This home is a perfect retreat when you need rest. The outdoor spaces are perfect to watch birds, hear monkeys, experience the vegetation and enjoy fresh lemons and coconuts!
We only left to attend a wedding otherwise we simply enjoyed the home and the rain forest.

I have stayed at a lot of VRBO properties and this is by far one of the most unique & amazing. Very clean & comfortable. There are a lot of areas to spread out & enjoy your stay. My favorite was the raised deck above the parking area. Very Clean. Well appointed. Easy to codes & key for access & security. The host, Gloria was amazing, friendly, professional, responsive, & extremely helpful. The delivered local foods were unexpected & very very thoughtful. If you are reading reviews trying to decide whether to stay here or not, book it, you will not be disappointed.

I've been having the best experience of my life here in this beautiful paradise. To start, Mrs. Gloria is a lovely person who is always attentive to our needs. She answers all my questions promptly and is super friendly. Yadi and his family are incredibly kind and their breakfasts and meals are delicious, especially the rice pudding. I haven't enjoyed meals this much in years, I absolutely loved them. Manuel and his family are also very loving people, making us feel like a part of their family. Their cheeses and cow's milk are spectacular. Gloria's house is so peaceful with the most beautiful views we've ever seen. The toucans, monkeys, and the variety of bird species make it feel like a place out of this world. The waterfalls and views are the best. When I return to Costa Rica, I will definitely be staying here every day. Why look for more when you can have it all in one place?
See you soon đšđ· Pura Vida â„ïž

This was a beautiful property inside and out. We loved the space. It was comfortable and clean. We loved exploring outside too. Perfect for our family to spend time together. Gloria was a wonderful host and helped us whenever we had questions about the area. Definitely a perfect set up for our family of 6!

We absolutely loved this house, grounds, and location. The owner has thought of all the little things that make a house feel like a home. The huge outdoor porches with comfortable tables and chairs while looking at the Poas Volcano in the distance is a dream come true. Howler monkeys talked to us every day and the bird life surrounded the entire area. We really did wake to Toucans and Monkeys. If you want a place to stay that youâll always want to come back to then this is it. Owner Gloria goes above all expectations to make this both comfortable and unique. Wish we could give it 10 stars.

Such a perfect, clean, and private location that suited our family's needs. We walked the trail to the river several times during the day and night to observe the wildlife and photographed so many birds, insects, reptiles, and amphibians. We could have spent the entire week here!

The best place we have ever stayed! Everything you need and more!. Relaxing, hiking trails, rivers, monkeys, toucans, and many more beautiful birds to watch. The property is absolutely stunning. The home was exactly as stated and more. The pictures can not do it justice. Gloria, the host, was equally awesome. She goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is great. We have stayed in a lot of VRBO properties and this was the best experience and communication ever! The meals prepared for us were a real treat. Already planning our next trip there. Would not stay anyway else in Costa Rica!!!

The nature that surrounds this property is breathtaking. Not only are the toucans there, but a host of birds are vying for your attention. Gloria will answer all your questions and offer you all the suggestions to enjoy the neighborhood to the fullest. Off the beaten track for those looking for nature and authenticity.

Our stay exceeded our expectations and was the best part of our trip to Costa Rica. Our hostess, Gloria, was amazing. She communicated in a prompt and caring manner to any questions.
We were greeted by the wonderful neighbors upon arrival. Warm empanadas when we arrived, breakfast prepared at our house the next morning and dinner with amazing neighbors. I truly felt like I had landed in Heaven. We will return and absolutely appreciate the opportunity to experience a piece of Heaven on earth! Do not miss an opportunity to enjoy this fabulous property.

Our children loved the unique character of the home. The view surrounding the home is amazing. There is a fun trail leading down to a river, beautiful garden with tasty fruit and we saw toucans. The host was very sweet and helpful. What a great place to stay.

Incredible experience
We had an amazing time here. The house has everything you could need - we were here for a month, so I do mean everything - and the property owner, Gloria, was promptly responsive to all our questions, and proactive in suggesting things to do and places to go. There are lots of great things to do in this past of Costa Rica, but the best part of the experience was the birds and animals right at the house. An unbelievable variety of birds - you really do have breakfast with toucans - and we heard howler monkeys every day, and saw howlers, capuchin monkeys and coatis. It was just incredible. It exceeded our expectations in every way.

