About this cottage rental
Duck Cove Cottage - If relaxation, peace and quiet are part of the agenda, Duck Cove Cottage may help achieve that goal. This 19 year old, 1 bedroom carriage house can be ideal for the couple that wants a base to explore Down East, tour Acadia(1 hour away), attend the Wooden Boat School(5-7 min), or just sit in the chairs by tranquil, tidal Herrick Bay for your time here. The bird life on the bay, an occasional eagle soaring by or the red squirrels dashing through the trees are your closest neighbors. Besides a spacious living area it has a fully equipped kitchen, king bed in the bedroom, sleeper sofa in the living area, walk in closet, 1 bath, 2 dressing areas, and washer- dryer utility area in the 850 sq feet. The deck overlooks the bay and offers a very tranquil atmosphere situated on 4 peaceful acres. Our residence is adjacent to the cottage but is not connected to the carriage house. The house is not on the rental market, and if occupied, we would be there.
Charcoal grill and lobster cooking pots are in the garage on the ground level. We anticipate your slogan will be like ours after your vacation here-- 'Time spent in Maine is not wasted'.

This is a very comfortable, thoughtfully furnished and magnificently situated cottage. There is a lovely view of the bay with its changing tides framed by pine trees. The owner was extremely helpful and showed a genuine interest in making our stay a most positive experience.

Duck Cove cottage was a terrific place to stay. The upstairs apartment is very comfortable, excellently furnished and decorated, with a great view from the outdoor deck.
Gary and Debi couldn't have been nicer and we really enjoyed talking with them and getting to know them a little bit.

This gorgeous wood planked cottage held all the amenities of home with the most accommodating hostess and host. The area is loaded with local bay hiking trails, out-the-cardoor views of local lobster boats, many small shops and dining choices and beautiful views of the bay and wooded acreage. Keep the phone/camera close in hand for unique scenery, wildlife and New England style photo ops. We loved this vacation and will travel from Indiana to do it again.

A perfect place! We loved our week in Maine while staying in this well-appointed, welcoming cottage. Our hosts were phenomenal and we could not have asked for more. If you are looking for a beautiful place to call home for a week, stay at Duck Cove Cottage. You will not be disappointed!

What an amazing place to call home for a week or two! Gorgeous view, beautiful cabin, and the most wonderful hosts ever! This "cabin" is newer construction and is gorgeous inside and out. All the amenities you would ever want, including a kitchen with all sorts of utensils, small appliances, and good coffee pots - both the Keurig style and the drip type.
Our hosts, Gary and Debi shared some of their favorite local places with us, including a gift shop that also sold lobstas for the best price, anywhere. Gary showed us how to setup and use the powerful propane powered lobsta pot, and with his instructions, we cooked several batches of perfectly steamed lobstas.
If you go to Deck Cove Cabin, be warned - you will NOT want to leave.

We had a lovely time staying at the Duck Cove Cottage for two weeks. The hosts were very kind, delivered us newspapers, and were readily available for recommendations and assistance if needed. The cottage is located above the primary home's garage but we never noticed cars coming & going. The view from the deck was beautiful. There were two chairs out by the waterfront for lounging. It was foggy the whole time we were there but the gas fireplace was a cozy way to enjoy the gray days. Would recommend!

Beautiful Cottage and view. Everything is described as advertised. Homeowners are absolutely perfect and you couldn't ask for better host. Definitely recommend this property for anyone wanting to just relax and enjoy some time away. Would stay there again without hesitation.

What a terrific find! This carriage-house rental on the water in Brooklin, Maine absolutely suited us to a T when we rented it for the week before Memorial Day. The weather was terrific, the ambiance of the lodging is warm and friendly, the kitchen is REALLY well equipped for stay-in cooking. The location in relation to other points in Maine we wanted to explore was perfect. As a bonus, Gary & Debi are perfect hosts, warm and friendly, and available as needed for tips and suggestions. We had a wonderful time!

