We truly enjoyed our stay and the property was an excellent get away for the two of us. There was tons of room to spare and we will definitely make a return trip with the extended family. The property was accurately described and everything you could ever need was included on the property. The lawn is incredibly large with frisbee golf and plenty of space for our family dog to run and enjoy the landscape. Molasses pond was incredible with stunning views throughout the day but especially at sunrise and sunset. Holly was very responsive and a great host! We will definitely be back!

Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The pond was clear, clean and warm. We all loved using the paddle boards. I wish I would have brought my water shoes to get into the water though. The house was set back far but that was expected. It was clean and homey.
I would absolutely come back to this property for more pond time!

Property is in bad condition. Sheets were not washed. We found other people’s hair and nails
In the beds. Carpets were filthy. Deck was
In a hazardous shape. We were excited to grill then I quickly realized that the grill was falling apart and had tons of water sitting in it. No clean water at the property.

My Family had a wonderful week staying @ this home on our vacation this summer. It was so easy for check in and check out process. The house was clean and has a wonderful lawn for spreading out and game time. We loved the trail to the lake, and we had Kayaks to use, and the Pond is just breath taking. Very private. Our family would stay @ this property again. I would recommend this for any family.

We were excited to stay at our lake side vacation rental, with so many amenities it would be a blast. However what was advertised and what we found when we got there were two different things. So we have listed the Pros and Cons so other vacationers know what to expect.
Pros: Pot and pans in good shape;Dishes & glasses clean & plentiful;Nice location;Molasses Pond beautiful;Plenty of Parking;Corn Hole was nice;Tiki area nice;Beds very well made;Wifi & wifi calling/texting worked good;Nice magnetic closing screen on back door;Cozy feel to the house;
At first Host was responsive with issues giving ETAs for resolutions
Cons: No hot water in shower (new faucet in drawer, not installed; No smoke detectors (new ones still in package on table and in drawer); No land line;No power in bathroom outlet; No hairdryer;Issues with electrical outlets;Couldn't stream Netflix;DW door can't open all the way and smells;Refrigerator drawers broken, but stays cold!;Ceiling fan upstairs doesn't work and it's hot;Deck has loose & rotted boards covered with rugs;Old trashed pool under deck filled with stagnant water; No croquet, most outdoor games unusable; No canoe;single kayaks
not steerable due to missing fins;
Host never carried through with fixing issues with landline, fan, smoke detectors, streaming and no hot water, however did offer compensation, that's why this is a 3 star review.
Even with the issues we managed to have a nice time with family. We will laugh about this in the future!

If you’re looking for a remote getaway with lots of land and lake views this is it! Nice house, well manicured. We loved walking the dogs down the trail to the lake and/or lounging in the greens near the house. It is super-remote. There is Wi-Fi but it’s spotty so I wouldn’t advise conducting business if possible. This is where you want to go to get away from it all and have privacy with a view. Thank you for the stay!

Overall a great experience. Only problem is the single bathroom. For guests numbering 10 they could do at least an extra half a bathroom.

This place was so wonderful. The waterfront was beautiful, so many activities to keep the whole family occupied, from grandpa to kids. The house was perfect for cooking and relaxing in evening. Would highly recommend this place!

Perfect Getaway
Stayed here with my two kids and my mom. The house was the perfect size for us to spread out but had a great indoor and outdoor space for us to spend time together. The lake was our favorite spot, every day we went swimming and kayaking. We did experience an issue with the internet (at no fault of the owner and they worked with us on resolving the issue) but we utilized the board games and DVDs in the evenings to help pass the time.
I would highly recommend this rental to those that are looking for a true getaway. Thank you Holly and family for opening your home for us to enjoy!

Relaxing and lots of fun on Molasses Pond
Our extended family had a wonderful time at Camp Molasses. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming, hiking and campfires along with a lot of relaxation and fun! Highly recommend Camp Molasses for active families, as well as families who are looking to enjoy a peaceful retreat.

Great Location - Not Adequate For Large Group
When we originally booked, the listing said that the house slept 12 people and had 2 bathrooms. After we booked and paid, we realized that there was actually only 1 bathroom and 1 outdoor shower. The listing now accurately shows 1 bathroom. The property was beautiful, and the water activities were well-stocked with more kayaks and paddleboards than were actually listed. Mosquitoes were a HUGE problem. I would either advertise the house for less people or add 2 bathrooms and a game room in the basement. 1 bathroom is definitely NOT enough for a house that sleeps 12!

Maine getaway
Over all its ok. The only suggestion i have is, the bathroom. It’s just hard to have 11 people with 1 bathroom. And also the mosquitoes, we didn’t enjoy the outdoor because of mosquitoes.

Absolutely zero issues with the place or stay, absolutely amazing.
It's exactly as advertised and was surprisingly mosquito free. 100% would stay again

Nice House
Our visit was marred by hot weather (90 deg F). House was very hot. Variety of watercraft did not meet advertised, there was no canoe. Overall, house is recommended for normal Maine summer weather; it was comfortable when the heat moderated.

Beautiful getaway
This is an awesome property, so private and the access to the water is fantastic. It's definitely distanced from central locations and its an hour to Acadia, but if you want privacy and a beautiful environment it's worth it. At least there's a lot of access to cooking your own food including grills on the home property and by the waterfront and the access to the pond is a huge bonus.

