GREAT TIME IN WESTPORT
Collected keys in the bar,a very friendly girl showed us to the apartment ,very well equiped apartment ,plenty of tea coffee, condiments' washing and dish washer powder etc., vVery large apartment, Excellant choice for breakfast, and served untill 11am , 15/20 minute walk to town, 10 euro taxi home after a great night out . ALL THE STAFF IN THE HELM WERE VERY FRIENDLY .Good value for money including taxi fare.

Not as Described
Clean, warm (adjustable thermostat), and staff were nice.
Advertised as having a bath - but it did not. The supposedly newly installed shower is small (I don't believe there ever was a bath there). "Toiletries provided" are the cheap, generic, 2-in-1 kind. Food was terrible, good reviews had us excited but the breakfast was horrible. Oily/greasy, eggs overcooked and rubbery, hash brown inedible - like it was a day old reheated. There were two pots of coffee, one was fine, the other was the most disgusting I'd ever tasted so I don't understand what was going on there, perhaps it was yesterday's as well. Also advertised was free parking 200m away - it's only "free" if you are willing to risk the fine for not paying. I spoke to 2 different staff members - all the parking is pay& display "but the parking officer doesn't make it down that far very often, and will come into the pub to check on people" - well I guess that's fine if you want to sit in the pub all day and like to gamble. Another misrepresentation was a hairdryer in the room, so I had to go outside with wet hair to the pub to ask for one and wait for one to be found. Also issues like the front door being a glass sliding door with a flimsy lock made us concerned about security, one window in the bedroom had a broken latch so it didn't fully close, and there was an incessant tapping the entire time we could never pinpoint. Lots of crashing and banging first thing in the morning, bins or kegs maybe? Beds had squishy mattresses which we found very uncomfortable and woke with shoulder/neck pain because of. The location isn't great either - a couple restaurants (one is weekend only) and shops, but the main area of town is a drive away and very hilly, just to note. The Helm did not seem like a holiday place at all, most of the other patrons were work-people. As I said, all staff were very nice, but the place and the stay overall was terrible.

Will definitely be going back..
Great location, very clean, staff excellent & always willing to help without question. Helm Bar on the quay front was our choice for food for the evening & was absolutely excellent. Highly recommend the helm bar & restaurant. Breakfast in the morning was also fabulous and likewise the staff were excellent.

Very good
Always a nice place to stay with friendly staff and a good breakfast!
The parking is a bit annoying, had to leave the car a good distance from the property and haul the luggage with us. The front of our car was dented the next day which isn't the Helms problem but a bit disappointing at the end of a nice break
