Welcome to Cabin Fever!
Cabin Fever is a beautiful, rustic, upscale log cabin with loads of recent updates, custom furniture, and more! This special place has over an acre of private land with mature hardwood forest, seasonal views of woodlands and mountains, and a private trail with a creek and waterfall, all just 4 miles from the slopes of Beech Mountain Ski Resort.
Activities and amenities on Beech Mountain include skiing, snow tubing, ice skating, sledding, restaurants, shopping, hiking, fishing, and more. Cabin Fever is also near Banner Elk at the foot of Beech Mtn, about 8 miles, with local shopping and dining options. The city of Boone is about 22 miles, and Blowing Rock is about 26 miles. The village of Valle Crucis is only 16 miles. In addition to Beech Mountain Ski Resort, Cabin Fever is near Sugar Mountain Ski Resort and Hawksnest Snow Tubing & Zip Lines. Watauga Lake is about 15 miles away, and Grandfather Mountain is about 20 miles.
The main level of Cabin Fever features wood floors, tongue-and-groove wood walls, vaulted ceilings, and exposed beams. The open great room offers leather furniture centered around an HD Smart TV and a stone floor-to-ceiling wood-burning fireplace. The adjacent kitchen boasts custom wood cabinets and stainless appliances, a central eat-in island, and a countertop accommodating four guests. The lower level bar area has additional dining seating for six more, accommodating ten on both levels. Four more may dine al fresco on the main level covered porch. The wrap-around covered porch has a charcoal grill, log rocking chairs, a porch swing, and a fantastic outdoor fireplace. There are two queen bedrooms on this floor, each with log furniture and an HD Smart TV. Both share a common bathroom with a huge tiled shower off the hallway.
The upstairs loft features a 12-foot shuffleboard game table. The huge bunk bedroom boasts two twin-over-twin log bunk beds, a full-sized futon sleeper, and an HD Smart TV. The adjacent full bathroom has a tub/shower combo.

If you're looking for a beautiful, roomy cabin with zero traffic, this is the perfect cabin. We loved our stay here but did not like the drive to and fro. Fortunately my husband adept in navigating steep, curvy roads and watchful of wildlife (saw bear, deer+++, raccoon). The cabin was gorgeous. Loved the beds and living room furniture. Great TVs and Wifi. Didn't get to use the hot tub but appreciated the privacy of its location. Not for you if you're looking for a place to use as a hub for local attraction (45 min from anything) but if you're wanting to be at peace with nature and to recharge, its perfect.

This cabin was clean and really nice. What we didn’t like was how far it was from anything. The drive way was very steep which made walking difficult. The kitchen utensils need to be updated as there was only a few forks. Overall the place was nice just very isolated.

Nice place away from everything

Overall very good other than main floor shower leaking into lower level bathroom after several uses. Judging from how the ceiling in the lower level bathroom this has been a problem for quite awhile.

Long weekend friends weekend!
Cabin Fever is a perfect place for a friends weekend away! It was remote and relaxing!
We enjoyed the decks, the hot tub, all the TVs to watch racing all weekend and the hiking trail in the back yard!
Definitely a remote location! Next time, we will bring all of our groceries with us so we do f have to go down the mountain throughout the trip, but we will definitely be back!!

To say our group was dissatisfied would be a huge understatement.
Let me begin with the positives to be fair. The cabin is very large and allows for a large group to spread out. The cabin is aesthetically pleasing. Bunk room is perfect for kids.
Now for the cons. The road that leads to the cabin is a private gravel road. When we arrived it was almost totally iced over. All three vehicles spun out multiple times. One of the vehicles almost slid off the road and did go on three wheels. To be honest it was terrifying and god forbid you slide off the road because it’s a huge drop off. This should be in bold when renting this cabin. You absolutely need 4 wheel drive or snow chains.
There is no cellular coverage at or on the private road leading to the property. If you get stuck which seems inevitable you will have to walk a significant distance to knock on a door for help.
There was a leak downstairs in the property. There is another review that mentioned this so we assumed the property manager would have taken care of it. We were wrong. If you take a shower on main floor it leaks into bathroom downstairs.
When we arrived the hot tub was half empty and the top was off. The water was ice cold and had a bunch of gunk in it. We had to refill and heat. Not the end of the world but just seemed cheap.
They basically have bunny ears tv channel options. Your run of the mill local channels. No cable. This is not specified on the rental listing. Again not a deal killer but you would expect basic cable in a property of this level.
Their WiFi was spotty and unreliable. This was a big issue considering they didn’t have any real tv options.
They also say they have a gas grill which is a lie. They have a cheap charcoal grill. When I say cheap it’s the type of grill you would use a few times and replace. We didn’t want to use it but it further emphasizes my point. I called and speak to someone regarding some of the issues we were having and they said they would have a manager contact me. That never happened.
Carolina Cabin Rentals isn’t interested in being forthcoming. They are interested in getting your money.

