Restaurant prices above others in the area

Staff are friendly and accomodating
First night was a mosquito infestation and barely got any sleep. I asked for a mosquito net and they put one in, but it wasn't made for the bed or room.
Be wary when signing food and drinks for the room instead of paying then, as the operate a scam. When paying at checkout, they add on up to 10% including for the room, claiming they have a different exchange rate than the restaurant, which makes no sense, especially when you're charged and sign in UGX and the room cost changes too. 10-20 dollars or so from 1000s of bookings is a nice little earner for them.

The breakfast was good and the bed was pretty comfy. The Khyber restaurant was pretty good and we enjoyed that food. It’s also close by to markets etc so if you need anything it’s easy to access
The rooms and the pictures didn’t match at all. The bathrooms were not function properly where the toilets were leaking and lots of cockroaches were present. The staff had a tired/exhausted look on their face and it felt odd to be in that vicinity. It would be nice to see some pleasantness. There was also a lot of noise. Constantly some concert or clubs nearby playing loudly. For the price I don’t think it’s worth it as the facilities were mediocre.

Large rooms with comfortable bed.
Very attentive and friendly staff. Week located.
I wish there had been more lounging areas - Possibly some outdoor seating other than restaurant tables by the busy road. I was disappointed that the rock bar and pizzeria were both closed.

Shower pressure was good!
There was one (only) waitress who was good at the job. Meal wasn't bad.
Run down. Room was maybe 2 stars at most. No amenities. Depressing place. Only outdoor restaurant. TV few local channels only. Mains points for charging were behind a desk. Staff didn't smile. No bar. Poor breakfast.

The location was great as you are not far from public transport and food places. The staff were very friendly and helpful
The parking area could have a space for paying guests as it was tricky for my driver to park up and yet I had luggage. The bar is Speke was not open it would be nice for there to have a pol table some sort of activity whilst staying at the hotel. I have been here a few times before and it was vibrant at the bar.

The room was comfortable and had some useful amenities, the restaurant was good, price reasonable, well-located.
A) Lack of gym
B) The room was about 400-500 m from the reception
C) Laundry expensive

Very Historical place
Natural beauty of the restaurant was good.
In Prime location, everyone know this place very well
The staff's attitude is not professional.
The room was not clean at wall
The restaurant was totally disappointed, I was seated for 30 min and no one came to even ask me, the indian food quality was really bad,
Most importantly, they have an apartment which I booked, which is not in the same location as the hotel, u need to walk through the restaurant and then through the car parking, which is always dirty with mud and a bad smell.
The Apartment was very old with dirty.

Julian, the front desk receptionist who checked me in was superb. The shower head, and its pressure, was brilliant. The colonial-era beautiful wooden floors and doors are superb as I used to remember them decades ago. The bed was comfortable. Robert, the bellboy was kind and excellent with his service.
It is such a shame that this hotel is quite historic but it is easily discernible that it has completely lost its lustre and charm as soon as one walks in. I used it for nostalgic purposes. It wasn’t worth it.
The hygiene is awful. My room was so dusty. I ended up sneezing so much. The white towels are so old and worn out that they are have a tinge of yellow.
Talking of hygiene, before i slept, I asked for tea bags from a chap at the reception desk - I believe called Emma. He was doing something on a computer screen/key board and went out at the back. Without washing his hands and with an astonishing lack of self-awareness, I saw him come with two unpacked tea bags in his fingers and gave them to me. I was so shocked and disgusted but I accepted them and simply threw them in my room’s bin.
The Aircon in my room (216) must have broken a couple of years ago that they haven’t bothered to fix it.
What is such a shame is that most of what is wrong that with this hotel can easily be sorted if management put their minds to it.
I wouldn’t pay £79 again for such a room given that there are better boutique hotels that have a far better service and have sadly outcompeted such a once- upon-a-time - respected hotel.
