About this bed and breakfast
You’ll love our home because it is the ideal place to recharge and rejuvenate, a sanctuary right in the heart of nature, yet still in town. You'll enjoy the coziness, views and the classic vintage feel. Our place is good for couples, adventurers, writers and artists, business travelers, and families with kids. We are close to multiple national and state parks, the library, local hiking trails, the city pool and town park, restaurants and dining, and many family-friendly activities. We have created our space to be a peaceful spot filled with natures beauty right out your backdoor. We invite you to enjoy the stillness after the bustle of your days busy exploring.
We are a block away from a great hiking trail. The Squaw Trail is a great morning or evening hike to catch the sunrise or sunset and is a great place to pause & reflect as it overlooks the town. The same trailhead also provides access to a great singletrack mountain biking trail that runs through the box canyon right behind our house. Being so close to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and all the amazing national and state parks is a real treat. Our space is peaceful and in a great location. Truly a battery recharger.
The rental unit is the lower half of our split-level home with a private entrance down a few steps on the left side (when facing it from the street). We occupy the upper half and may be there during your visit but we also travel a lot and may not be around. We really hope you enjoy the space and look forward to your stay with us.
Please be aware that we have dogs on property. Dogs bark, so if you are easily annoyed by barking dogs this may not be the right spot for you.
We now offer an easy-to-use electric barbecue grill and a shaded picnic table.
Please note that we currently do provide free wifi!
Access will be given in welcome message.
We are an energy-conscious household and as such our water heater powers off during peak (expensive) times which are 6 to 11 AM from October through March, and 4 to 10 PM from April through September. That said, it’s a 50 gallon tank which is generally adequate for multiple showers. If more hot water is needed during those times you can easily turn on the manual switch next to the hot water heater in the laundry room.
The TV is newly added so please ask if you have any questions. There is no cable or local channels but there are apps for Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. (you’ll need to use your own accounts) plus a free movie app. Be sure to log out of any of your accounts before you leave.
When checking out, please lock the door and turn the thermostat off.

we wanted to explore the area for future vacations.

The rental is in the lower floor of the house. It was well maintained. Kitchen had all the hardware to cook with. The backyard and trails within walking distance were stunning. Kanab good be a mini National Park by itself with the sand caves, trails to dinosaur tracks, etc. Its location to Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon (North Rim) made it a perfect spot for our young family. Thanks so much to the owners of this property. Im ready to buy a property here myself!

Very nice basement appartment, fully equipped, large parking area and.....deer wandering about. used it as a base for an ATV trip, plenty of room for the trailer. Clean and comfortable.

The location in front of a beautiful red rock wall was great. Kanab is a fun little town with some pretty nice restaurants! Our suite was very clean and well equipped. The owners were there above us but made so little noise that we hardly knew they were there. Decor was great and everything was in good working order. Thank you very much! We recommend!

The location and the property was perfect for our stay to visit the Kanab area. I will recommend it to my friends and family coming to this area.

I had smoked outside when I first arrived. I even brought my own ashtray then I read the book of rules. No smoking even outside so I sent a message apologizing for doing so and no response. I sent it twice and still no response. Saw the woman that ran it with him. She didn’t even acknowledge us. A/c was on a timer so it got stuffy had to turn it down then it went back to schedule which was set at 83. Uncomfortable feeling like we were intruding on their space.

April 21-24, 2023.
Nice quiet property in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Picnic table and chairs outdoors were great for relaxing in late afternoon/evening.
The town of Kanab had some really good restaurants. The travel time to Zion was short and a beautiful drive. The drive to Bryce Canyon was a little longer but offered the opportunity to see more of the landscape and scenery. All in all, a very satisfying stay and experience for my husband and me.

Here's my review wording:
We enjoyed the location which was perfect for our various planned hikes. Kitchen was well stocked, plenty of towels and cleaning products. The only surprise was that the "guest house" was actually a basement apartment in a house. We had envisioned a separate dwelling. But we had a section of the backyard with its beautiful view and a separate entrance It isn't really below grade so there's plenty of natural light.
There are three dogs on the property but barking was not an issue for us at all. It was very quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable.

Great location, lovely backyard with great hiking right behind, fully stocked kitchen and bathroom, very easy check-in and out. You can tell there are people above you with pets, but we knew that when we booked and it wasn’t a big deal; it was generally quiet.

We loved our stay. Best backyard I have ever had.

home base for hiking
We stayed here in the middle of our hiking trip. It’s 90 minutes to Bryce Canyon and less than an hour to Zion. The backyard view is spectacular. We were only there in the evenings for sleeping but it was exactly what we needed. Ate breakfast and packed our lunch every day. Grocery store is only five minutes away. Owners live on the other half of the house so we could hear some walking above in the mornings and the dogs barking… but overall a great stay. .

