side of the walled city, so it's not hard to find a place to park. Pillows, blankets, etc., were provided, you might need your own towel though.
It's about what you'd expect from a hostel; everything was good enough, and it's cheaper than most other places.

Great location and a very friendly staff. Lots of conveniences on site as well. Including luggage storage.
It was pretty loud the night I stayed, BUT that is luck of the draw in a hostel.

Good location, very few services available
The mattresses were loud and rubber, the sheets and bedding were low quality and scratchy.
They tried to charge us 4 pounds to use a towel, then they did not have any for us to use.

The privacy that comes with the curtains
Nothing much

Rooms were nice, great old building.
They charge to store your luggage, if you are a guest. Never had this in any other hotel/hostel in the world so I was a bit surprised...

the room was expensive with no carpet or rugs,

Location, bed curtains
I booked to stay two nights in an 8-bed room at this hostel, then extended for a third night, again in an 8-bed room. Several years of travel experience lets me know that typically hostels let you keep the same bed in this situation. The next morning, after 11, I was told not only that I’d have to repack to change to another identical room, but also that my room wouldn’t be available until 3. They were impolite and manipulative about it so I left a bad review.
A few hours later, in the new room, I notice an extra £5 was charged to my card. I was never told that I would be charged, and the charge summary area was left suspiciously blank! When asked what the charge was for, the receptionist gave no answer, but advised I return tomorrow morning to get a refund, and speculated it was probably for a late checkout, even though I was staying another night!
This hostel is deceptive, disrespectful and possibly criminal for secretly charging my card without explanation, likely in hopes I wouldn’t notice. I also had some jeans go missing that same day. Booking customer support did nothing, as is always the case, hence its low TrustPilot score.
