Unless you can sleep through an earthquake do not choose this hotel. it is an old refurbished hotel and looks nice but the soundproofing is Terrible. It was the only thing I had asked for at the reception to be given a silent room. Nevertheless I was given a room at the ground floor, in which I was woken up at 3 am by the upstairs neighbor stamping his feet at 3 am and you can literally hear people walking in the room, the cracks of the old wood, the water in the tubings. After patiently waiting for it to stop for 30 minutes I called reception, and they mentioned a group was leaving at this time and that in 30-45 minutes the noises should stop. Afterwards the noises became worse, you can hear people running down the stairs, pulling their suitcases and everything in the hallway. it also shows terrible judgment in room distribution to allocate a person who has asked for silence on a ground floor close to the stairs, knowing beforehand of a group that would be leaving at 3 am. My recommendation to you is, unless you are deaf, don’t choose this hotel!!! I would share the sound files if it was possible.

Totally pleasant staff.
They are clearly trying to be helpful. Nice folks!
Location is excellent- super central in Estoril - building is attractive to look at-belle epoque- clearly lots of history.
Bed is comfortable and bedding was clean.
General cleanliness of the room was good.
The bathroom smelled of sewage and the odor seeped throughout the room.
Several parts of the hotel are worn and poorly maintained- painting over layers and layers.
Bedroom door is paper thin- light and flimsy- glad I went to the pharmacy and bought earplugs (none available at reception).
The decoration is an attempt to look "artistic" or contemporary but often feels more like randomn stuff piled around the common areas like this mannequins which unsettles more than inspires.
The gym has...a shag rug in it....perhaps its an artistic display now that I think about it....left me confused.
Breakfast was weak for a four star hotel.
Someone could have asked how my stay went at checkout- but they didn´t.
Bottom line: I managed to sleep with the window wide open and the toilet door shut, sprayed a little cologne fortunately it was not too hot or cold outside so I still had a tolerable night´s rest.

The staff was polite, however not able to help us
We wanted to stay 3 nights in one of the suites of the hotel. At a rate of + € 250 a night and in a 4 star hotel, we expected some comfort and modern / charming rooms. Unfortunately we decided to check-out after the first night, as the advertised standards have not been met. In summary: The rooms are old and smell of humidity, this smell is tried to be overpowered by artificial airspray, which makes the smell only more unpleasant. The mattresses are very old and are super soft, giving someone back pain (probably by the use over the years). The bathroom is tiny and old, this may be expectable in a two star hotel but not in a four star.
Overall the 4 star rating of this hotel is misleading and the price cannot be justified. We are experience travelers within Portugal and have had so many remarkable experiences in hotels - unfortunately this is one of the few which has been unpleasant.
As we left early (after one night instead of three) we asked for a partial refund, which was rejected by the staff. According to the conditions, it is the right of the hotel not to make refunds, however we expected some decency to compensate us partially.
We do would like to add, that the staff was very polite, even though they were not a big help in this case.

The hotel is quirky, the rooms are comfortable and there is a good selection at breakfast. Most of the staff are friendly.
The manager Daniel is very unhelpful, the card reader wasn't working when we checked in, I know this as I phoned my bank thinking there was a problem with my card and my husband's cards but there was no issue from our side but Daniel refused to get another card reader even though the bank were willing to speak to him and explain that the reader was failing to read the card chip, instead he insisted that we pay cash. Very annoying as we had to give him almost 700 euros which was our spending money and then withdraw cash, at a lower exchange rate and bank charges. The pool is quite hard to get into unless you jump, it's all one depth and there's a ladder with 2 steps but then a large drop from there, ok for us but not for kids or elderly. When we checked out for our early flight we asked reception if they would call us a taxi, when it arrived I was a bit suspicious that it looked like a private car but he insisted it was a taxi. When we got to the airport we were then charged 50 euros instead of the 30 euros quoted to us by an actual taxi driver. We were that tired and fed up that we just paid it but I would suggest arrange your own airport transport if you don't want to be ripped off.

Staff professional. Beautiful hotel, details, grandeur. Great location but quiet.

We stayed in this hotel in around 2005 and since then major work has been done on the hotel with a new wing added over what was the swimming pool. The room was very comfortable with a nice balcony. The staff especially Francisco were very, very helpful. We managed to find a Hotel parking space each day so that was a real bonus as well. The location is fantastic giving easy access the the coastal path which gets you in to the middle of Cascais in about 30 mins by foot.
The only issue we had was that our room was in the new wing at the very end which meant it was close to the road and a bus stop, the busses start running very early in the morning so traffic noise was an issue.

Good location. Ok breakfast, nice coffee.
The hotel was tremendously run down and the photos online do not represent reality. We were very disappointed with the hotel overall, expecting it to be far better than it was. It was far too expensive for the quality. For Xmas eve the hotel bar was closed and the toilet flush ran all night long. Maintenance is urgently neede to bring it up to standard.

Pool was closed for winter.
