the dorm was nice, I had a single bed and the linen was fresh and clean. it’s close to red frog beach
It’s very wet and humid outside the rooms and the pool seemed a little dirty
4.0 / 5.0
The yoga, meditation, art and wine and coconut workshop and general Helpfulness of staff made up for the slightly run down dorm room. Nice retreat vibes, met lovely people. Lovely WhatsApp with daily message of the schedule of activities. Good space in the room and functional shared bathroom and kitchen. Enjoyed the walk to and from the beach. Enjoyed the zapatillo tour. Good luggage storage. The activities and jungle settling made the hostel stand out. Stunning beach!
Welcome drink is too early when most people spend the day at the beach a walk away. The Aircon had signs of black mould and smelled of it too. Dorm room door didn’t lock so anyone could gain access but there were lockers. Breakfast was hit and miss, cheaper if prepurchased. Food expensive for Panama.
No hammocks or soft seating which the lovely jungle environment would work for. Signage could be better to and around the hostel and to polo beach. There should be more frequent shuttle water taxis from Selina in bocas.

In the middle of a remote island
Bungalows stand pretty close together

Bettflöhe in meinem Bungalow anzusprechen.

The staff are mostly very friendly, and the space is beautiful. The food, not as good as the nearby Palma, but a few dishes stand out. The 'teepee' was an absolute treat to stay in, with monkeys coming to visit in the mornings.
The only little note I would leave with Selina RF would be to improve check-in punctuality. 15:00 is already a late check-in hour, and we had to wait another hour + both times we stayed there, getting to our rooms after 16:00. Then being reminded about 11:00 checkout quite punctually...

nice employees, good entertainment
We choose the cabins, called the Tipi or so. Unfortunately a dumb room design. You have only one large window (besides a toilet window), which was (in most cases) aimed at the path, instead of the Forrest. so meaning: either you are with closed curtains in the dark, or everyone can see you. Which is quite a shame as the cabin just could have been turned around so that the window faces the jungle.

we liked that the hotel/ hostel is in the middle of the jungle. it’s not far to the beach. personal cares about the local dogs which is really worth to emphasize.
we had to wait soooo long for our breakfast or orders in general. once we waited one hour for a simple coffee…
even the breakfast we didn’t like at all. No fruits, no granula, no yoghurt is on the menu.

It was really comfortable with beautiful views. even tho it was isolated it was also places between very strategic places. the walks around we’re really pretty
sometimes we had no water or no hot water, some of the pillows smelled bad but they changed them asap.

The location is superb, which is located very near to the beautiful Red Frog Beach. We stayed in a lovely Tipi which had a jungle view, this gave us our own privacy and also a lovely view to wake up to each morning. In general, the vibe was quite nice and relaxed. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Quality and price for the food to get at the hotel is reasonable. Cocktails are quite good, local guys that work behind the bar are also very accommodating and funny.
Some of the staff conducted themselves in a very unprofessional manner.
I would roughly divide the staff into two categories: locals, who work very hard and take their work seriously; and holiday-makers, who sadly are the people that we interact with the most and they seem to be from outside of the local area, and most likely are “working” here in exchange for accommodation. It is unfortunate that the latter group are those that we interact with the most; they try to organize the common area, including the “restaurant” and “bar”. I would not go as far as to call an establishment which takes 45 minutes to deliver 2 coffees a true bar/restaurant, nor one where the “waiters” leave their post to flirt with girls who are dancing, a true bar or restaurant. It also feels that the staff is working on incomplete information: one person on reception telling us that laundry was not possible, and the following day someone different saying it was.
On their website, they claim that Selina Red Frog Beach is the more chilled one of the two Selinas in Bocas del Toro, and that if you would prefer a more party atmosphere, then you should go to the one on Isla Colón. We did not find this to be the case, as they had a Full Moon Party with obnoxiously loud music. Might be nice if you’re a backpacker or in for parties, but then don’t advertise as the “more chilled” Selina.
In general, I would say that the place is very much orientated towards backpackers - indeed, there are daily WhatsApp messages with “Hello Nomads” - and I think that some of the issues we found would be less severe for backpackers. However, if you are looking for a relaxed trip with your partner, then I would be wary of staying here.
In general, the location is extremely nice and so are the teepees. Despite this, the non-local staff were very unprofessional, and the price, therefore, does not feel justified for the all-round experience you get.

I liked the hostel, it was very chill, lots of green, right in the jungle and near the beach. The location is great if you're lookingt for beach and jungle. I wasn't sure where to stay cause there were so many options in many islands but I'm glad I stayed there. Bastimentos island and especially that area is really nice. Bocas del toro is way too busy for me and there's no nature, just streets. There's a water taxi that make it easy to go places. In reality I was looking forward to chillin only, hostel beach (I didn't go to red frog beach per se), hostel drinks that's it. The room (privtae room) was AMAZING. Was sort of a treehouse, had AC, the bathroom was amazing, the shower had a wall/big window looking at the jungle. Beautiful place, good food at Selina, had a great time. The hostel does salsa nights and activities as well
All good

The Redfrog island is very beautiful and relaxing. The lobby of Selina Red Frog looks nice. The volunteer was very nice and had a lot of knowledge about the island and it’s nature.
The room did not match the pictures on booking.com. It was much smaller and looked run down and old. The Selina present’s itself as a surfer hostel, but they didn’t have any leashes, so that we couldn’t rent a board for surfing. Than we ask for stand up paddling, but there was nobody who could take the boards down to the seaside. At the end nobody from the reception helped us and we had to organize our surftrip ourselves.
During our stay a lot of construction was going on.

We had the Bungalow (got a free upgrade which was great) which was very comfy. Nice staff, organizing different activities every day. Good breakfast and lunch/dinner options. In the middle of the jungle with a lot of opportunities seeing wildlife. Close to Red Frog beach.

They have a range activities for you to get involved in or a stack of free games if you get caught in the rain. The dogs are super cute
Food is a bit pricey

The general vibe of the place was the best, the music, the staff, very relax ambience
4.0 / 5.0
The staff at the reception was great they gave us an upgrade to a tipi tent that was fantastic and they were always willing to help.
At arrival we discovered that there is a water cut off for 3hours during the day and then at night. The restaurant is not good, food is very average expensive most of the time they had shortage of some of the ingredients but we still had to pay full price and the service was very slow. The only exception was the welcome drink which was delicious.

good atmosphere & location
great communal area
lots going on each day
if you’re booking this place for the pool I wouldn’t bother, it was murky and full of flies and sometimes lizards. I don’t think the water gets changed due to water restrictions on the island. we didn’t see a single guest in it.
