About this house rental
Located in the fascinating district of Graziella, an ancient Arab quarter on the marvelous island of Ortigia, the historic center of the city of Syracuse.
La Palazzata, independent structure, like the typical houses of the island, develops on two floors.
On the ground floor we find the living area with a comfortable double sofa bed, served by a laundry / bathroom.
On the first floor La Palazzata has two double bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms and a comfortable and spacious kitchen complete with all comforts.
La Palazzata also offers its guests a comfortable and relaxing terrace with the typical suggestive view on the roofs of Ortigia, on which it is possible to relax and enjoy lunch or dinner thanks to the kitchenette that serves the terrace.
The location is excellent because it is located a few steps from the first accesses to the sea and from the main attractions of the island and it is also possible to arrive near the apartment even with the ZTL (limited traffic zone) active.
La Palazzata offers free wi-fi with all rooms equipped with air conditioning and smart TV connected to the network.

Our stay was a mixed bag… started out great and went south from there. We stayed for two nights, the first night not a problem on the second day while my husband was taking a shower the sewer backed up and flooded into our bedroom. Property manager showed up within 30 mins but could not fix the problem and requested we not use that bathroom or the kitchen for the remainder of our time. We closed the door to the bathroom but still could smell the odor. I requested a refund for the second nights stay. It has been 2 weeks with no response from the manager/owner. Very disappointing. This is the first VRBO that I have had a problem with.

A quirky apartment set in the midst of charming car free winding lanes and courtyards. Guiding video and advice re parking was very helpful.
However, we were given only one set of keys for 2 couples. Keys are needed to get in and out of the courtyard gate and then into the house itself. The lockbox is outside the gate so two sets of keys are necessary to ensure no one is either locked in or out when going out or staying in separately and and having to come back or wake up to give access. Being locked in with the key outside the courtyard in the lockbox felt unsafe. One set of keys just does not work.
Long and short black and hairs were left in shower from previous guests.
There were a number of needed repairs and replacements that the owner is attending to, but some things are more difficult to fix:
Cooking in the kitchen causes the kitchen and bedrooms to fill with smells and smoke as there is no extractor fan.
However, the terrace was a great bonus and cooking can be done there if everything is carried up and down the stairs.
Low water pressure makes it difficult to use the overhead showers and you need to wait between showers for the water to heat up again in each bathroom.
It would have been good to have had an iron and ironing board available.
The sofa downstairs in the photos has been replaced with a sofa bed that is uncomfomfortable as seating.
The little balcony off the kitchen was a delight with a pretty table and chairs and cats visiting.

The place was clean and comfortable. The location is great! Loredana was awesome to work with and responsive to our needs. The photos depicted were accurate.