Amazing
This property is big and amazing. As it took know time in feeling right at home. We did not have good weather during our stay so we used the inside as I would have prefer to be outside on the this big property. However the camp fit everyone comfortably. Washing machine, plenty of blankets and towels. If I was to choose one thing to mention that could better cater the guest, I would recommend more platters and items to hold food items. Overall our stay was great.

We recently had an outdoor wedding at the property. We booked the property because of the georgeous yard space, which did not disappoint. We rented out tables and chairs through Wallace Events, and they were able to deliver with no issues. We hosted 45 people with plenty of social distancing room. Some guests had trouble locating the house, but for the most part it was pretty easy to find. Be aware that the house itself does not have a house number, and the number is located on a planter near the entrance to the porch. The lakefront was so beautiful and only a short walk from the home. There are kayaks, canoes and paddleboats available which is so much fun!One issue I do have to mention is that the grooms mother stepped on a soft spot in the porch and her ankle fell through. She was not injured but could have been. There are several soft spots on the porch, so be careful! The property owner, Holly, was notified and she informed us that the porch is going to be replaced next spring. The main complaint I have despite all the wonderful things about the property is the amount of yellow jackets. It was not disclosed upon booking that there was a yellow jaclet problem even though there was wasp spray in the kitchen closet.Several guests at our wedding are severely allergic to them. Four of our guests were stung once and the groom was stung three times. That is more than 10 percent of the attendants! One guest that was stung had a reaction to the sting and her leg swelled up causing her to have to leave. Overall we enjoyed our stay and Holly's helpfulness throughout the process, but would advise to be very carful if you are allergic to wasps!

Exactly what we were looking for
We had a fantastic family vacation. Holly was a wonderful host and the property was everything we were looking for. The house had plenty of room for a family of 5 and had everything we needed. The lakefront beach area was awesome, the huge yard was great for kids to ride bikes, play lawn games, and stargaze near the fire pit. My kids favorite part of the entire trip was catching frogs in the backyard pond. Thank you Holly for sharing your home, we will definitely be back next summer!

Perfect family getaway
Myself and my 2 sisters and their husbands and children look for places to vacation together every year. We prefer a lake atmosphere as we have a boat for tubing and other water sports but we prefer lakes that will not be busy for safety reasons. This place was perfect. The house was smaller than we hoped but still fit all 12 of us and wasn't a big deal since we spent the majority of the time outside. The land was perfect for us and the tiki bar was definitely a nice touch! We brought our golf cart along as we knew it was a small hike to the water. With 7 children under 10, this was a great way to get things to and from the water easily.
Overall, we had an amazing time and we will definitely consider this place again in the future.

Family get together
The property was great for a family get together. We especially enjoyed the lake and kayaks. The water was cool at the end of August, but everyone went in and had a great time. The rooms were spacious enough for a large family and comfortable. It was great to be disconnected and just relax or play games, something we do't do enough. It was a beautiful drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves.

SPECTACULAR! Can’t wait to return!
We had our wedding here this past weekend and it was SO amazing! Simply perfect! 75 or so guests and there was so much room! Had an enormous tent on the front lawn, lawn games and fire going, withe ceremony by the water. Could not have asked for a better experience either! Whole bridal party stayed with us (total 10 of us). The owner was so responsive, and helpful! Even let us check it out before hand!
And we literally had NO problem with anyone posting photos online before we were done because there was no service (bridal party could have because the internet access was pretty good!)! Haha loved it!

Beautiful Property
We fell in love with the property right from the start! Having the large backyard and the woods leading to the water was absolutely amazing!

Gorgeous and quiet get-away
If you remember that the listing is described as “Camp Molasses” you’ll be happy with what you find. The benefits of staying here are the amazing and beautiful grounds complete with a serene lake and wooded trails and campfire rings. Also plenty of toys- our kids loves playing basketball and hoola hooping and hunting for frogs, kayaking, swimming etc. The house itself has some quirks- windows that don’t stay open, windows without screens, not enough seating for the tv room and not the cleanest place or most comfortable beds. We just thought of it as camping with the benefit of indoor plumbing and a shower so we were perfectly happy- but this is not a fancy or luxurious home. We loved every minute of our stay!

Family Reunion
The following items were awful. Grill was disgusting we had to clean out and replace tank. The oven was also not clean. The toilet seal was not working so constant wetness and drips on floor. Inadequate for 10 people. Wasps flying into bathroom must have a nest. Living room couch was gross. WIFY inadequate. Missing light bulbs. House was not very clean. Water access and view for older people was awful. The description does not indicate this. Poor description. Not enough chairs to eat at kitchen table.
Good things: fire pit, boats, sleeping accommodations, washer/dryer, deck/screen house and location.
All in all I would not rent again the pictures and description did not meet our expectations.

Beautiful lake house
We had a great time at this remote lake property. The kids enjoyed using the kayaks, paddle board, swim raft, and fishing off the dock. The drive into Acadia was farther than I thought (over an hour) but it was worth it to have our own lake to come back to. One downside was no air conditoning and it was hot during our week, but I imagine that doesn't happen to often in Maine. Overall was a great family vacation.

Family vacation near Acadia
Our extended family of eight thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The swimming was great, and the house easily accommodated all of us. The outdoor shower is a great bonus!

Nice property!
This was a great location for our Maine vacation! The flowers were beautiful, and the home was a nice big size for our large family.

Serene, fun and comfortable!
My family and I had a wonderful long weekend stay! We will stay longer next time! It was spacious for us (7 adults, 3 children) and plenty of activities to engage all! This mini vacation did not disappoint, we loved it.
