About this house rental
This lovely updated and upscale lakeside home offers three levels and is tastefully decorated with high end furnishings. Exceptional location on highly desirable deep water Davis Cove with stunning views of Lake Hopatcong main channel. The Lake House offers spacious bedrooms, beautiful landscaping, brand new 50 Ft dock and large lakeside deck/seating, wood burning fireplace, game room, fully equipped kitchen, new hot tub right on the lake, swimming, fishing/ice fishing, and close to restaurants and bars. The property is lovely all four seasons a year. Great for a family vacation, gathering of responsible friends, special occasion, business travel or a romantic get-away.
The meticulous landscaping offers many varieties of ornamental shrubs and flowers. We think you will agree that this is one of the best locations on the lake in the deep water Davis Cove amidst the multimillion dollar historic estate homes.
There are three spacious bedrooms upstairs including our large master bedroom with a comfy king size bed, sliders that open to a balcony, and stunning views of the lake even as you lay in bed. Bedroom #2 features charming antique furniture and a full-size bed. Bedroom #3 has two very comfortable single beds. There is one full bath upstairs and also a new washer and dryer (detergent and bleach provided). Additional comforters and blankets are provided. Bath towels will be put out on all the beds when you check in.
A covered front porch leads to the main level. The open floor-plan on the main level offers a fully appointed kitchen with with microwave, dishwasher, toaster, two coffee machines (a drip and a Keurig), gas range/oven, wine cooler and higher quality cookware/cutlery/ accessories (I.e., Wustoff Professional knives, Caphalon cookware, etc.). The main living area has a large wood burning fireplace (wood is included), 55" HDTV Smart TV with Blu-Ray DVD (I have provided a Blue Ray DVD library), a Netflix account for use by guests and internet access, all the premium movie channels and premium on demand movies and a Bluetooth sound system that will play music off your smart phone. Free high speed WiFi is available all around the house, deck and dock. The main level also features a full bath and a 4th bedroom if you need it with a trundle bed that sleeps 1 to 2. The dining table comfortably seats 6-8 with 3 more seats at the kitchen counter. There is a spacious deck off sliders that overlooks the lake with a table/chairs/lounge and a high quality Weber Genesis gas BBQ grill purchased in 2016 (available for our guests).
A walk out game room (Shelti professional tournament quality Foosball table, board games, card table) is on the lower level which is also equipped with a small kitchen and a half bathroom.
A few more steps down and you are on a large 50x20 Ft. deck right on the water which features a sofa, chairs, umbrellas and a guest favorite - a newer 4 person Signature Spa hot tub . The 50ft dock is perfect for fishing or you can tie-up your own boat or jet ski (or rent one from the many marinas on the lake OR you can rent my boat through Boatbound or Boatsetter). A staircase leads down into the water for swimming in the largely sand bottomed lake. We can provide flotation devises, swim rafts, water-skis and a 3-4 man towable tube with all the riggings. Bring water shoes, particularly for the kids. Bring your own Kayak or you can use our Kayaks - one is a 14 ft. Necky Maribou for more experienced paddlers and one is a high end fiberglass Hurricane Skimmer 116 sit-on-top which is perfect for novices and kids. And don't forget your fishing poles - Lake Hopatcong is one of prime freshwater fisheries on the East Coast.
Guest have access to the whole house except for three locked storage areas, one on each level. There is parking for 3-4 cars maximuim. In warm months, our boat may be docked there and its off limits.. although there is ample room for a boat or PWC if you bring your own or rent one. If you want to rent my Sea Ray 180 Sport stern drive motorboat, I can tell you how to go on Boatbound / Boatsetter where you can rent it... its cheaper and far more convenient than the local marinas... but like the marinas, you must have an experienced boat pilot in your party. I can provide a 3-4 man tube for lake tubing and I also have waterskis.
Bob, your host, lives in the area and are available to assist you to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Also ask about my other rental on the lake if you wish to coordinate the stay of larger parties across the two houses. Both of my lake rentals are rated #1 and #2 in the whole NNJ market based on guest reviews! I take a lot of pride in hosting and strive to do both the big things and little things that will make your stay memorable. Bob will stop by a couple times a week to test the hot tub, water the many potted plants (warm months) and check to see if there is anything you need. I prefer to personally hand-over the keys at check-in and explain the amenities of the house and home safety. All guests must be announced. And please ask about local restaurants, bars, attractions and shopping.... I will leave you menu's for local restaurants and can provide recommendations any time during your stay.
The Area: Deep-water Davis Cove is one of the nicest spots on Lake Hopatcong with 180 degrees lake views. The Lake itself has a long and rich history, discovered by the Lenape Indians 14,000 years ago, this was the chic destination for New York actors and socialites at the turn of the century and the roaring 20s. Today, the Lake is knows as the largest in New Jersey with 43 miles of shoreline and is very popular for fishing, water sports and restaurant-hopping via boat. Our home is on a quiet side street with little traffic and the neighborhood is perfect for walking, running with side roads and hills. There are numerous restaurants in the vicinity and also all around the lake.
Getting Around: 10 minutes from NJ Transit stop in Landing and 15 min from I-80. One hour from NYC and two hours from Philly. Again, there are many restaurants and bars all around the lake and several restaurants and convenience stores within 15 min walk.
Other Things to Note: Off-street parking is limited to 3-4 cars and if you are expecting any visitors who are NOT part of the guest number in your reservation, you must discuss with Bob. This is NOT A PARTY RENTAL and please be respectful to my neighbors. Boat rentals are offered at a number of marinas around the lake and my powerboat is also available to rent .. just ask me for the details. Lake tours and dinner cruises are offered on the Miss Lotta. If you do go boating, please let me point out a few spots where there are rocks.