Great Ski Vacay
Moms trip to the mountains with the kids- perfect cabin for this stay. Very private, cozy and well done cabin. Proximity to Beech Mountain was a plus for us. Well stocked kitchen made eating in a breeze. Really enjoyed the hot tub and fireplaces. Comfortable bedding. Most definitely recommend. Be aware you are a bit of a drive to the grocery so come up the mountain prepared.

Very fun!
We were not at the cabin much so we only utilized the hot tub twice, but it was very nice, and the cabin was the perfect size for a group of 10 people!

Gorgeous Cabin
Absolutely awesome mountain cabin. Beautifully constructed and perfect for multiple families. Great indoor/outdoor fire place. Nice Smart TVs in each of the rooms (especially helpful w little kids). Overall great house and we would rent again. Couple things that were disappointing: the driveway was treacherous. Completely frozen over with 4in of fresh snow on top to hide it.. My 4x4 truck almost slid into the porch railing when we first arrived. Luckily I had brought chains but had to completely shovel and chip away driveway before we could back it out. Had to just park the other car at the crest of the driveway. Beware that driveway is very short, narrow and steep so not ideal for multiple cars when there is winter weather. Would have been nice for the management company to at least leave a couple bags of salt on the steps knowing the driveway was in such bad shape. Hot tub was also a disappointment. Water level was so low the jets shot in the air so we didn't use it. Lastly, everyone was excited to play shuffleboard on the awesome table but there was no extra sand/silicone so the pucks hardly slid. Was basically useless.

Wonderful Cabin!
Overall, a wonderful experience. We read all of the information provided before the trip and felt well prepared for what would be there versus what we needed to bring, with the exception of the coffee pot. We saw a Keurig in the photos and bought kcups only to find a regular pot when we got there. Not a big deal, but we are “coffee people” and would have preferred to know exactly what was there. We purchased the wood package and were happy to find plenty of firewood when we arrived. Unfortunately it was too wet to burn in its own, even with plenty of fire starters. We purchased a box of logs and were able to eventually use some of the wood provided in combination. Another small thing, but we also didn't have any potholders that were useable, which got tricky when using the oven. There was a furry pot holder looking thing in the drawer, but it isn't meant for heat - looked melted. The shower faucets had cold coming from hot and hot from cold. We quickly figured that out, but a bit confusing. There were many DVDs provided but no DVD player. A lot of light bulbs were out. The kitchen did not have good light at night when cooking because of this and we had to find a bulb in order to use the game room upstairs. These are relatively small issues but mentioning so you are aware. Now for the positives - we were very comfortable. The couches, beds and blankets were all great. The kitchen is nicely set up. The fireplace was wonderful. We enjoyed the swing on the porch. The area around the cabin was fun to explore. Loved all the room available for our family - made it easy to have family time and then spread out when needed. I would absolutely recommend this cabin and hope to return some day. Thank you!