What a perfect little hideaway! We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Duck Cove Cottage! Gary and Debi were so helpful and gave such great guidance and tips about the area! They checked in with us to make sure that we have everything we needed and encouraged us to ask questions if we had any. We have never received this kind of service staying anywhere else! I put a lot of time into reading reviews and every review on here is so true! We have never been to Maine before and we are so happy that we made the trip out! The views are stunning and the cottage was stocked with absolutely everything that you could ever need. It’s so nice to be able to just show up and enjoy the vacation without worrying about what you don’t have! Cottage was clean and the bed was so comfy! It is an hour drive to Acadia which was a nice and easy drive. The only regret that we have is that we were unable to stay longer! My husband and I are already looking forward to go back next year! Do NOT look anywhere else if you are looking for a peaceful retreat!!! ❤️

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Duck Cove. It was a home away from home. Communication with property manager was a breeze. He was helpful and ensured we had everything we needed. Location is away from the city, but a short drive up to town. We enjoyed the quiet sounds of nature and listening to the water. The wildlife was an added bonus. The property is everything that is listed in the posting. Came stocked with all the equipment to boil our own lobster! Definitely recommend this cottage for any couple looking to get away and disconnect. We hope to return soon!

Gary and Debi were gracious hosts. Gary walked us through the apartment and showed us everything we needed to know. They were a wealth of information about where to eat and what to see locally to enhance our stay.
Highly recommend Duck Cove for a couple who want a unique Maine experience.

Duck Cove Cottage is the perfect Maine experience!
We loved our week staying in this beautiful house. It was so cozy and had everything possible provided. It is located on a beautiful little cove that allowed some water views and nestled back in the woods away from the crowds, which was perfect for us. We enjoyed being able to sit outside by the fire every night and appreciated the use of a grill and lobster pot. It doesn't get any better than your host buying you lobster right off the boat and helping you cook it! Gary and Debi are hosts extraordinaire and are part of the great experience we had. They know so much about the area and gave us some great insights for exploring.
Acadia National Park is within an easy hour drive so we had the best of everything from this location. We can't wait to visit Duck Cove Cottage again soon!

Fantastic cottage on a beautiful bay
Duck Cove Cottage is a wonderful retreat for a couple! It is roomy, well appointed beautifully decorated and sparkling clean. The king bed is so comfy with top quality bedding and there are spectacular views from every large window. It has all you could possibly need for your stay from a washer and dryer to a super well-equipped kitchen. The cottage sits on a scenic bay in a woodsy setting and we enjoyed sipping wine on the large deck and watching the birds on the water. Our hosts were very communicative and helpful which we appreciated We had a perfect week in this little slice of heaven!

most memorable vacation
Duck Cove Cottage certainly warrants a review. This placed exceeded 5 stars. We booked this home based on the reviews and truly they were accurate and more so. This is a slice of heaven. Tt is arduous to summarize how beautiful, immaculate and pristine the house, grounds and environment were presented; therefore the pictures do not do it justice. When we pulled up our hosts, Debi and Gary were there to give us a warm welcome. They were very accommodating, personable and seasoned with a wealth of information. Places to eat, shop and site see. The home itself offered all amenities you needed and so elegantly decorated. THE HOSTS ARE THE PEOPLE YOU WANT AS YOUR VERY OWN NEIGHBOR AT HOME. Everyday, you woke up to the delightful sounds of peace and nature calling. Ventured everyday to their recommendations and enjoyed every bit of it. Most enjoyable was Acadia National Park, Stonington, Bar Harbor and Ellsworth. Each offered its own beauty and history. Wished we would have taken more than a week because there was so much more we wanted to do; therefore, I guess we will be booking another trip. We just cannot put all this into words. Perfect Maine vacation. Lastly, it was difficult to depart because of our hosts and their generous hospitality. Fondly, from Racine, Wisconsin. Thank you

Even better than advertised!
My husband and I spent a week at this beautiful property. The pictures don’t do it justice - the cottage is large, comfortable, and well maintained. The views are fantastic and the owners keep the entire property grounds (which are large) beautifully landscaped. The cottage is extremely well equipped for cooking, and the owners are attentive and available for any questions or recommendations. The location is great for exploring the Blue Hill Peninsula and beyond - we spent time in Blue Hill, Deer Isle/Stonington, and in Acadia at both Isle Au Haute and Mount Desert Isle. It’s a fantastic spot if you’re looking for something peaceful, homelike, and conveniently located but away from tourist crowds. We highly recommend a stay!

A 50th Anniversary Surprise
Our trip t 59 Duck Cove was a total surprise for my wife. It was our 50th Anniversary. I told her that it might be very rustic with two single beds but it DID have coffee pot. Since we celebrated our honeymoon in a northern Minnesota cabin in the woods, Duck Cove was PERFECT in all respects. It had all that we needed and more. Gary was VERY HELPFUL We drove through little beautiful little towns overlooking the pristine water with lobster boats. We had never been in a place like that before.. They is a adequate super market with a gas station in Blue Hill. We kayaked in Walkers Pond. We watched lobster men load their boats in Blue Hill and Stonington. Blue Hill is the largest town around. Sandys is good place to eat. Per Gary's recommendation, we celebrated our anniversary at the ARBORVIN Restaurant. Food was superb and the service was excellent.
The Best thing we like about our trip is that they were no 7-11s McDonalds etc. There is one subway in Blue Hill. Tourist trinkets are had to find. I want to thank Gary for a memorable experience. I am totally sure that you will enjoy yourself to the MAX. This was ourfirst trip outside Virginia since the pandemic started.