Excellent!
This property is very beautiful! It is one
of the larger homes in the area with gorgeous landscaping and all of the comforts of home. The house is well stocked and supplied with many amenities to cook, clean, shower, relax, whatever you need to enjoy your stay. It was very clean and well taken care of. We enjoyed all of the nature and animal sounds as well as the fresh flowers and fruit from the gardens. There is a beautiful deck to enjoy the views which was just recently built. Gloria is a fantastic host, very kind and communication was easy and prompt. We met the locals and enjoyed an authentic dinner cooked by a local chef right at the house while we relaxed. Very nice place and an amazing experience for our kids 14 and 10. Canât wait to return again someday!

Absolutely amazing... Exceeded expectations
Exceeded my expectations since I have lived in the area previously. I would stay again and again and again. I actually didn't want to go. Gloria was super attentive and responsive and sent people to help almost immediately with very minor matters. Like one of the doors being tricky to open and the electrical storm taking the internet signal out briefly. (Just needed a reset). Area is very remote and isolated, However this is what we wanted and were expecting. Local stores require a long up hill hike and offer limited inventory, you"ll need a ride. There is a swimming hole nearby (car or long walk there). The neighbors are great. Super Pura Vida y tranquilo. The television wasn't connected to anything and I don't think it was a smart tv but we didn't make much effort to connect. Thank you Gloria!

Absolutely full of charm!
Our four nights in Gloria's home were sublime. The moment we entered the gate, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells, we were awestruck. Stunningly beautiful property! Within minutes of being there you become so entirely comfortable. It literally felt as if we could've been staying in our own Costa Rican vacation home, complete with all the cookware, dishware and utensils you could need. There are plenty of grocery options in the town of San Miguel, between the mini-supers, produce stands and the carniceria (butcher shop). The home oozes leisure. Perfectly quirky and artistic, from the saloon-style bathroom doors to a stone wall in the living room that "rains". Gloria could not have been more accommodating. Accurate directions/instructions, text responses within five minutes, and even warm empanadas awaiting our arrival. It was the perfect location for day trips to Del Toro waterfall and Arenal. It was everything we hoped it would be and more and extremely difficult to leave. Thank you so much, Gloria!

Toucan House= paradise
I can't say enough about how beautiful this paradise is. The house is so remarkable, with lots of glorious outdoor space. The aesthetic is so unusual and creative and welcoming. The jungle is right at your door: we saw so much wildlife. The minute we left, all we could think about was this beautiful house. We would love to stay there again.

So nice!! We arrived at night which was difficult. But found it! Quite a property. Large with a short loop trail in the lower foresty hill. Kitchen was stocked and sufficient. Games and books abundant. Showers were great. We came for three days in the middle of our 2 weeks to recoup. A perfect choice. Four kids played in the very resilient home with 1 multi-bed room and a Master + a loft that we outfitted with blankets and pillows for some children. Beautiful patio dining. The property is perfectly imperfect. so nice and a little rough. We locked up each night, closing the and locking the large sliding doors which took a small effort. the hammocks were a welcome retreat where each of us read for hours. Outside the kids were free to explore (with shoes). Average bugs, an ant here or there. The little fiber mites were abundant in some places but those are really no concern and you just rinse them away and wipe down the cookware before cooking. Lots of empty closet space!Easy texting communication with host which was super helpful the first night. What would I fix? I love house books--tips about how much we need to lock up at nighttime. secret light switches, groceries or restaurants in the area. How to run the faucet. I prefer not to bug the host with that kind of thing and pull from a house book if possible--but she was GREAT for us.Also, we were already in the forest when our second payment came due and I just saw it a month later with a reminder. Not a single complaint about that. So sorry--that's totally embarrassing for me. We would come back in a heartbeat!!!