Mountain Getaway
We hadd a very enjoyable stay at Cabin Fever in Beech Mountain, NC. The cabin is very inviting and cozy with ample room and comfortable furnishings for a wonderful family vacation. The setting is beautiful in a quiet neighborhood nestled in the mountain. I would like to return in the Spring/summer to see the gorgeous rhododendrums blooming.

cabin Fever
We very much enjoyed our stay at Cabin Fever. There are a few things I would like to see addressed. First from a safety standpoint, the large gap on the lefthand side of the upper staircase as you are coming down. I would fill that in with boarding so that a small child could not slip through. Both my 5 and 3 year old granddaughters could have fit through the opening. Next for convenience, I would put a long shelf with coat hooks to the left of the entrance door for hats, gloves and jackets. With 10 peoples staying the week we were there those things were everywhere! It would have been nice to have somewhere to keep them besides all over the gathering room furniture. There also is a leaking problem in the middle bathroom shower that needs to be addressed as the wood flooring outside the door and in the hallway is being ruined. Cabin Fever was an excellent choice for our family. The accommodations, what I thought would satisfy my family as a whole were excellent. We would highly recommend both Carolina Cabins and Cabin Fever to our friends and family. Thank you for making our Thanksgiving 2020 a success. Sincerely, Debbie Strickland.

Wonderful, clean, relaxing, perfect
If you are looking for relaxation and an escape from the hustle and bustle of the world then this is the place to go! We have been here 2 years in a row and loved every second of it. The fireplace on the porch, the slamming screen door, the sound of the waterfall/creek in this distance, and the perfect layout of the house is amazing. Will be back for sure.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cabin Fever, the outside fireplace was a hit with my family. I try to take a fall get away with kids and grandkids, very peaceful and a great place to spend with family. I hate to say anything negative, but the driveway was a challenge, parked on the side of the road, my car was not able to park in the drive way, talking with my family: we would book again, the blessing of good family time means a lot to me. My experience with Carolina Rentals was good. God Bless

Perfectly Splendid
This cabin was perfect for our anniversary trip with our friends and all the kiddos. We walked to the waterfall on the property multiple times, went over to Buckeye Rec and just overall loved the cabin. We loved the seclusion and everything the cabin has to offer. Only complaint is lacking of kitchen supplies but we brought most of our stuff prepped. We will be back next year hopefully!!
4.3
Disappointing and frustrating
The location is lovely, although hard to find. I was surprised to find that there was no place for a family of six to sit and have a meal together. The island with then four stools in the kitchen area was inadequate and the stool were flimsy and we had to keep putting them back together. If you wanted to cook a simple meal, the kitchen utensils were sadly lacking. The lighting on the stairs both up and down was inadequate and unsafe. In the "living room" such as it was, there were wires hanging dangerously from the tv and from the light which had been somehow gerry rigged to be plugged in. If one only wanted to drink and watch tv, this could have been adequate, but if you want to have family meals and enjoy the indoor as well as the outdoor, it is woefully inadequate. I could not recommend it for a family vacation.

Fun Mountain Getaway
We enjoyed our stay at Cabin Fever! It was clean and decorated nicely. The upstairs bunk bed room was perfect for kids! The porch fireplace was great for roasting marshmallows and we loved the hot tub. The property has a trail that leads to a small creek and waterfall; our pre-school age kids were able to walk down to it and had a ball playing in the water! Buckeye Lake Rec Center is very close by and has a great playground and trails to explore. Only small complaints were that the kitchen didn't seem to be fully stocked with all the utensils we needed and I wish the main living area was a bit bigger since we had 10 people. But overall I definitely recommend the cabin!

Cabin Fever Good But Not Great
Cabin Fever was a relatively new cabin, in good condition. It is somewhat remote, as you must travel a gravel road for roughly one mile to get to the cabin.
Positive items include: Nice furniture, very comfortable beds, nice deck area, beautiful outside wood burning fireplace on the deck, nice tvs in virtually every room, clean cabin, very quiet and somewhat isolated.
Negative items include: We had a bear at the cabin both days, going through the trash cans, which were plastic and not very secure. The bear actually came up on the deck while we were outside. Hot tub was disgusting and we did not use; no real games of any kind (pool table, etc); outside grill is very cheap and need to be replaced; can opener in kitchen was broken; Eating areas are insufficient (only place to eat inside is a high island, with 3 barstools, otherwise a table and 4 chairs outside on the deck); Parking is not sufficient, very steep and room for only 1-2 cars; Tried to call rental company to discuss the bear situation, and they never answered - glad I didn't have a real problem.
4.3
Cabin Fever
The cabin was absolutely perfect. We especially enjoyed the game at the top of the stairs. We spent hours playing tournaments with each other. It was little further than we hoped but we took the time to enjoy the wildlife coming to and from the cabin.

