Absolutely amazing staff! Beautiful outdoor Onsen (especially lovely on colder days), one can also book a private bath. The food was sublime! Delicate presentation and delicious. The most amazing part though was that after the first night we told them that two people would prefer vegetarian food and not only did they prepare the rest of their meals vegetarian, they prepared the whole feast as delicately and with as many different creations as the traditional food for non vegetarians!

硫黄の温泉と単純泉の両方を満喫できた。
一人旅でも気がね無く食事を楽しめた。
露天風呂が少しぬるかった。
隣の事だけど、第二ロープウェイの運行情報も提供して欲しかった。

Nice view. Very friendly staff
Location is a bit far. We expected the hotel to inform us in advance that the ropeway was closed. Dinner was good but breakfast was too light. Don't think here is the best value for money given this is low season.

Great location for walkers coming off the mountains looking for some luxury.
We were allocated a member of staff to explain everything including all the new food we were eating. Ashen did a great job. Thanks
More expensive than it should have been.

Really enjoyed my stay
A bit expensive

Perfectly located at the end of our trail; very convenient for ropeway (when open),and bus connections; highlights were spa area-very luxurious; and quality of meals (breakfast and dinner)- traditional Japanese and beautifully prepared local dishes.
Service at dinner was a bit rushed.

The staff were all very courteous and attentive, and answered any questions we had. The included meals were amazing, as well as the Onsen facilities. Has the option of booking a private onsen for opposite gendered couples. The staff changed the room setting from day to night needs with seeing up there mattresses whilst we were at dinner, which was surprising. Got to pick out our own style yukatas. The location is right next to Shinhotaka Ropeway.
It's a bit far to get to, especially via bus.

Everything was Nice, the staff was respectefull, discret and Nice.. the place is far from the town but but Nice and near the roppeway and the bus terminus . onsen was beautifull..I love the atmosphère.. I will come back again.
Nothing, everething is fine...
May be the hotel could think of putting a shuttle from Takayama to the hotel during the matsuri periods after the evening procession.. in spring and autumn... maybe there would be a lot more many people who would come to the hotel... apart from that I loved my stay.

I like dinner too much because it includes the famous Hida beef.

the hotel is at the base of Shinhotaka ropeway the tourist attraction.
next to the bus stop, very easy to access the hotel by public transport.
the Staff can communicate in English.
Very nice outdoor hot spring with the view of Japan alps
the room is large and very comfort
the hotel has quite vintage style decoration
view in the front side (car park) is not as good as back side of the hotel (river and alps)

The Hotel is beautiful in location and design, rooms were impeccably clean and views were amazing. Staff are extremely polite and incredibly attentive to all guest needs. Smoking area is very nice as well.
In the vicinity of the Shinhotaka Ropeway which allows for stunning views of the mountain ranges (given its a clear day) and access to amazing outdoor onsen.
Travelling to and from the hotel is quite difficult. Personally we travelled by train from Tokyo - Matsumoto and then bus service from Matsumoto - Hirayu Onsen - Shinhotaka Ropeway / Hotel Hotaka.

love the location. at the foot of Shi Hotaka ropeway. can catch the first ride up. love the peace and quiet. the hotel is older but I love the charm. very clean. stayed at the ryokan and it was comfortable. breakfast was great
nothing. outdoor onsen was lovely

The dinner and breakfast were very delicious, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Very close to the shinhotaka ropeway

The location was remote and the view was quite nice, but this worked both ways. Although dinner and breakfast were included and fairly decent, it certainly didn't feel like a 2-Michelin star restaurant. Perhaps it all matters on the season, but drinks were not included, unfortunately.
The Onsen is quite nice and relaxing and you can even book a private Onsen.
Staff were friendly and helpful but will struggle a bit with English.
There are no convenience shops around. Seemed like everything was extra and had to pay for them.
Drinks were a bit expensive and there was no option for all you can drink as other places offer.
The toilet room smelled bad.
Heating worked really well but it's noisy.
There's a strong sulfur/mineral smell throughout the hotel but that's expected but can be a bit off-putting.

Onsen resort adjacent to the Mt. Hotaka ropeway. Exceptional location, onsen and food. Hotel provides Yukata for dinner/breakfast. Outside was 1*C but the hotel/rooms are toasty warm. Beautiful onsen, especially the outdoor onsen...bonus if it's snowing! Excellent food, especially dinner. The Hida beef is excellent and an extra serving can be ordered at the table. Japanese style room was dated with no real decoration but warm and the futon was fine for a night. If you have back or have trouble getting up off the floor then you'd probably prefer the Western style room/bed. Older, primarily Japanese guests. The drive from Matsumoto is really nice with some great views. The ropeway is great and will have new gondolas/cars in a couple months.
Room felt quite dated...but everything else made it a non-issue.