Only 2 days at Gloria casa
A superb villa. The photos doesnât give a fait credit to the size of this house and all the original decorations. We all enjoy the character of this villa. Having diner under the giant porch was fantastic. The dinner served by the neighbors was a hit (deliver on time, wrapped in foil paper) very tasty.
Nearby I would recommend the gardens at La Paz waterfalls. It was a good family experience. Thank you Gloria for opening your house

A beautiful hideaway
Gloria made it easy to enjoy this wonderfully tranquil, lush and authentic spot off the beaten path.
You need to have a car to get the most out of the area, which is hilly and remote, but you wonât find a more gorgeous and peaceful setting. And the house is fascinating in its design and interior touches.
We will be back next time we want to get away from it all. Highly recommended.

Great family house
This place was fascinating and it is clear that the owner has a wonderful artistic eye. Funky is the best description. The house is well-maintained and was very clean. The bathrooms were large and spacious and the kitchen was more than adequate. There is plenty of room for an extended family to have their own space if needed. We ate all of our meals on the porches and the house is centrally located so access to local attractions was not a problem.

This home is bigger, has more to offer than shown.
My biggest regret is we did not stay longer. It is one of the best values in Costs Rica. I canât say enough about how Gloria made our stay perfect. Some things especially helpful:
1. All the dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, silverware, etc you could need
2. Washer and drier plus free soap was great
3. The grill included charcoal. đ„łïżœ
4. TV had dozens of English speaking channels
5. WiFi was outstanding
6. Paper towels and regular towels a plenty
7. Clean and more open than we thought from the pictures
8. They have a ladder platform that allows you to step up and cut a coconut from the tree. Which we did
They have banana trees, coco trees, lime and other amazing fauna
9. Hot water showers in very large bathrooms
10. Nearby town with restaurants, small supermarket, and we drove to the nearby zoo
There is a local young lady who does a one hour massage at the house for only 12,000 colones (about $21). Another outstanding value
When you consider the price, it would be hard to beat the value. We highly recommend this Vrbo property

Unbelievably Amazing
We were beyond please with this place, we spent two and half weeks here on and off, the beauty and abundance of nature contrasted with the beauty of the town, people and service went beyond our expectations, by far our favorite place so far in our yearly vacations to mi Tierra... we are so grateful of the existence of this place and the people who made our trip so wonderful with their sweet hospitality , truly heaven in tiquicia. Thank you again for everything. Stuff to check out the mi cafecito place, with itâs top typical Costa Rican food and amazing service, the small river after the rio sarapiquĂ was an amazing experience for all the three of our children ( 12 months, 5 year old and 8 year old), the day trip to the waterfall and then to the serpentario in La Virgen, the food there also delicious, also the pizza spot in that same town, off the chain... we hope we will be able to come again soon.

Awesome artsy home
Fantastic home with everything you need! Very comfortable home with plenty of space both indoors and out. Gloria was very responsive and even helped arrange for someone to bring us an authentic Costa Rican dinner our first night. Great location to see and hear the jungle. We wished we had had more time to stay there.
Only cautionary note is arrive during the day, it's a little bit tricky to find at night ;-)

So private
Gloriaâs house is amazing , we only stayed for two days wish we had more time there. It was so nice just to sit on the side porch and listen and see all the birds. Her house is so clean and fully stocked,
everything is in working order. Thank you again Gloria

Wonderful experience!
We - family of 4 with 2 kids aged 10 and 13- spent one week at this amazing place and loved everything about it. The house is spacious, well equipped, beautifully and eclectically decorated, with comfy beds, hammocks and multiple seating options throughout. Set in nature lover's paradise - we enjoyed watching all kinds of birds from Toucans to parrots. Gloria is very responsive and helpful and an absolute pleasure to deal with. The house is a great base for day trips. We visited Arenal Volcano for some hiking, Finca Lodge Macaw Sanctuary and also did the Tirimbina chocolate tour. Had some lazy days at the house as well, and went for a refreshing dip at the river that is close to the house. If you want to get a taste of the real Costa Rica and its friendly people this is the place to go. Highly recommend! Hope to be back one day.

Garden of Eden
My wife & I spent nine wonderful days here. This part of our little planet is most certainly the Garden of Eden. Right on the property: parrots, both species of toucan, multitudes of hummingbirds feeding at natures feeders, and oodles of flora. Gloria's Casa is a unique and intriguing cozy, artistic abode. The neighbours are wonderful and welcoming. Ady & her family, next house down the road, are your contact persons there. A word to the wise: let Adidya prepare you some Tico meals, and do have her arrange with Rachael for massages. Your loss if you don't. We will most certainly be back.

