Concrete launching ramp (suitable 2 hours each side of high tide) and fish bench.
All tide boat launching available at Te Uenga about 5km away.
No boat? Some guests fish from the kayaks or at low tide walk out to fish from nearby rocks.

Swimming is fun in the stream at high tide and there is shallow swimming from the beach (a long walk to get deep water). Good swimming at Jills Beach within walking distance, and about 15 minutes drive to Elliot Bay on the East Coast for sand and surf, and about 20 minutes to Long Beach over the hill from Russell township.
Escape to the cool of the forest at two easy Kauri walks, (best for children over 3yrs).
For the more adventurous walk to the old Whangamumu Whaling station (2.5 hours return) or even to Cape Brett.

In Russell about 15 minutes away (17 km) are cafes, restaurants, tours (e.g. Hole in the Rock), fishing charters, museum, the oldest church in NZ, Pompallier Mission and Printery, oyster farms and vineyards. The local mini bus tour is highly recommended.

Further afield Paihia, Waitangi and Kerikeri offer history, shopping, winerys and golf.

Your hosts live in nearby house on the property and can assist with baby sitting and meeting your needs.

Please bring your own beach towels, wet shoes and fishing rods.

Clendon Lodge is a multi-million dollar location with reasonable rates as the house is tidy, comfortable but not 'restored'.
It is a stunning venue for marquee weddings and enquiries are welcome.

We are a charitable trust who went to the venue to do some strategic planning. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this venue! The house was beautiful, clean, well stocked, modernised while still retaining the character of early NZ, and the site was just beautiful. The owners were wonderfully friendly as well, which also contributed to a great stay. Situated beside the sea, looking out over stunning vistas (including the amazing views through the house windows to the sea, framed by scarlet bougainvillea!), and the whole place was just wonderful. We had a fantastic stay for three days, and accomplished a lot of work as well. We will definitely be back as often as we can afford! :)

Unfortunately we were here during cyclone Gabrielle and had no power, water or cellphones. Fortunately we had camping equipment and managed well. Sue (our host) was incredible! I would love to go back again for sure and explore this beautiful part of New Zealand. Wonderful house with great history so well looked after.
