About this house rental
The McMaster House was a single family home built in 1917. It has evolved into a wonder vacation flagship anchor for the Elms Waterfront Cottages. The front of the building is where our office and gift shop are located. With a large kitchen, dining, bathroom, and living sun porch all on the back of the building and six bedrooms on the second floor, this 2000 square foot property is ideal for your large group. There are five queen beds, a bunk bed with a double and single, and a futon couch that pulls out to a double.
Outside you will find a large deck, BBQ and private campfire and views of the water. Inside, you will find a full kitchen includes pots and pans, dishes and silver, refrigerator and stove with microwave and Mr. Coffee. Three air conditioners, two TV's, WiFi and all blankets and linens and towels are provided. Kayaks, rowboats and a private beach are provided. A 10% discount on jet ski, river rafting and our pontoon boat is available to our renters.
You can get wood from us at $1 per log or bring it into the property. Charcoal is also available at the local convenient stores next to the property.
Local restaurants, a wine store and beer is in walking distance. Hiking to Hadley Mtn, bike rides, gold a 1/4 mile away and horseback riding are all in our back yard. The rodeo is in town every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday beginning in July.
This is a family owned boutique property for the past 24 years. We have a lot of repeat customers and large families that visit each year from NY, NJ, CT and MA primarily. We host family reunions and schedule two weddings per year.
We are on the Hudson River where it merges with Lake Sacandaga. The name of this bay is known as Tiosaronda Bay which means the merging of two waters as named by the Iroquois Indians. Our Chief Tiosaronda can be found carved into a big pine tree overlooking the property and protecting the children.
If you have pets, you are welcome to bring them. Just let us know as we have a $30 per night charge per animal.
Fishing is popular in the mouth bass, such a great eating fish is so pure here in our waters with no pollution coming into the water rivulets.
We are located half way between Lake George and Saratoga. Lake George has a lot of amusements, boat rides, wax museums, memento shops and many hotels and motels. The Lake is beautiful, clean and know as the Queen of the American Lakes. You will love to discover her beauty.
And 15 minutes south of us is Saratoga Springs famous for having the first horse race track in the country. Racing season is five weeks long and begins at the end of July. The fine dining and shops along broadway will treat you to a nice evening on the town.
So, we would love to have you visit us. We will host your stay, help you find the kinds of fun you want and steer you in the right direction. Welcome!

This home was very dirty and contained many mice droppings in the kitchen and throughout the home. The owner was not at all surprised to learn about the mice droppings so I assume he knew about the problem. The owner was unable to offer equal accommodations so we immediately left and have only been offered a minor partial refund of the week long rental. I have been renting homes with my family for many years and have never picked up and left a rental. Our family vacation was ruined. I strongly do NOT recommend.

Loved the place. We had 11 of us from two families staying in the house and it was great. Tons of fun indoors and out. It was a short drive to Saratoga where we had dinner one night after the races. The Cumberland Farms within walking distance was a lifesaver more than once. Even the spotty cell service in the area turned into a positive, keeping us all off our devices more than usual!!

While property has lots things to do on lake we enjoyed the area.
At first we were not sure if we would like the accommodations as it never said it was part of the office building below. We ended up having no issue. One recommendation is to close off the office to the home which was left open during the day. We had a key to lock our bedroom but that's not ideal for vacations as we often had to keep track of two keys with a large group.
The fire pit and lake were very relaxing and having the liquor store and convenience store next to us was a plus.
Make sure you bring towels, as we did need more and they were in short supply
Scott and Chandler were great hosts
Rent to boats so worth it

We were a group of 12 and we’re pretty much comfortable with our stay. You can do kayaking by the lake or just sit by the lake and relax.

The size and layout of the vacation lodge was well suited for our family of 9. There was ample sleeping and living space. The kitchen was set up nicely. The kids enjoyed all the water sport equipment; and, we all enjoyed eating out on the deck and sitting around the campfire in the evening. We found the area to be very friendly and quite safe. A third bathroom would have been great. However, we managed nicely. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

A very old House in need of repairs. Bathroom sink falling off the wall, exposed wires in the shower ceiling, the house was actually on a river Not a lake. The river was not accessible at the house. The spot was not private, there was loud traffic all night long. I learned to not believe everything you read and see pics of on VRBO. I was naive enough to think because of the hefty price for one night at the house it would be a quality place.

Really enjoyed the weekend here. We were 3 families totaling 11 people and there was plenty of room for all of us. The large lawn and lake front were exactly what we wanted for our group to hang together. Having access to the paddle boards, row boats, kayaks, and pedal boats was great.

We stayed in the McMaster House this past weekend and had a great time. The access to the water equipment was great and there was plenty of space for our family of 14 to stay. Great location and close to Lake George. We will definitely recommend to others!

The house is not on Lake Luzerne. It is on the Hudson River. It is in the town of lake Luzerne.
It’s about a 20 min drive to lake George and it is local to so many convenient things. You can walk to get ice cream, liquor store and convenience store which was awesome. The house is super confusing. So the house sleeps 12 and there are 2 full bathrooms. Every bedroom is upstairs and only one bedroom has access to the bathroom and all the other people had to go down the not so trusty stairs to use the bathroom. The office/ souvenir shop is not only attached to the building but the stairway from the front door of the office goes directly to your rental so technically anyone can go up there.
The house had a great amount of non motorized water toys to use at any time which was amazing and the ground were nicely kept. The beachfront isn’t in front of your home. You need to pack as if you are going to the beach and walk through the resort to get to it with your chairs and whatnot. All in all we had a nice time.

The house was what we imagined. The surprises were the condition of the upstairs bathroom it needs a full overhaul and
the cleanliness overall was very deficient. Cleaning
staff needs to spend a lot more time on turn over. We had to ask for cleaning supplies and equipment to clean it ourselves
since we had toddlers and a crawling baby.
The property manager was very nice and did accommodate us as much as he could during the week. Just a bit of TLC necessary on the property.

We stayed in the large cottage attached to the office with a deck and an outdoor firepit. There's a charcoal grill. There was a large grassy lawn between us and our nearest neighbor and we were right at the water access. We didn't have a problem with bugs. The rooms were large and had nice views. The staff was very friendly. It seemed like about half of the guests had dogs (as did we) - between the beach, the grass, and the yard game,, it was very dog friendly. we used the provided kayaks and platform boards. We also used Riverridin' - a water excursion group on the property - for a 2 hour float trip and rented a platform boat for a cruise with everyone (complete with a tube for towing). We did the Hadley Fire Tower hike (climb?) one day and on the one rainy day we went bowling in Glen Falls. If you're planning on cooking, you'll want to shop before you arrive as there is not much nearby. There is a good pizza takeout across the street, a convenience store , anbd a liquor store touching the property. The actual lake Luzerne is about a half mile away with a public beach.

My family really enjoyed all the water and outside activities at the Elms. The staff assisting with jet skis was very friendly. Our dog was even given a couple of treats. We enjoyed the outside entertainment on Sunday night as well!
