The staff was extremely friendly, polite, and professional. The breakfast was a gourmet 3 course feast! The grounds were very peaceful, plenty of room for 'coffee and contemplation'. The flowers/gardening were very well kept. And there are books about almost anything scattered around the different rooms. Overall, the owners and staff were extremely accommodating.
The room where we stayed, the bed was positioned under two skylights which lead to early mornings. I recommend bringing a sleeping mask if you do stay in that room.

Very Beautiful Inn!! Great hospitality!
It was very private and great view of the water from the deck and bedroom.

Beautiful location and property. We were welcomed by the owners, Vic and Gerald. We stayed at the suite with the jacuzzi and terrace. Each decoration and art work have a story and Gerald will gladly tell you. Every morning you are served a delicious homemade breakfast and the Inn has its own cellar that you can purchase a variety of wine. We will definitely go back in the summer.

We loved staying here because it is a beautiful Inn. Everything about it is lovely and special. The setting is gorgeous, the view wonderful and the owners are both interesting people and very thoughtful. The attention to quality and fine detail pervades throughout the Inn. The breakfast is delicious and the patio porch room overlooking the Chesapeake is delightful. We will return!!!!!

We enjoyed the delicious food that Miguel prepared for us. The breakfast was great and the options I didn't realize until we were on our last day there, that we could have asked for additional items or more of one thing, the breads.
An elevator I hope is in by this time. I know they said they had it on order but they have been waiting for quite a while for it to be delivered and installed. I have a bit of a time walking and since we were up on a higher floor I did have to climb. We enjoyed the quiet and watching the water and seeing the nice gardens are great touches. The food was great and we enjoyed the special day (except for the wind).

We spent a memorable weekend in The Swanendele Inn, and learnt a lot about the region’s historic links to the erstwhile Dutch colony of “Zwaanendael,” extending from Maryland, through Delaware, New Jersey & New York. In fact, nearby Historic St. Mary's City is a former colonial town that was one of the region’s first European (Dutch, then British) settlements, and Maryland’s first capital, and is among the oldest European settlements in the US. It provided ample substance for our weekend getaway. Our visit to picturesque nearby Point Lookout State Park (a Civil War POW-camp, right where the Chesapeake Bay & Potomac River merge) was relaxing and interesting as well.
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely well-designed waterfront property. Swanendele’s owners – Gerry and Vicky – are seasoned world-traveling professionals who offer hours of enjoyable conversation on diverse topics, about their inn, and about the general area. The inn’s meticulously decorated interior showcases their personal collections from around the world; every piece has a story. Highly recommended.

The proprietors are first among their peers for giving an amazing experience. Food is excellent.
It's a long drive from DC, but worth it.

My wife and I enjoyed a few days away from it all at this BnB. It was a wonderful experience. The facilities and near 360 degree waterfront views are beautiful. The staff is great, lots of hospitality. The food, breakfast and dinner, was very well prepared. The area is quiet and there are a few local things to do within a short drive.
We enjoyed everything.

The breakfast was amazing. You enjoyed afresh bake pumpkin bread followed by fruits followed by your choice of eggs and bacon coffee and orange juice. Whether you had breakfast inside the breakfast area or on the wraparound porch you had a beautiful view of the water.

I liked the location, the exterior architectural style and the internal design which had a touch of history and the cosmopolitan outlook of the Inn’s owners. I also found the owners extremely friendly and have a very engaging approach. I loved the service they and their staff provided to guests. There’s lots to love and appreciate about this place. Bonus- barely an hour ans 30 minutes DC and yet it offers a beautiful sense of being detached and far-away from urban life if that’s what one is seeking- which I am- without sacrificing the comforts associated with city life. The rooms for example are beautifully furnished.
There was nothing I did not like! Truly.

Everything is magnificent! The owners are superb as are the Inn, the rooms, the location and the food. I loved the views, the ambience and the privacy. I am coming back! A fine experience. Met other great folks and thoroughly enjoyed it! There's much more to explore there!

We had a great stay at Swanendele Inn. The owner helped us make a dinner reservation when the restaurant we were looking at was fully booked, although we hear the Swanendele Inn private dinner is also delicious. Everyone was very friendly, we would highly recommend.

The owners were friendly and accommodating. They took us on a nice tour of the facilities and were knowledgeable about the rich history of their property's beautiful decor. We loved the view from our room. We look forward to staying again.
