Cute little house, and great for a little weekend away. It is not obvious from the listing, but it is located on a busy road, and the beach is across the street. The owner was great to work with and the house was very clean and comfortable.

Thanks, Elizabeth and Bob for our stay at your house! We loved the location in beautiful Branford and enjoyed the easy access to the beach. Bob was extremely responsive, making check-in seamless. It was great to have four separate bedrooms, each equipped with comfortable bedding. It's worth noting that the bedrooms are each separated by only a thin sheet of board through which sound and light escape, meaning there's little privacy. The house has few frills; for example, the hand soap in both the kitchen and bathroom was extremely watered down. But if you're looking for a basic place to stay near the beach, this fits the bill.

Visited family back in CT and this was the perfect place to stay. Kind of like a Tardis, it was bigger on the inside! Thank you!

Small house a short walk from beach that well accommodated our party of five. Clean and comfortable, well laid out and equipped with everything you’d need.

We didn’t want to leave after our week stay… so we didn’t! Bob didn’t have his place available but we found another because this area is magic, we loved it. Bobs place was perfect, checked all the boxes and more! Park on the right side of house on the gravel part of that driveway. Your rear view mirror should almost touch the house, just enough space for person to get out carefully. The paved part is for neighbors to come and go.It was totally fine to unload and then park tighter. We made friends, had a blast and slept so so well. Thank you Bob!!!!

We had a great time visiting with family that lived in the area. Location is great, very close to area restaurants. The house was clean and comfortable. We loved the porch for relaxing in the evenings and the short walk to small private beach.

Our family loved the house--it was the perfect "homebase" for our day trips to New York City and Boston. The beach access was lovely for short walks on the beach and one traditional spring break dip in the ocean for two of our daughters (way too cold to swim--or for most of us to even put a foot in). Our girls found the beds very comfortable; they're on the softer side for us, but they were cozy and rooms are well appointed. There were plenty of towels for our family of five to shower and dry off after that ocean dip. The kitchen had a lot of pans and dishes for a cottage, though some simple seasonings and bags or wrap for leftovers would be a nice touch. Communication with the property managers was great. They were informative, responsive, clear, and friendly. If we're back in the area, we'd be happy to stay again.

Close to beach, little ones loved having the Atari, plenty of space to rest after a long day of museum touring. The kids were sad to leave.

This home was perfect for our needs. We grew up in Branford and we’re back to visit family. It was nice to be so close with a little room to spread out. We took our 2 young grandchildren with us and we’re so grateful for the gates for the stairs! Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was comfortable. Parking was tight but owner makes that clear up front so wasn’t a problem for us.
We look forward to staying again in the future!

This is our third time there. We stayed at the property while visiting family in the area. It is a super short walk to the beach though we didn’t go this time. The house is perfectly clean which is the most important to me. The water pressure is good, the kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable, the washing machine and dryer worked great. It was comfortable for our group of 6. We will be back.

About 200 feet to the beach
The best aspect of this property is distance to beach. Easy walk for families. Our youngest is 6 but I don’t think younger kids would have any problem. We went back and forth many times per day.

Great location and view
Great location! A quick walk to a private beach with fantastic views. The house was clean and exactly what we were looking for. Centrally located about 15-20 minutes from everywhere we needed to go. Made amazing memories and thankful for our hosts hospitality. Check in and check out were a breeze.

Fun, but dirty
We enjoyed our stay and had a good time playing the old atari games and hitting the beach. The beds were comfortable. We were disappointed by the available dishes and such in the kitchen. There weren't even many glasses to use. It was also not very clean. There were mildewy towels in the washer and the brooms looked decades old and gross. I didn't want to touch them, let alone use them to clean up.
We will stay somewhere else next time, but do not regret our stay. The house is cute and my family enjoyed being together and so close to the beach.

Great House
My friends and I enjoyed our stay here. It was decorated in such a fun way. Plenty of room. Bedroom walls are a bit thin so keep noise in mind when planning. Loved it here and will def stay again if I come back

Adorable Cottage!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the location is perfect and the cottage was just as advertised. My 13 year older loved the gaming nook under the stairs and I loved how clean everything was upon our arrival! Communication with Bob and Liz was great. We will be back for future family visits!

Nice get away
We had a great time and found many things to do in the area when not going to the beach.
The neighbors were very nice and the neighborhood was also nice.
We had great hosts that responded when we needed them which was not often because every thing was ready to go.
The house had every thing we needed and more for a rental.
We would rent again in the future.