Beautiful house on the water. House was clean when we arrived. Rented a pontoon boat for 4 days locally. Had our own dock. Had a great time!
It's on the water and there are some steps to get to the water but, so worth it.
Probably going again next year.

Perfect setup for family vacation. Easy access to lake, comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen. Everything you need for a quiet retreat. Would stay again!

Great house in a terrific location on the lake, though the neighborhood is quite crowded. Bring a sleep mask if you want to sleep past dawn, but the sunrises were well worth it! Great bird-watching, too: even saw a bald eagle! The listing was a little misleading; half bath/game room in basement is not accessible from inside the house. Navigating outside to lower level is a little uneven for older guests.

The place was exactly as expected. I knew we would
despise the area so we went when the weather would just be the last of summer.....it was a lakehouse near our city so we wouldn't have to take a long drive - we only have
one driver = to enjoy a lakehouse. Lake Hopatcong has
a long history of being an awful party area, being so accesible to New York City

Just returned from this lovely home on Lake Hopatcong. Despite the stormy weather, our family's brief time at this lakeside house was made more enjoyable by the ample room we had to spread out, the cozy fireplace, hot tub and well stocked kitchen. And the view... stunning! Host Bob's attentiveness made check in/out a breeze. We hope to be able to return in the future!

Our family really enjoyed staying here. It was well equipped with everything we needed, spacious, comfortable and clean. The owner was very helpful and accommodating, great with communication. The house is located in a great area of the lake as well. We'd definitely try to stay here again if we come back to Lake Hopatcong.

We had a very nice time in Bob’s beautiful house. It was the perfect Spring getaway. The views are amazing and the house was perfect for us.

Beautiful and comfortable lake front home. True lakefront – perfect views and lake access with decks on three levels and a great dock. Lots of good quality outdoor seating. Feels very private and has ample parking and easy access to/from house–rare and important features on a lake. Home feels very welcoming and is well appointed in all regards – comfortable living and dining area with plenty of seating, super equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and quality linens, great lighting throughout (even in the bathrooms – which every woman appreciates). Host is easy to work with and easy to reach if you need anything (we did not) - really wants you to enjoy the property and your stay. We plan to book this property again next year.

This lake house was just as advertised - it is right on Lake Hopatcong and you have your own private dock. There are even steps off the dock if you wanted to do some swimming, though it was too cold for us at this time of the year. Seating and outdoor living areas are available at the dock level, on the deck off of the main level, and up on the second level attached to the master bedroom. Unbelievable views of the lake, perfect sunrises, and just overall amazing location.
Pros:
- Location, lake views, lake access
- House amenities (jacuzzi, dock, deck, kayaks, etc.)
- Basement game room, but we did not use it
- House even had an ample supply of kids toys - new toys are always the best toys so the kids were endlessly entertained
- Beautiful TV and lots of streaming/connectivity options, sound bar sounded great
- WiFi worked great, no issues with connectivity or speed
- Off-street parking
- Quiet neighborhood, lots of quaint restaurants nearby
- Both heating and air conditioning worked great - we were comfortable the whole time even as the spring temperatures fluctuated from 40-F to 80-F.
Cons:
- Check-in was a little stressful having to coordinate with Bob and meet him in person. I'm more accustomed to the virtual check-ins. It seems like Bob has a tendency to get guests who can't read basic instructions, so I understand it is what it is.
- Some of the kitchen appliances need a little updating. As examples: the refrigerator works, but many shelves in the door had cracks, the drawers had cracks and the slides were broken, the drawer handle falls off, and the bottom drawer wasn't even attached to anything. The dishwasher works but sections of the shelves are broken and completely rusted out and starting to disintegrate away. The little dust-vac in the kitchen runs for about 20 seconds until the battery dies and could barely vacuum up the crumbs from my kids.
- The house could use a general cleaning. As examples: there was broken glass in the bottom of the dishwasher and in the silverware basket, there was an empty used water bottle under one of the beds, there was a sticky dust film over things that don't get used regularly, and my kid's pacifier always had dog hair on it even though there are supposedly no pets allowed in this property.
Overall summary: would highly recommend and would stay here again. A little cleaning and updating would make this place palatial.

