About this cabin rental
Island park is currently under a burn ban. NO FIRE OF ANY TYPE ALLOWED.
The Waystone Cabin is located in the heart of Island Park (in the Mack's Inn area) and is just 20 miles from West Yellowstone and Yellowstone National Park.
The West entrance of Yellowstone is now open! It's a great time to visit the park with fewer people. We also completely sanitize and disinfect the cabin between each rental.
*Great for snowmobiles and winter getaways!
Now with new furniture for relaxing! New larger sectional sofa and two new recliners make the living space even better!
This cozy cabin is great for large parties and small gatherings alike. As you walk in the front door, you'll see a large kitchen fully equipped with everything you need to stay and be comfortable (including utensils, pots and pans, dishes, and a Keurig). In the middle of the kitchen is a large island that seats six, making it a perfect place to cook, eat, and talk.
Next is the living room. It features a huge sectional and a 65" HDTV with streaming options for a variety of shows and movies. There's also an additional seating area with a bookshelf full of books, games, and movies for your enjoyment.
The cabin also includes high-speed internet—with unlimited data! You can stream, surf, and watch to your heart's content. All included with rental!
Also on the main floor is a full bathroom (shower and bath -- shampoo and conditioner are always available) and a laundry/mud room with a washer and dryer. You can take off your boots and snow clothes here after a long day on the trails or wash your swimsuits after taking a dip or floating down the nearby Henry's Fork River (just a block away)!
As you walk up the stairs, you'll come to a second living area with a queen sofa bed and a second HDTV and a DVD player. This a great place for kids to take some quiet time while the adults lounge downstairs.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms: three queen beds and one king bed. There are also sleeping mats for younger kids to sleep on the floor.
There are both front and back decks and balconies off each room—perfect places to drink your morning coffee and watch for wildlife (we often see deer, moose, and birds, with occasional bear and fox sightings).
The cabin is on a full acre of land, keeping you secluded from the neighbors. But it's still within a two minute drive of a gas station/C-store. And Big Springs (a definite must if you're in the area) is just four miles away.

Loved it. Will be back.

We were a group of 8 and enjoyed every minute of our stay! There is plenty of room in the house, many facilities, books, dvd, and the fireplace is just wonderful. The house is very clean and has all you need. We were sad to leave.

This cabin was well equipped for a family gathering. Planning is necessary since the cabin is located in a remote place, with few options for buying what is needed. The cabin is well equipped for cooking your own meals, the sleeping arrangements are comfortable, and there is plenty of space for everyone. The host is very responsive when a problem occurs. while we were there, Yellowstone National Park closed because of flooding, so we were left with finding alternative activities. The cabin environment helped us deal with the change in plans and all went well for our family of 11. We would love to come back in the future.

The house was even better than it looked in the pictures. We had 6 adults and 4 kids, ages 8-15. The space was perfect, beds were comfy, and only a quick 20 min drive to the West Yellowstone entrance.
Had everything we needed for our 4 night stay! The only negative thing we experienced was dirty dishes from the previous guest. It looked like they had just rinsed the dishes and put them away, we had to wash a lot of them before using.
All in all, fantastic place!! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet stay for your family near Yellowstone!

Our family had a pleasant stay at this property. It was very clean, and had everything you would need to cook a decent meal. It was nestled in the woods, and was very quiet and pretty. It was a short drive to Yellowstone where we spent most of our time.

Overall a great place. Had everything we needed in the kitchen. Was cleaner than most VRBOs we have stayed in. The counters didn’t feel very clean when we arrived and all had to be cleaned off. Other than that it was great. Great location and lots to do close by and farther away.

The house it’s self is nice. We had a power outage one night and couldn’t figure out which power company to contact. The owner and caretaker never returned our calls (ended up being a local outage). It’s spacious and just far enough away from Yellowstone to distance from crowds.

