Not sure I liked anything about the property, had no choice but to stay there, all decent properties were fully booked.
Didn’t see any staff…. One of the bedrooms had a sink next to the bed and the toilet was behind a weird curtain / plasterboard.
Very itchy in bed, not sure why.
Bathroom light didn’t work, couldn’t see as it was pitch black, had to use my torch on my phone.

Room was clean but seriously needs decorating, nothing that made you go wow it was quiet as we were at back of hotel didn’t see any other guests, no reception staff etc there at all, the restaurant & bar needs reopening too, we stayed there many years ago when it was 5 star hotel it was amazing sadly not now, it is in a good location but as previously stated needs a lot of work
Seriously needs decorating, need permanent staff there too, no breakfast facilities and bar not open either

There were 2 very helpful ladies in the morning that offered to change my room, but this evil owner just totally ruins it for everyone.
Hi I tried staying at this hotel last night and I was met with a various number of issues, there was a slug in the room when I arrived and it petrified me first of all and because I could not contact these people,I wrote a review,I did not sleep, the guy who owns the place storm's In the next day banging on my door, telling me if I want to write reviews get out of his place,he told me I would get my money back, now I have no place and he still has my money. I cannot believe this guy!!!! Why is he tolerated on Booking.com. I need my refund right this minute.

good location in Rugby town centre
bathroom was dirty, had not been cleaned, hairs everywhere. shower pressure was poor due to the shower being encrusted with limescale. The bedroom carpet had debri over it and hadn’t been vacuumed. the curtain rail came away from the ceiling when we closed them. Staff did ask about the room as we were heading out and offered another room, but was not time to move rooms. On checking out no one asked about the stay.

We didn't like anything it was the pit's, terrible location opposite the loudest pub in rugby, the room was mouldy and smelly ,stains on everything, the bed was completely broken in half and they tried to make it look ok...when reported the guy we spoke to seemed annoyed, who ever made the bed up hid the fact it was smashed, we got another room which was just as dirty and smelly but luckily no broken bed...no staff at all on site so in all a terrible place to visit and a rip off at £81 a night....better off sleeping in a ditch.
All the above, didn't like anything about it..... appauling place and the access is a rusted out fire escape which is totally unsafe to use and should be reported it's a health hazzard

location was good for me
not so much the property but the area felt a bit intimidating… i ate local Turkish food and had an anaphylactic allergic reaction which made me fall on ground instantly a few times I believe which must have seemed as if I was drunk perhaps. but there was no one about to help in street or in hotel and I didn’t have my ep.pen to self medicate so it felt very disorienting trying to stay awake and get into hotel …. I’m used to hotels having 24hr staff

Location good
Bathroom left with remnants of someone's shaving in the sink. No kettle in room, no visible staff

very close to town
The bed was absolutely diabolical. The mattress was so thin and literally worn out, when you sat on it you could feel the frame underneath.
Didn’t see any staff to be able to report this too, there was no one there

The listing boasts
The Carlton offers bright, airy rooms with free Wi-Fi, 0.5 miles from the centre of Rugby. There is a stylish, modern bar and the restaurant uses fresh, quality produce. The Carlton offers a small, free car park.
Each bedroom is well appointed with a flat-screen TV, tea/coffee-making facilities and an individual private bathroom. Some rooms have been individually decorated and there is a room service menu.
The contemporary hotel restaurant serves a menu that is constantly changing with the season’s ingredients. A tasty breakfast is also served every morning in the stylish dining room.
There are a range of whiskies, beers, and exclusive wines and spirits to enjoy in the Carlton Hotel's relaxed public bar.
However,
The room was not bright and airy. It was run down and dirty. The daily cleaner was very pleasant, but this entailed a bed make, towel change and rubbish removal. The room required complete clean, repaint and repairs.
There was old rubbish behind the bed side cabinet. The shower guard did not fit, all the doors were damaged – the toilet door not lockable. Only 2 of 6 spot lights work in the bedroom.
A blow heater is provided so the room is warm – a good job as the outside door would not fully close. It is close to the town centre.
We never met or saw any staff apart from 1 cleaner.
The bar was never open or accessible. It was behind a locked door.
The hotel restaurant was never open. There is no room service menu. There was no breakfast available on any day. There was no relaxed public bar.
This is not a hotel offering. It’s similar to a 2 star Motel.
The pictures on the site bear no resemblance to the actual rooms. The pictures and text are miss selling. Its 2 star at best – go with that in mind and it would be fair. It’s nowhere near 4 star.

The hotel is quite centrally located
I do not know where to start. Except the location, everything was very far away from the expectation. You can feel the springs of the mattress, flush was not functioning, hot water is very unstable ...

Clean tidy room, staff helpful in getting parked as car park was full, but had arrangements for overflow.
Room and hotel in general a little dated, but for price, just a niggle really.

The room was big
Upon arrival we had to ring somebody to get in, who then over the phone directed us to our room, I was then told no breakfast on offer the following day as given staff the day off (august bank holiday).
As described on booking.com there is a hotel restaurant and bar and a room service menu, this is not true, the bar was empty and no staff to be seen for the Friday or Saturday night. No room service menu. We were immediately disappointed on arrival.
Next to the kettle was a 2lt bottle of water which I thought was a nice touch, but then once again shocked as the seal was broken and about a quarter of it was missing (very questionable hygienic standards), also had half a toilet roll in the bathroom. No hand soap only a small shower gel. Shower head was caked in lime scale so pressure was extremely poor.
Oh yeah and room was tidied on the Saturday morning and they didn't replace the sugar, we noticed this on the Sunday morning when we went to make a cup of tea.
So basically we arrived and immediately was disappointed, the stay was disappointing and then we left disappointed. If we hadn't paid before arrival I would have argued the price.
NO WAY A 4 STAR HOTEL..... ITS MORE LIKE A GLORIFIED HOSTEL.
