About this cabin rental
This perfect little cabin is just ten minutes from Hayward, Wisconsin, a very special place “up north”. Sitting right on the shore of Sunset Bay, this small but mighty cabin offers you all the amenities you could need on a vacation full of nature and lake sport fun! We have taken lots of pride to carefully and tastefully renovate virtually the entire cabin. You will find it charming, clean, and ready for you to relax & enjoy!
Nelson Lake is a full recreation lake that offers swimming, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, and some of the best fishing in the region! We have Kayaks available for use and you can rent a pontoon from the neighboring Revelle’s Resort just two minutes away. Play on the lake or go into town to catch a lumberjack show. It’s a quick scenic drive up to Copper Falls State Park where you will experience breathtaking views of the areas largest waterfalls and natural stone canyons. In the mornings, enjoy a cup of coffee on the screened in porch and listen to the loons. Then take a hike or mountain bike ride on one of the endless area trails looking for all types of wild life, berries, and exploring nature in its best form. You will see deer, Fox, birds, maybe a herd of elk, giant snapping turtles and even black bears!
In the winter, enjoy a variety of cold weather sports including ice skating, snowmobiling, ice fishing and cross country ski on the lake or take a 5 minute drive to one of the Birkie trail heads. Hayward is the home of the American Birkebeiner, the largest cross country ski race in North America! No matter what it is you desire, if it has to do with the outdoors, Hayward has it.
Our cabin is fully stocked and adorably decorated. All you need to bring is your own coffee and charcoal if you would like to use the grill. It has a queen sized bedroom, a second bedroom with a twin over full bunk bed and a pull out sleeper with an additional twin bed. We recommend 4 guests for maximum comfort but the cabin will accommodate up to 6 if necessary. We have now added WIFI! We also have a ton of movies available for you to watch so relax, and unplug! The living room TV is a Roku TV and also has Netflix and Hulu available. Most apps and websites will allow you to cast to the TV. In May of 2020 we put an addition onto the bathroom and gutted it for a brand new beautiful and spacious bathroom. We also added laundry, we just ask that you bring your own detergent if you'd like to use the washer/dryer.
We hope you enjoy our cabin!

Nice little cabin in a picture perfect setting

Cabin is cozy and clean with most things needed. Larissa was a great host who answered all my questions. I grew up on the old resort the cabin used to be a part of. So many wonderful memories. Bathroom and having a washer and dryer was really nice. You'll enjoy yourself if you stay here. I'll book again

There were a couple of glitches as expected, the biggest one was that our cabin was still being cleaned when we arrived so we couldn't get in for an hour. The others were not a big deal. The queen bed stuck against 3 sides was terrible but comfortable, my wife had to crawl over me in the middle of the night! UGH! Overall nice clean cabin, owner was quick to reply when needed. Thanks for sharing your cabin!

Laurissa was excellent to work with. Very responsive with any needs. The cleaning lady didn’t show up and she made it right with us. The beach area isn’t very swim friendly, but the kayaks were wonderful and there was a beautiful swimming area at Eytcheson Park. We rented a pontoon from Revelles and tubed the River from Camp Namekogen. It was a wonderful vacation. Thanks for sharing your cute place with us.

I’ve really been waiting to post a review and thinking whether or not I even should…. I want to start off by saying we had fun, the location was good, and we probably would stay again. Now for the actual review…
When we first arrived we were given a code for the house and well the battery in the lock died so that didn’t work so we had to call the owner and I was glad they had a physical key. Upon opening the door we noticed a very foul smell…not quite sure what that was we opened the windows because it was decent outside. Later that night we messaged the owner because we thought it was a gas leak (which it ended up being) she messaged back asking if the stove turned on which it did but I sent her a follow up text telling her it was a very potent smell coming from the area around the stove then she NEVER responded. The next day I was still trying to figure the smell out. Not having a gas range at home I got to thinking about it and came to the conclusion that it was the pilot light that was out which now I had to locate on an old range. A literal gas leak and the owner didn’t make any attempt to reach back out to me even suggesting that could be the issue.
However after we got that figured out it was a good stay. Cabin is small and the queen bed is pushed right to the wall making it impossible to get up in the middle of the night without having to crawl over your spouse. The kayaks that were available were full of bugs sand and water…

Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. Our return to Hayward was greatly complimented by this cozy little cabin. Communication before our trip was great, and we didn’t have any special needs while there. The kitchen is well stocked, and the bathroom is updated and very clean. My son enjoyed the mugs that were waiting for us in the freezer. We enjoyed the fire pit each evening, and we caught enough fish for our dinner the night before our departure. The bedrooms are small, but they accommodated us well. Beds were comfy. Ceiling fans and window units a bonus. The enclosed porch with lights were pretty at night, and everything was decorated with thought. (We were short extra toilet paper, but this was most likely an oversight.) We would definitely enjoy staying with you again! Thank you for sharing your home.

We had an enjoyable stay. We fell in love with the lake and the fishing was pretty good. A few rainy days allowed us to explore the area and relax in the cabin. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a quiet relaxing place.

My brother-in-law and I go fishing in Hayward every year. We have never stayed anywhere twice but we plan to stay here again. The cabin was clean and well stocked. We fished an other lake but the dock on Lake Nelson was very nice. The cabin is a little small but you could easily have two adults and two small kids there. The cabin is just like the pictures. We would definitely recommend this cabin.

The cabin itself is nice. It appears to be updated. It’s small, but it works. Not a lot of space to move around in. Any more than 4 people would have not worked. The contact person, not sure if it was the owner or property manager, was NOT good at communicating. We arrived after dark and had a hard time finding the place. I had no check in information. I finally got a call back and we were able to get in. It’s a remote place so there was very little cell reception out there. My kids are home schooled and I need Wi-Fi for my work so having working Wi-Fi is essential. It stopped working on our second day there. Again, getting a response from the host was impossible. The next day she tells me I can go to the cabin next door to reset the router. Ok, but why couldn’t you have told me that the night before? I am a business and property owner myself and I have taken on issues while in remote areas and while I was busy myself. That’s life. It was very frustrating and unprofessional. Hayward is a beautiful area and where the cabin is it’s quite pretty. However, based on the poor communication of the host I would not recommend the place.

Awesome! Highly recommended for a couple or small family. This is by far the best rental we have ever stayed in. Felt like home.

This was a great location for a couples getaway weekend. Beautiful lake -- we kayaked twice using the cabin kayaks. Spotless and well-appointed. Queen bed was comfy. Flat iron and hairspray were a nice touch in the bath room. Close to Hayward and bike trails. The neighbors were friendly. Would happily return.

My husband and I stayed here in August 2022. Such a cute cabin on Nelson Lake. Loved the northwoods decor and everything was well appointed inside
It is on the small side but the space inside is very well utilized. Makes it feel like it's not really that small. We don't fish but the view of the lake from the property outside and the picture window inside is a real bonus! Having a restaurant/bar on the property is nice too...even though we didn't get too visit it. Had to leave early for personal reasons, but we would definitely recommend the cabin to friends and family and in face we already have. We loved visiting supper clubs and downtown Hayward while there. The beds were comfy. The bathroom was nice, We prefer walk in showers so it was nice that this place had one. BONUS...there's a skylight in the shower!!
The only down side for us was the cabins next door were too close to our liking, but as luck would have it no one was in either cabin. We were pretty much the only ones there.
It's nice that it's close to Hayward but not too close.
Lastly, the cost per night to stay here is so FAIR! We'd like to thank the Codr's for sharing their cabin with us!!

Amazing cabin on the water
Beautiful cabin! This property was worth the 7 hour drive! Our family of four had an amazing week. The queen bed was unbelievably comfortable! The kids shared the second bedroom and enjoyed the bunk beds. The view of the water was so pretty and calming. We used the kayaks often. The fire pit and picnic table were a major bonus! All amenities were provided and the cabin was so clean. The location was also perfect with a short drive into town. We will definitely return to spend another perfect week at this cabin !

We arrived right before a snowstorm and since Larissa lives out of town, she personally contacted me to make sure the heat was working and had someone come out to check on it. She also has taken special care in all the furnishings making it feel like a deluxe northwoods cottage. We would rent this cottage again in the winter to cross country ski.