Great stay at Duck Cove Cottage
We had a great week at the Duck Cove Cottage. The owner, Gary, was very helpful before and during the visit. The cottage is just as beautiful live as seen in the pictures. It is well stocked. I don't know what you would need that wasn't available. We were able to get in five hikes in the area. Blue Hill Mountain has awesome view. Did two kayak paddles around Herrick Bay. Very pretty with several bald eagle sightings. In general, a nice location to kick back and relax.

Ideal Maine cottage experience
Duck Cove is a magical, quiet place and the Randolphs are consummate hosts who pay extraordinary attention to detail. The cottage was immaculate, the kitchen very-well appointed and the quality of sheets, towels and other items was superior to other rentals. The grounds are landscaped beautifully. We felt at home immediately and can't wait to go back!

Quiet retreat near Brooklin Maine
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Duck Cove Cottage. The apartment and grounds are well maintained in a beautiful setting on a quiet cove. Pretty much what most people from away would imagine a Maine coastal cottage to be. We hated to leave everyday to go on our planned trips to the Schoodic and Mt. Desert Island areas. Nearby Brooklin is a perfect little small town and we felt welcomed by the locals when we stopped in at the Brooklin General Store. Blue Hill is about 12 miles away and the best place to buy groceries, beer, wine etc. If you are planning on attending or visiting the Wooden Boat School, it's just a couple of miles down the road. The cottage has a very functional and well equipped kitchen. The owners have left a lot of maps and local information which was very helpful in planning our days away from the property. The porch facing the waterfront is a delightful place to sit and read or enjoy an evening glass of wine. We highly recommend this property if you want small town charm and to get away from the crowds and noise. We'll be back next year!

All the Conveniences of Home
Duck Cove Cottage has everything you need for a restful stay. It has a beautiful, quiet and private setting. We enjoyed viewing the cove during the different stages of the tide. The cottage is spacious and clean. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The washer and dryer were very useful. It has a good location. You are about an hour from Acadia National park. but yet you can also easily reach some great Maine coastal destinations (Deer Isle, Stonington, Castine, Penobscot). The hosts were helpful and will go the extra step to make you feel welcome. It was a great experience!

One of our best ever!
Gary and Debi are wonderful hosts. The home was nicely appointed and the views from the deck and windows were great. We enjoyed coming back to the home after shopping at quaint shops in town, hiking in Acadia, and eating lobster!

Thoughtful, friendly and immaculate
The first impression is “wow.” So pretty, inside and out. Then I noticed the thoughtful touches — truly couldn’t think of a thing they could add. Wonderfully comfortable bed, choices of seating, two sink areas, cute kitchen, spacious deck... Visiting with Gary and Debi was a treat—easy to feel like longtime acquaintances. No down side to this place, except leaving.

Perfect Escape for Two
The Duck Cove Carriage House suited us just perfectly for a week away from the urban heat and beat. It was well equipped with everything we needed. The Randolph's were great hosts checking for our every need and tips on the local surrounds.
The seclusion provided a wonderful retreat atmosphere. The location pushed us to explore the Coast beyond but not excluding Mount Desert Island. Island hopping boat tours abound in the area and are convenient in local harbor towns. If you're a lobstah lover, you're located in the heart of the fishing trade in nearby waters. Nearby Blue Hill, Castine and Stonington are neat towns beyond Brooklin that provide quiet opportunities to catch a meal.
If you're a paddler, the cove is right out the backyard. If you're a hiker, Acadia is a quiet but about hour ride from the house without the congestion of summer life on Mt. Desert Island.

A well-appointed cottage in a beautiful location!
This was our second time at Duck Cove Cottage, and it was even better than we remembered. The property is right on the water and nicely landscaped, and the carriage house is well equipped and spotless. Duck Cove Cottage was the ideal location for us; quiet and away from it all, but also close to Acadia National Park, shopping, and bike trails. The owners, Gary and Debi promptly returned phone calls and emails, and supplied directions and information about the home, property, and the local area. They were a pleasure to talk to and we are so happy they shared their home with us for a week.

