We are a charitable trust who went to the venue to do some strategic planning. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this venue! The house was beautiful, clean, well stocked, modernised while still retaining the character of early NZ, and the site was just beautiful. The owners were wonderfully friendly as well, which also contributed to a great stay. Situated beside the sea, looking out over stunning vistas (including the amazing views through the house windows to the sea, framed by scarlet bougainvillea!), and the whole place was just wonderful. We had a fantastic stay for three days, and accomplished a lot of work as well. We will definitely be back as often as we can afford! :)

Unfortunately we were here during cyclone Gabrielle and had no power, water or cellphones. Fortunately we had camping equipment and managed well. Sue (our host) was incredible!
I would love to go back again for sure and explore this beautiful part of New Zealand.

Unfortunately we lucked out with the weather as it was raining most of the weekend but we still had a great time.
This is a fantastic property for a large group, heaps of space for the kids to run around outside and plenty of activities for them to do. The kids loved fishing off the little wharf. There is a well equipped kitchen and nice clean bathrooms. Definitely recommend rock shoes as the beach has lots of oysters. We would love to go back on a sunny weekend.

So welcoming
What a stunning spot, we chose to stay here for a week while doing business in the area. James and Sue were so incredibly accommodating.
As long as you don't need super fast broadband this place is ideal for small team planning workshops, if given a choice between a Motel in Russell or Clendon, I know what I'd pick.
Thanks Guys, look forward to seeing you again!

James and Sue have perfected the art of hosting! The location is off the charts, the home itself is a spot-on blend of rustic and modern - notably the kitchen and bathrooms are near-new and highly functional. The trees, the shade, the stream, the bay - add in two wonderful hosts - it was everything we wanted. Thanks James and Sue, we loved our stay.

A slice of Heaven
This property is a gem. One of the oldest inhabited houses in NZ right on the waters edge. It was so relaxing sitting on the deck looking out over the bay
The house was spotlessly clean. The hosts, Sue & Jim were very welcoming. They have written a summary of the house & decorated it with fascinating artifacts. The house is really family friendly & even comes with a children's playroom. There are swings hanging from trees and the beach is perfect for kids.
We will definitely be going back. Thanks for the awesome stay

Fantastic experience staying at Clendon house
My family and I had a wonderful experience staying at Clendon house. We were excited to discover the history of the property and the hosts (James and Sue) were excellent at giving the history of the area.
We had a wonderful stay, launching the boat from the property to explore the BoI.
The house was immaculate and was equipped with everything we required for a comfortable stay.
This place is by far the best experience we have had through either Bookabach or Airbnb. I thoroughly recommend the property to my friends and family - and now the general public
