The hacienda has a beautiful old world feel—we truly wish we could have stayed for days! Our host was kind & helpful and the breakfast was perfect. Delicious! And the scenery and swimming pool were stunning. So lovely!
Perhaps a larger bed for a longer stay.

Beautifully located out on the fields, with spectacular view on surrounding mountains. Small scale, quiet, with plenty of space outside to sit and relax and a little pool to refresh oneself. Friendly owner and personell, nicely decorated rooms, antique furniture, comfortable beds, beautiful living room and dining room and tasty breakfast and dinner. Near beautiful places ('Pueblos Mágicos') and beautiful nature that you can explore by guided 'senderismo': walking in the mountains.
Not a disappointment for us, but maybe good for some to know in advance, is that Hacienda Sta Clara doesn't offer à la carte menu options for lunch, dinner or breakfast and only offers basic drinks (water, tea, coffee, milk and fresh juice). On a daily basis we agreed on whether or not we would be having lunch or dinner that day at the hacienda and, for the next morning, breakfast. We had dinner once and breakfast twice, on all occasions we had agreed up front on the kind of meal that would then apply for all of us. Basic Mexican dishes like enchiladas and chilaquiles, prepared from fresh ingredients, very tasty and with a great salsa.

Location near a wedding we attended. Beautiful surroundings and mountain scenery.
Property owner was kind and helping. He made an effort for us to have a pleasant stay.
I would like to pay for extras at the end of our stay, and not being addressed to pay upfront as we arrived. Maybe leave a credit card open voucher at our arrival, as normal hotels do. We didn't feel comfortable about been asked to pay in advance for breakfast. I would suggest food prices should be on a menu or printed somewhere as we felt we were overcharged $800 pesos for 18 very plain and simple quesadillas. This changed our experience somewhat for the bad, as everything else was nice and pleasant.

Breakfast was delicious. The room for taking the breakfast is very nice, tables and furniture make a great atmosphere. For the first meal, we were asked if cecina was ok (and it was delicious!), but for the second meal, we were served what they choose. Although tasty, it was heavy and had our stomachs upset. We would have preferred to be asked our meal preferences.
Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Roofs are high, there are big fans attached to the ceiling, and that helps a lot.
Despite we went looking for a quiet place to stay, other families were staying there. They slept late, and were noisy: dogs were barking, babies crying, music, loud TVs. Weather was hot, so that windows had to left open most of the time. Paying directly with the owner makes it an uncomfortable transaction, as he bills as he thinks is best, and was refusing to apply booking.com's discount (finally, he grudgingly accepted).

Amazing place. Very calm and quiet. Wonderful views. Dinner and breakfast were impeccable. The staff was so accommodating and kind. Would have loved to stay a lot longer.
The house is like a museum.

style, location and owner kindness.
I would prefer a no pets policy