Loved!
The inside is pretty standard and bare (although it had everything we needed), but the backyard is absolutely stunning. We could not have had a better view. I would recommend this to anyone in the area. Perfect distance from both Bryce Canyon and Zion which is where we hiked

Amazing place
This house was in a perfect location for us. It was a great escape. The view from the backyard is out of this world. 😍 The town is charming with friendly people and great restaurants. Highly recommend this place if you ever visit South Utah.

Perfect simple abode for exploring
This is a perfect rental for a small family who is spending time in the area and looking for a base for local parks. It's not a fancy dwelling, it's simple and cozy, but if you're planning on spending most of your time outside at Zion or the Grand Canyon or Bryce Canyon, this is a perfect rental - all of your needs are met and their rules for checking in and out are as simple as they get.

We really enjoyed staying at this place. It was very cozy and close to Zion and Bryce Canyon. It was equipped with the plates-pots, pans we needed. The cute style of the place made it welcoming to relax in. Beautiful backdrop in the back yard!

Nice getaway spot with surrounding adventure
Perfect space for adventure in the surrounding National Parks. The space was clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were very comfortable as well. We had the pleasure of meeting Josh and he shared many ideas of where to eat in the area. BTW, go to Escobar’s!

Great, close hiking trails!
Wonderful place to stay for our Grand Canyon half marathon event...we had everything we needed...great amenities for sure! Kanab was a nice town, and we were able to drive to many sight-seeing spots. Also, hiked Squaw Trail one evening since it was so close to the house. Loved sitting on the back patio with the backdrop of the redrocks. (If the yardwork/weeds by the picnic table had been tended to, it would have been absolutely perfect.) We would certainly stay here again.

Great Location
Property enabled us to see 5 national parks in 5 days. Perfect location. Josh was very responsive to questions and has created a nice sanctuary. He was also very receptive to small suggestions on how to make guests experiences even better.

Nice lower level experience
Very nice accomodations in a nice neighborhood. We hiked the nice trail behind the park. Two minor issues. Upper floor was occupied and noisy at times. Also, back yard was not mowed leaving picnic table unusable. We did sit on the back patio twice. Very pleasant!

Great location!
We had potentially one of our best vacations here! This house accommodated our family of 5 without any issues. We bought food to have breakfast at the house, packed lunches, and then we ate dinners out. It was a good location to visit Zion, Bryce, Page, AZ (Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend), Best Friends Sanctuary, and explore some other lesser- known trails (we found Dinosaur tracks at one, climbed up to some cool caves, walked through the belly of a dragon, and climbed Coral Sand Dunes)! All in a matter of 5 days, it was so much fun. Josh is fantastic about communication and was always quick to respond to any questions. Glad we found this place! And oh- if you have kids, bring a basketball and/or scooter or skateboards, there is a really great little community park a block away with lighted basketball courts and a great skatepark. Our boys were bummed they didn't have theirs - maybe next time!

Great Location as a base for South Utah National Parks
This fit our need as a base for day trips to numerous National Parks in Southern Utah.It was comfortable, the wifi worked great and we found we didn't miss a TV at all. Josh was a great host. We never met him, but he answered all of our questions via text.

Cozy, relaxing, great view and area.
Great place to stay, owner friendly and helpful. House was fully stocked for cooking your own meals, plenty of supplies (towels, tissue, soaps, etc.)wifi good connection. Walking distance to three trails, city park. Draw back is no cell service while in the unit and no tv to our children's dismay (LOL).

Kanab, UT is a great home base
Red Rock Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah was a great place to stay as it was centrally located to all the places we were wanting to hike, Zion, North Rim of Grand Canyon, Bryce, and the Grand Staircase-Escalante. It was very nice to return each day to the same comfortable place where we could eat-in or eat-out in Kanab's many restaurants. The Kanab Tourist information and the Grand Staircase-Escanlante information center both provide excellent guides to the area, so it became an almost daily visit for information. The Red Rock Sanctuary has many of the hiking/information flyers at the accommodation which made us aware of what to look and expect at the information centers. This was a great orientation.

One word.....breathtaking.
Red Rock Sanctuary was everything that was advertised and more. It is nestled in a great spot in a great little town in Southern Utah. The rental was great, all new appliances and very clean. The location for anyone wanting to visit the National Parks of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona is ideal, everything is within a couple hours drive or less. The rental owners are very responsive to any issues or questions. I would definitely recommend this property.