The home is spacious and the master bedroom has a great view of the lake. Only wish it had been warmer so that we could sit outside at night by the lake and savor the view.

Very good experience
We had a very nice time and good experience at Bob’s house! The house was beautiful, beds were super comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with almost every imaginable kitchen gadget! The view of the lake was beautiful and although the houses are close together, Bob has the property nicely landscaped with many trees and bushes for privacy. It is obvious, that Bob goes out of his way and makes every effort to ensure that his guests are comfortable and have everything they need for an enjoyable stay! I would definitely rent this property again!

An idyllic property and reunion
From sunrise to sunset, our days were ideal. The house, the location, and the responsive owner made our reunion with our family and NJ a memorable time. Comfortable, clean and relaxing home on one of the most beautiful spots of the lake. Thank you!

Stunning views, comfort, and luxury
The lake house was very well equipped, clean, and everything worked properly. I appreciated the high quality items—including super comfy sheets, plush towels, high quality coffee makers, chef’s knives, many kitchen gadgets, great outdoor grill, hot tub, kayaks...the list goes on. The decor is also very nice; it feels like you’re staying in a high-end home and not a rental. The views of the lake are spectacular, especially from the master bedroom. 10/10 for sure.

Overwhelming Owner Requests but Nice Location
The location and rental were great. However the owner was over the top with directions & ‘rules’. During our stay we felt worried to do something as simple as load the dishwasher incorrectly due to all the excessive directions. This was the case with other things as well. We also felt that we were asked to clean way beyond normal renting expectations. When we asked for an early check in he advised it may not be possible. Then through texts with the owner it was ready early but we were not informed until exactly check in time even after asking. We love Lake Hoptacong and will visit again just not at this location due to the overwhelming requests of the owner.

Great location and property!
We enjoyed our rainy weekend stay at Lake Hopatcong very much. The house is in a great location and Bob keeps it clean and comfortable. We were able to easily dock our boat rental at the house and everyone enjoyed the nice amenities of the house. Our girls loved the view of the lake from the hot tub. Great communication from our host.

Relaxing weekend
My husband and I visited the lake house to spend some time away from the world and relax. The lake house was exactly what we were looking for. The house was so close to the water that at times we felt like we were on a boat. The fishing was fun and we had some great fires in the fireplace. The house was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Bob was very helpful and a great host. We would visit the lake house any time!

Lovely stay
We had a lovely, relaxing stay at this beautiful lake-front home. The master bedroom had the most gorgeous views, and was spacious enough for our toddler's pack'n'play. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, as well as a wooden high chair (suitable for children who can sit upright on their own without buckling in). Our two boys enjoyed the wide selection of books and toys, and were so excited to see foxes and deer running across the frozen lake through the downstairs telescope. We played in the snow and built fires in the fireplace and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere.

Amazing getaway
Bob was an excellent host. Before we arrived he replied to every email within an hour and after arrival Bob gave us a detailed tour of the house. He was available if we needed him during our stay. The house was perfect. The views were exactly how people described it. Magnificent! The only negative...the frigid weather. Wish we could have taken advantage of the awesome outdoor area. Will definitely have to return in the spring/summer! But the fireplace was perfect! The whole trip was exactly what we needed!

Beatiful lake getaway close to NYC
We had a great time. Even though we weren't able to take full advantage of the outdoors (it being January), we still enjoyed great views of the lake (we saw a fox and several bald eagles), and walks on nearby trails. The outdoor hot tub was surprisingly comfortable in January. Our son is already asking us to plan the next visit.

Great property and owner
My family and I stayed at Bob's beautiful house on the week of August 3rd. Unfortunately, Tropical Storm Isaias hit the next day and the entire town lost power for the remainder of the week. However, Bob was very communicative throughout and made sure we were ok. The house is very charming and very clean and organized. There are nice accessories everywhere and you really feel at home. The master bedroom is gorgeous and has an incredible view of the lake to wake up to each morning. The outside areas and the dock are similarly clean and it's really easy to just lose yourself while relaxing. Overall, we really loved our (unfortunately abbreviated) stay at this property and would definitely stay again in the future!

Paradise in NJ
A stunning house basically on the lake with everything a family could need. The views are beautiful and relaxing. There was so much to do: we swam in the lake (water was perfect), hung out on the floating mat, took out the kayaks and floating tubes and were in and out of the hot tub. When we wanted to calm the kids inside, there were a ton of games to play and an entire closet of toys that my toddler was beyond excited about. The beds were comfy, everything in top shape and clean and inviting. I would say home away from home, but this was way nicer than our home! Bob is beyond attentive and will work with you on anything you need. We will definitely be back! If you are looking for the perfect lake house stay, I assure you this is it!!!