We loved staying here! Felt like staying in a family cabin. Lots of places to sleep. Kitchen had everything we needed—including a crockpot! Lots of dishes, pans, utensils, mugs, etc.
Bathrooms had shampoo and conditioner. Laundry soap and dryer sheets provided.
LOTS of towels.
There was no master bathroom—both bathrooms are in hallways.
Taking out the trash was not a big deal. It is cheaper if you bring cash ($3 vs $4.50). Very reasonable and only took a bit less than 15 minutes total to do it.

We stayed in the Waystone Cabin during a short weekend trip to Yellowstone National Park. The cabin is in Island Park which is about a 30 minute drive to the west entrance of Yellowstone. The property manager was flexible with our check in and check out times. We had a great time. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. It is well stocked with everything you need. I would stay there again.

They charge you for the cleaning service but they don't take care of the garbage, they want to charge you an extra 50 dollars if you leave the garbage to them, I live in salt lake utah and I had to bring our garbage from island park, this is stupid, they should put the notice in its description and so people can choose between going, renting and paying an extra 50 dollars just for the garbage or simply not renting the cabin

Summary Of Our Stay
It was very nice to have a stocked kitchen, where all you have to bring is food. Their countertop ice maker, is amazing!!! The bathrooms were stocked with shampoo and conditioner in them, which also made it nice. I questioned the cleanliness of the place when the floors and the mirrors were dirty. The closets were a mess, with the extra sheets and towels, looking like they were thrown in there versus folded and put away. I had an 8 month old with me and I decided to use the pack-n-play they offered. This was a bad choice as the bottom mattress/piece was broken, in several places. I ended up having to fold several blankets to make it so it wasn't too uneven/uncomfortable. My 4 year old wanted to watch some of the movies, they had to offer. Atleast 5 out of the 8 he picked, only had the bonus movie and not the featured film. The downstairs shower emitted a high pitch noise while being used and the upstairs show didn't have any pressure. I was concerned with it not having any AC, as our stay was in the beginning of July and were we live, and it is in the 90s. It isn't needed as it stays pretty cool. They highest it got was 76. It wasn't terribly far away from Yellowstone and maybe took a total of 40 minutes to drive to the entrance. I reccomend that you do any grocery shopping in Idaho Falls, ID or Boseman, MT as the stores in Island Park and West Yellowstone are all priced very high. A weeks worth of food for 5 days of breakfast, sandwich stuff and 2 dinners were $210.00 (hamburgers and spaghetti). A 12 pack of soda was $7, 1 pouch of baby food was $1.60 and a small package of maybe 6 slices of cheese was $4.50!!!

End of Stay Shortcomings
The property was clean, well appointed and convenient. I would suggest though, that the owners don't threaten the renters with a hefty fee if they don't bring their trash to the transfer station. We had only one trash bag and did make the 4 mile trip to the dump where we were weighed in and out, drove up a hill and had to throw our trash bag into a pit all the while being surround by swarming seagulls. We were charged a fee for this pleasure. I think this policy is an unnecessary burden on the renters. In addition to the trash policy we were required to strip the beds and leave the linens in the wash room before departure. Isn't that what we were paying a cleaning fee for? I hope the owners rethink these policies as they would leave me less likely to rent their house again.

Convenient and affordable location outside Park
20 miles away from the West entrance. Affordable prices. Cabin is nice and equipped with everything from kosher Salt to Lord of the rings DVDs. There are space heaters in the rooms and heating in Kitchen and living room area.
Good communication from the hosts all the time and they made sure the cabin was ready before we checked in even though the previous guests were late for checkout.
I would recommend this cabin anytime.