3 Stars
Three stars are given only because of the lack of concern given by the Carolina Cabin Rentals workers. The basement bathroom was not cleaned or finished (the shower was incomplete). On the main floor, the shower leaked into the basement bathroom, but when contacted the main office essentially did nothing, leaving us with few options. As such the week was a bit annoying as we had to carefully use the shower while waiting to hear back from the main office, which they never did. Otherwise, it was a good week.

We had an awesome time! The home is located in wonderful location, beautiful view, excellent outside fireplace and hot tub! The home is beautiful inside, lots of room, beds were comfortable and excellent lounge area with bar! The issues we came across were the home was not the cleanest. There was dust everywhere, spider webs/spiders in corners. The kitchen was dirty, cabinets had food on them and stove had food inside oven and on top. The pictures of the rental also need to be updated, there was no Keurig or large grill outside. We had a regular coffee pot which we had to go out and buy coffee and filters, unable to use the Kcups I had brought. There was a small charcoal grill available so the food we brought to grill we had to buy lots of charcoal to even cook. We made the rental company aware of these things and hopefully for the next renter those things will be corrected.

Perfect
Loved everything start with the company that managed our stay and the house was perfect fit. Nice location, so quiet and delightful.
Thank you, Cabin Fever!

I would have given 5 stars if we hadn't spent the majority of our time killing wasps and stinkbugs. I feel there may be a nest in the house with how many wasps we killed.

Nice for smaller families
Overall this is a nice property. We were fortunate it was available last minute when our other rental was canceled due to a water leak. We were a party of 7. The layout had the bunk room on the 3rd floor, two queens with shared bathroom on main floor and master on the bottom. That worked well for us, but you can hear everything in all the bedrooms through the closets. Sounds weird, but you can because of the cracks in the seams of the walls. There is not a lot of space on the main floor. All of the beds were very comfortable which was very nice! There are two sets of stairs and the bottom ones are slippery - we had three falls (adults), so consider this if you have small children. There is no dining area for a large party which was very disappointing for us. Although the kitchen has plenty of plates and eating utensils, the cooking pans were warped and the cooking utensils were cheap and minimal. It was very difficult to cook for so many people without the proper pots/pans and kitchen tools. There is a coffee pot, not a keurig as another review said. It would be helpful for the description of the property be accurate. We had to eat on the couch downstairs or in the main living area if we wanted to eat in the same room. The driveway and road to get to this house is tricky and steep - would recommend appropriate tires or AWD in the winter. Is scary for someone not use to mnt roads. The house is very dark on the inside...because it's in the woods. The property mngr needs to verify the lights are all working as many in the kitchen were out. When we arrived we had to pick up garbage that had been spread by a bear (garbage had not been picked up from previous tenant, again a prop mngr issue)...and there were NO garbage lid tie downs to help prevent bear from getting in to the garbage. There are bear trash cans that would be beneficial for this property. It's a secluded, quiet location which is nice but again, it's in the woods so there is no view. Our teens enjoyed hiking down to the waterfall. The swing on the porch is a nice touch and where I enjoyed my coffee every morning. It's only about a 12 min drive to Beech Mnt Rst which was great for us. Hot tub was a nice amenity as well. FYI - ATT does not get good service up here, so you can't count on GPS on the mountain.

Christmas Eve check in
We checked in Christmas Eve. The house was extremely dirty. The floors didn’t look like they had been vacuumed or mopped in a long time. The towels smelled like cigarettes and the sheets had hair in them. It was a great house if it was cleaned properly. However, the management company was very kind and did refund us the cleaning fee but we would have loved a clean house instead.

Great weekend!
We had a wonderful weekend at the Cabin Fever! Upon arrival, the house was incredibly clean and directions to the home and getting in were very easy to follow. There were a few minute things (like hot tub needing some additional water) that we let the management team know about and they were incredibly friendly, helpful and responsive and corrected in a timely manner. The house is very cozy and certainly secluded. It's a short drive to Beech ski area but other than that you'd have a decent drive (at least 20 min) anywhere you'd like to go. The beds were very comfortable and towels were provided as well. Only thing I'd say that was missing from the home was the amount of cookware as well as lighting within the house. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Cabin Fever and we would certainly go back!
