About this house rental
Built in 2005, a 3 bedroom custom-designed retreat in Craftsman/Adirondack influenced style.
House overlooks 10 acre field and commands sweeping 180 degree views of surrounding hills and the higher peaks of the White Mts. Property spans 65 acres and abuts conservation land. Rural setting just 10 minutes from downtown Plymouth. Two decks allow for maximum enjoyment of the view and pastoral setting. Great for outdoor meals, sunsets, foliage season, or watching hawks and swallows wheeling in the wide open sky. House is a wood-work-lovers delight and is designed to allow views from every room. Living room has lofted ceiling with massive Douglas Fir truss-work, cherry floors, and sleeping loft to allow larger parties. Relax in the glow of the woodstove while watching the sunset.
Kitchen/House Details: Fully stocked kitchen allows serious cooks to be creative: complete with solid surface counters, butcher-block, and high quality cookware. Handwoven Asian wool carpets adorn the hardwood floors throughout. Master bedroom has high, trussed ceiling, view deck, and large bathroom with a walk-in glass block shower. Many custom built-ins and a mix of new and antique furnishings enhance the cutting edge design of this unique house.
Other info: The house has 3 units. Helpful and welcoming caretakers live below in separate apt. Tower shown in photos goes with another apt. --not included in rental. No smoking *Anywhere* on property, please. House is two hours from Boston and about 15 minutes from route 93.
Major cell networks such as ATT, T-Mobile and Verizon seem to work very well at the house.
Get to know the classic New England town of Plymouth, NH. A regional center with a State University.
Numerous restaurants, The Flying Monkey live performance and dinner theater, a farm stand with the best corn anywhere (in season) and tourist attractions such as the Polar Caves are all in town. Paddlers will enjoy the Pemigewasset or Baker Rivers which join in Plymouth. If sightseeing is your thing, Plymouth's central location makes it ideal for a scenic drive to all that New Hampshire has to offer.
No Student Parties. No groups of persons under age 21. Renters must include a person 25 or older. Organized groups or weddings may inquire.
Motorized recreation such as snowmobiles ORVs or dirt bikes are not allowed on the property.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this house in Plymouth. The house itself is very well-maintained: it was very clean and all the amenities are up-to-date and in good working order. The manager has done a great job with the screens behind the windows: they are tightly closed, so you can let in fresh air without letting in bugs. (Still, this is a forest location, so be prepared; we saw a terribly HUGE spider in the house one night. Close doors behind you quickly when entering and exiting.) The bathrooms are all clean and in great working order.
The location, in a forest with beautiful mountain views, is outstanding, and there is lots of ground to explore around the house. You will hear no sounds but the crickets. You are not near any even semi-main roads. Just nature. Yet, you are less than 10 minutes away both from I-93 and the center of Plymouth (and its university). This is an ideal location for a New Hampshire vacation: centrally located, equidistant from the heart of the White Mountains and the center of the Lakes Region. Both are about 30 minutes away.
We are so happy we rented this house. We will definitely be coming back!

This was our 2nd stay at Matt's Hilltop Retreat, and again we were struck by the serene, calming atmosphere of the space. To us, it has the perfect blend of rustic warmth and modern openness. All, of course, enhanced by the breathtaking views out the windows. We come to NH mainly for hiking, but we found ourselves making sure that we got back in time each day to sit out on one of the decks and take in the view before heading out to dinner.
In all other respects we have no complaints. Just as the 1st time we stayed, it was spotlessly clean, well appointed, and Matt and Jordan, the caretaker, both reached out and were friendly and helpful.
In all, Hilltop was again, the perfect getaway!!
Thanks Matt! Sue and Nat E.

The furnishings and amenities at the house were superior, practical and comfortable. The house was cosy and the setting was peaceful and beautiful. It was the perfect place for my family and another to get together. I will sum up our stay as follows - it felt like the owners shared their home with us, not just a house or property that they are renting out.

Beautiful home, that is far enough away while still being close to everything. Very spacious and clean with beautiful views. Definitely recommend staying here

This place is beautiful. The views are unbeatable and the house itself is amazing. Everything you need is included (linens, TP, paper towels, dishes, cookware, staples in the pantry, etc.). Matt (owner) and the property caretaker were responsive and friendly.
The only semi negative thing I can say is the WiFi is not great, so if you have children with tablets, maybe download a few shows/games before arriving. Cell reception was good so we were still able to look things up on & use our phones.
Overall, we highly recommend this place.

We had a very nice stay. The property and views are stunning. In my opinion t would be better for a couple, not a multi-generational family of 7 like us. The main level is wonderful. The downstairs bedrooms could use upgrades - mattresses are not great. Upgrade to sheets and towels for renters (not owners) would be nice. Sleeping on owner sheets and using owner towels was fine but toddler sheets downstairs for a grandfather was a bit off. There are no closets in the bedrooms downstairs for hanging clothes. The single shower upstairs was fine, but again for a multigenerational family all using the same shower it was a bit awkward. Caretaker was polite and attentive. *Note - TV in his unit can be heard in adjacent bedroom and he stayed up later than we did. We did not ask him to turn down the volume but I'm sure he would have if we had. Ticks were everywhere on the property so it was helpful to have the notes ahead of time. An iron/ironing board and/or steamer would be a nice touch. We were attending graduation and our clothes needed a touch up.

I got lots of credit from my family for finding this property! Caretakers were VERY fast to respond to any questions. Kitchen is WELL stocked for anyone who wants to cook (like us)! Kids loved hiding in the loft space to play on their laptops. Fit the 7 of us very well! Would absolutely stay here again.

This property is amazing. The view is spectacular and the space clean and comfortable. The host was very responsive and helpful. If you want to see wildlife, this is a great spot. Close to everything but still that middle-of-nowhere vibe.

Lovely property secluded but still close to town. Quiet with pastural views that included deer early morning. We appointed and comfortable. We'd stay there again.

Amazing views over 5-6 acres of fields. We saw a fox, a coyote, and a black bear cub on a few days. The bed in the master was comfortable and upstairs away from the kid’s room which was downstairs. The main (only full) bath has a shower (no tub on premises) with rain head and also a urinal, which was a big hit on poker night. The care takers who live there are friendly and helpful with any questions. All-in-all a very nice place to get away to.

We hope to come back soon!!

The rental space in this property is beautiful, comfortable, clean, and peaceful. As a family of six, we had plenty of space for family activities and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals. The house is removed from the road so you don’t hear any traffic. We saw lots of birds, butterflies, and bears across the field and had beautiful views of the stars at night. The views are stunning. Local activities were available within 15-30 minutes including hiking and swimming. The only drawback was laundry was not available while we were there.

We were two families with three kids between us, in town for a wedding. This house was perfectly appointed and modern, in a rustic dreamlike setting, with unparalleled views and the feeling of perfect seclusion in nature while in reality, a number of conveniences were just minutes away. We would love to return. What a find. Contact with the owner was easy and reassuring. Can't say enough to recommend this beautiful home.