Spacious cabin and good location. Not well kept or cleaned
After reading all the good reviews we booked the cabin and were looking forward to the vacation. We give it 2.5 stars Here are the pros and cons of the cabin.
Pros:
- Spacious
- Good kitchen space - we were 8 adults and it was great to sit at the island and eat and have a good conversation
- 2 bathrooms - one upstairs and another downstairs
CONs
- Not well kept or cleaned - dust is everywhere which shows that it hasn't been vacuumed in a long time. The brown carpet hides the dust but you can see it in on the fireplace and all corners as your u walk around.
- a very dirty wet towel welcomed us into the kitchen as we opened the door. You could smell the wet moldy smell as you walk by
- in the bedrooms, all pillows and bedsheets were with stains and looked like they were left from previous guests.
- the drier had a load of bath and kitchen towels and a panty when we opened it. This is the first place we have stayed at where laundry was left for the guests.
- lastly one room on the east side had bulbs that were out. We replaced one bulb but the other was stuck in the socket
- no body wash in th bathrooms but there were 2 shampoos in one bathroom and 1 conditioner
- the dish washing liquid was almost empty with no replacement to be found in the storage or cabinets
After finding more than two issues as we settled into the cabin, we receached out to the contacts listed on the list in the kitchen and Meghan Potts who is listed as the owner on VRBO
It took us 45 mins to get in touch with Meghan Potts and that too she only texted after we left 1 vm and sent 2 text messages. She initially said the place was cleaned. When we sent her pictures of the issues, she asked that we wash the bedsheets and pillow cases and she would refund the cleaning fee. This is not how we intended to start our vacation especially since we got to the cabin after a whole day of travel. We did the laundry and fixed the bulb issue. The drier isn't working well so it took us over 4 hours to wash and dry 3 loads of bedsheets and pillow cases
We were exhausted the first day but after that the stay was ok. Meghan never checked in. We have stayed at many air bnb type of places, this is the first one with many issues. It's a great cabin if it can be looked after.

Large, affordable, comfortable
We enjoyed our stay at this home located 30 minutes outside Yellowstone. The home is on a larger lot with lots of trees and the possibility of wildlife - very quiet! Kitchen was well stocked - loved the Keurig. No dishwasher - but not a problem this trip since we had plenty of hands to wash dishes! Response time from the manager is awesome!
Some observations:
Bath towels were looking kind of dingy and were not soft (not a hardship - just an observation).
There was only conditioner available in the showers - no shampoo.
Also - the instruction binder needs to be updated. Some of the instructions (regarding dumping the trash) are out of date and caused a bit of concern. However, a quick call to the manager rectified the issue and all was fine.
It may sound like an inconvenience to have to go to the dump with your trash but it really is a simple task. Dumps is close by and the task is a snap.
Overall a good value for a family or group looking to explore Yellowstone or the Island Park area. Close enough to see it all... yet far enough away to be away from the bustle and relax!

We so enjoyed this lovely home away from home. It was so accommodating and easy to be there with our whole family. We wished we weren’t so busy going other places and could have just stayed in and enjoyed being home. Highly recommend it!!!!

This cabin worked out perfectly for a week with our daughter and her family. It was clean and spacious. The boys had plenty of space to do their own thing without feeling underfoot. We enjoyed the private open space outside and the campfire, too. I was amazed that we had ample hot water for 7 showers and laundry! The beds were comfortable and I enjoyed being able to have the windows open at night.

Wonderful 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom magical cabin set in the woods.
Our stay was absolutely fabulous! We came over Christmas and just might have to make it a tradition. It was magical! We had 10 people and more could have come. The cabin has 4 large bedrooms, 1 king bed and 3 queen beds. In addition it has a full size pull out couch. 2 great bathrooms and a big laundry room too. My husband loved the huge tv with WiFi hookups. We watched movies, snuggled, played games, played in the snow and decorated the cute little trees in each room with homemade ornaments. Bring lots of snow clothes if you plan on playing outside, but as for inside we were never cold. Cabin heats up wonderfully and there were lots of space heaters. It has a huge kitchen with all the pots and pans you will need. You can bake all day! All you need to do is bring your food. Oh my if you need to get away this is the place to come. We would defiantly choose Waystone again! Fabulous!