Great stay
This was a great home with views of the ocean and access to a beautiful beach. The only thing is there is no parking in the area just the two spaces in the driveway. Would stay again!

quirky beach cottage
We throughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the area, especially nearby places like Hammanasset State Park and coastline nature walks. The Limewood Beach is a major asset, as is the local fish store and Dockside restaurant. The cottage appliances are up-to-date and ample, the a/c is excellent. A memorable experience in a delightful setting.

Honest Feedback
The property was nice but there are a few things I wish we knew before we left. Yes there is a beach in walking distance to the property which was awesome!! What we didn't expect was it COVERED in seashells. By covered I mean 2 feet deep and the entire length of the beach. A shovel would have helped. The shells made it impossible to get to the water without shoes. The couches are not comfortable at all. They are gaming couches or something and definitely not something you can relax in. We needed to buy an HDMI cable so we could get all our usual shows as “old fashion” cable and dvds wasn't working for us. The 2 dvds we did try froze halfway thru and we couldn’t get them to play after that. Granted it rained 3/4 of our trip! The nearest public beach is 20 mins away. There was no can opener or Tupperware at the house. We bought both and left it there for the next guests. Again, small things but for a family of 5 cooking meals even on vacation this made things challenging for us. The beds were comfy and the AC upstairs and down was greatly appreciated!! The first night 2 of 3 kids slept with the lights on as the upstairs was too dark for them. We bought nightlights and left them. The walls upstairs are paper thin and look like and old cottage. Light comes thru from one room to the next just as a general FYI. The brewery nearby was fantastic with great beer and food trucks!

Beach week with family
This beach house was conveniently located. Three minute walk to the private beach. One mile to restaurants, less than two miles to downtown Branford. The house was well stocked including cooking items, gas grill, DVD player built in to tv. The upstairs playroom was perfect for the kids. The hosts responded quickly when needed.
Would definitely return.

Branford get-away
Great cottage for a weekend stay. Clean, well stocked, steps from the water, good restaurants near by and lovely, responsive owners just down the street.

We enjoyed our stay here
Porch very nice to sit on, short walk to the beach. It's decorated very nicely. The beds were comfortable. There are restaurants you can walk to. We went to Lenny's and The Stand and had a drink and listened to music. My son really liked the loaded chips there. It was a nice halfway place to meet as my son is in college in Boston and we are from Philly area. The owners were very responsive. Dish and hand soap were available, glasses and dishes were as well (did not cook here). The price was reasonable too and we appreciated that. Branford is a cute area, and a short drive to New Haven, where we went to eat at Modern Apizza (2nd best, after Sally's!).

Comfortable, great location
My husband and I stayed three nights in order to get our boat, which is at a local marina, ready for the season. Despite it being a working getaway, the house still felt relaxing and like a real break. Very comfortable in every respect, exceptionally clean. We lucked out with the weather and got to enjoy the beach after 'work' a couple of times. Would absolutely stay again!

Long stay by the beach!
This review was based on our family of four’s long-term stay of approximately sixish weeks.
This is a cute little cottage close to a small private beach in Branford. Bob and Liz’s information and instructions were so helpful, which made parking and check-in a breeze. There were also very quick to respond to any communication, and were very helpful throughout our stay...great hosts!
This house was very kid-friendly in some ways - there was a pack-and-play, and some toys and games (although missing pieces). The screened-in porch upstairs was perfect and our kids very quickly claimed it as their playroom (and didn’t care that it could get cold in there). The kitchen was pretty well stocked, and the WiFi was AMAZING. The washer and dryer were a great size. All of the bedrooms were decorated nicely, and the beds were comfy. There were dressers in every one, which helped to store all of our clothes (although some drawers were broken/stuck); however, there were no closets anywhere so that made storing our suitcases/bins/winter coats more complicated. There was tons of extra bedding and plenty of towels, which was perfect. Like all “kitschy” beach houses, some things were “kind of” broken or in need of an update ; however, we had no major issues while there!
Some things to note if traveling with a family with small children - the walls in between the bedrooms are very thin (you can see into the other rooms through cracks in the wall), so bringing noise machines helped us tremendously. Also, two of the bedroom doors would not stay closed, so that complicated sleeping arrangements a bit. Also, the one bathroom only has a shower (no tub) so bring a portable tub for little ones! There is a little fireplace stove downstairs that does a great job at warming the house, but can get hot to the touch, so a gate would be helpful. Should also mention that this house is on a busy road with no sidewalks, which makes it tricky to walk with the family anywhere (although it didn’t stop us...we just had to time it at quieter times); however you are a very short drive to the green, playgrounds, etc. Parking is tight, so it made getting littles out of car seats tricky.
Overall, this is a perfect place to stay for a long weekend at the Connecticut shore. However, I don’t think we would do an extended stay with our kids again.