Comfort in the Jungle
First time visitor to Costa Rica and it was fabulous. Casa de Gloria was all that I had hoped for. The house is beautiful, unique, and comfortable. It was a perfect base camp as we visited La Paz Waterfall Gardens and the area around Arenal Volcano. Gloria was very helpful in preparing us for the trip with activity and navigation recommendations. Make certain you have the Waze app on your smart phone when you visit Costa Rica!

My friends and I enjoyed Casa Natural View. It's well secluded and relaxing and still very close to Rio Celeste. It was perfect for us.

Unique home, beautiful property, great for nature lovers!
Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) stayed in this home for 4 nights. It was easy to find with GPS coordinates provided by the owner, Gloria. Communications with Gloria were excellent - from the welcome emails prior to our arrival to checking in with us to ensure we'd settled in. The house is spacious and well-stocked with housewares and some basic cooking supplies (oils, herbs and spices, etc). The grounds are beautiful with all manner of plants, some fruit trees, and even pineapples growing in various spots on the grounds. Birders will love the wide variety of bird species that can be seen right from the patio - we also saw an agouti (large rodent) walk through the garden daily. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a short drive away, and a couple of the waterfalls can be visited from the main road, without entering the gardens. The views from the road are spectacular as well. I would advise arriving during daylight hours as clouds/fog can take over the road at higher elevations making driving difficult. Highly recommend this home for a relaxing stay and a home base for day trips to the various local attractions/activities. We would definitely consider a repeat stay if we return to the area in the future.

Beautiful home in an amazing setting off the beaten path. Stay here to relax and enjoy the scenery
Gloria was a wonderful VRBO hostessâresponsive, informative, and extremely helpful when we accidentally locked ourselves out! The property was clean, well-furnished and well maintained, with more than basic kitchen necessities (and even sharp knives!) Would highly recommend this peaceful residence for an extended stay for someone looking for quiet surroundings in a beautiful house.

Amazing property that blends the indoors with nature!
Gracias Gloria! We loved exploring the grounds; simply a natural paradise at your doorstep. Perfect for bird watching every morning. We saw more birds here than on our tour! Awake to the sounds of howler monkeys every morning. Pura Vida!

Authentic Costa Rica experience
Our family of four really enjoyed their stay at Gloria's house. We had two nights at the beginning of our two week vacation in Costa Rica. In retrospect, three would have been better due to the number of things to do in the area. The house is on a paved road about a five minute drive from the town of San Miguel. Four wheel drive is not necessary for this home. The house is perched on the edge of a ravine with jungle all around. My daughter spotted toucans as we were unlocking the gate. We heard the howler monkeys on the second morning. Bird watching was very good here and the gardens were beautiful. We had alot of rain so we couldn't really enjoy sitting outside but ate under the covered verandah. The bedrooms would easily sleep two families with kids sharing the bedroom with bunks and a queen bed. The house is very artistically designed and decorated. The kitchen was adequate, but a few staples would have been welcome for cooking. I recommend stocking up on groceries first in Alajuela or San Jose as the grocery options in San Miguel are limited, as is dining. The restaurant nearby is only open on weekends. The beds were comfortable and air conditioning was not necessary here. The bedding could use a refresh, especially in this musty climate. Gloria was readily available and helpful by phone. If I could make a suggestion though, it would be to leave some instructions about the use of the house because there were alot of keys for the numerous doors and light switches were hard to find etc. and we were trying to figure this all out at night. Also the plumbing is a little touchy!
This area is an unsung part of Costa Rica that is off the tourist path. Gloria recommended the chocolate tour at Tirimbina nature reserve, which is half an hour up the road. All of us thought this was one of the best tours of our trip. It was excellent. I wished we could have done more of their tours. Dave and Dave's place was also excellent for bird watching in comfort and we saw two species of poison dart frogs there as well. La Selva is about an hour away for more bird and wildlife watching. We also stopped on our way there from Alajuela at Poas volcano and La Paz waterfall gardens, both excellent options. We would definitely return to Gloria's place on another trip to Costa Rica. Gracias Gloria!