Duck Cove Cottage, a gem on the Maine coast
Your anticipation builds as you drive down a long twisting lane through the woods and start to wonder what you will find at the end. And then before you is an architecturally sophisticated cottage and main house. A real surprise for Maine.
The best part is still to come. Go up the stairs and before you is a view of the lawn and the waterfront tree line giving just enough of a view of the bay beyond.
The cottage accommodations too are a pleasant surprise. Comfortable, tasteful décor, an excellent working kitchen, and all the entertainment facilities you will need. The wifi system has the fastest internet connection we have experienced.
All in all, a lovely place to stay.

Idyllic location
We had a wonderful week at this superb cottage. It is beautifully decorated and both cottage and grounds are very well maintained. This peaceful romantic location has beautiful views and lots of comfortable places to relax.
The kitchen is equipped with every gadget you could possibly imagine. The owners Gary and Debi have a wealth of local information that they are happy to share.
If you feel like exploring the area it is full of little inlets, beaches, harbors and small towns. Our longest trip was to Bar Harbor which took about an hour - well worth the trip and the views from Acadia park were breathtaking.
Gary and Debi have thought of everything to make this an extra special place. We cannot thank them enough for sharing their cottage. If you are lucky enough to spend a week or two here relax and enjoy every minute!

Secluded and charming location
Let us begin with a special thanks to Gary, the owner. He made our reservation very simple and shared a wealth of information that would be helpful for anyone visiting this special retreat home. The property is not only relaxing but beautiful. There are so many sitting areas to enjoy the outdoors and beautiful views. It was very obvious all the special touches such as, the place setting for 2 at the window and the special jar of jam accompanied by a card. Very charming. Maine should be cherished by all! God willing, we would love to visit again. Thanks Gary.& Debi

GORGEOUS. Amazing house and owners.
My boyfriend and I have been trying different locations in Maine for the past three summers. This home in Brooklin was by far our favorite. This house is truly secluded and the property is beautiful and well manicured. There's a large backyard overlooking a sleepy cove and a hammock to die for. The photos don't do it justice. My boyfriend and I also loved the house itself. It was clean, cozy and equipped with everything we could ever want or need. There were ceiling-to-floor windows and a spacious deck with a view. The town, a short drive away, was also incredibly sweet. There are lots of beautiful bodies of water to explore and lobster at every turn. Gary -- he and his wife own the property -- couldn't have been more helpful and genuine. They're building a much larger house next door, which is just as beautiful and didn't obstruct the view or the cozy/secluded feel of the property. If anything, it added to the ambiance.
You must stay here. It's the best!!

A Beautiful Place for
We had a wonderful stay at Duck Cove Cottage this summer. The cottage is located on a beautifully landscaped property that provides seclusion and boasts a tremendous view of the water. The cottage itself is exquisite; the living room is both elegant and comfortable and the king size bed was the most amazing bed I've ever slept in. The kitchen is also loaded with every cooking accessory you could possibly need! The cottage is within minutes of the town of Brooklin and all of the fun little stores and eateries contained therein. My family has been vacationing in Brooklin for many years and I have never stayed in a rental that was more warm and inviting. Gary and Debi, thank you so much for opening your home to us! We absolutely loved our stay and we cannot wait to come back!

Fantastic Place
We spent an amazing week at Duck Cove Cottage while my husband attended Wooden Boat School in July of 2011. We felt at home the moment we arrived and did not lack for any creature comforts. The decor was lovely and inviting, the kitchen contained an abundance of items you would generally need and then went above and beyond with spices, oils, and extras you would not have thought of. This tranquil & beautiful setting soothed the soul and provided many photo opportunities! Gary came to the rescue when our flight was delayed by contacting our friends for us when we were not able to. Both Gary and Debi were gracious and thoughtful hosts/owners. The community of Brooklin was quite close and Blue Hill was an easy drive away. Whether you were in the area to relax, attend Wooden Boat School, seek adventure or just get away from it all, Duck Cove Cottage would serve you quite well.

Duck Cove Cottage
We loved our week in this secluded, cozy retreat. It was everything that we had hoped it would be and even more! The beautiful, restful setting was perfect for days of exploring the surrounding area, hiking, and just relaxing in the quiet environment. We are anxious to return again, perhaps a little earlier in the year to enjoy warmer, summertime activities, like kayaking. Gary and Debi have created a wonderful, relaxing environment with all the comforts of home!
