'Kachina Cay' is a place where families can bike to the beach on our complimentary 'beach cruiser' bicycles. A place where children can fish from our pier or kayak from our dock right into the wildlife preserve at Galveston State Park (we provide kayaks & life vests at no cost). This is a place where parents can relax in the hammock, knowing the kids & pets are playing safely in our fully-fenced yard; & a place where friends can enjoy a day of boating right from our slip or simply spend the afternoon grilling by the water or relaxing around our fire pit and waterfront tiki bar. .
Above all else, 'Kachina Cay' is a place to get away for awhile, relax, and enjoy life with each other!
Our private dock is equipped with an underwater fishing light to help draw in the 'big ones' after dark! Trout, red fish, drum, and several other varieties are frequently caught from our deck!

A note from the owners for parents traveling with small children... we have a 4-year old, 3-year old and 6-month old, so we know what it's like to travel with kids and have designed this home with them in mind. We've taken great care to ensure our home allows children to play safely AND allows parents to enjoy their vacation without constant worry. Lockable safety gates on both the upstairs deck and the fully-fenced yard help keep your children & pets safely away from the water and street. We also have a high chair and pack-n-play available for your use (just make sure to bring crib sheets).

Clean and beautiful dog-friendly property located in quiet neighborhood on a canal. Friendly neighbors, plenty of amenities for a family to enjoy. Nice walks and bike rides for bird-watching. Everything was okay, master bathroom had a strong smell from the shower curtain, need some plastic bowls with lids, deck ladder cut up the girls while kayaking but they still enjoyed their selves. Oh and the fishing light is real dim so they didn’t really get to catch any big fish.

This was our third time staying at Kachina Cay, and as always, the property was immaculately maintained and communication with Robin was easy with immediate responses. He is such a genuinely kind and positive person! My husband loved being able to hop in our boat and be fishing on the bay within minutes (had red fish for dinner nightly) and I loved the short ride to the beach for walks with our pup. The house sits on one of the loveliest streets and canals in Jamaica Beach, with a large deck for morning coffee and a downstairs hammock for afternoon naps. We easily achieved our goal of retuning home refreshed and revived.

We enjoyed ourselves in the slow pace of Galveston Island. The morning sunrises we fabulous. The breeze came across the deck keeping the air cool. The peace and serenity was just what we needed! The completely fenced area was perfect for Gus to run around safe from jumping in the water unexpectedly! It was a wonderful stay! And we would stay there again. ! truly appreciated the manager contact! He was helpful with any questions we had. Great place!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Kachina Cay! The home was beautiful and well-maintained, and our family was able to enjoy a relaxing, much needed vacation. Although we did not use the bikes, we took the kayaks for a paddle around the canals. It was awesome to have this opportunity! Robin is a great host and promptly responded to our emails from the time of our booking until the day we left. This was a wonderful place to stay with lots of amenities, and we cannot recommend it highly enough!

Robin provided great recommendations in the area including a phenomenal fishing guide. While we are kinda ready to go home and get back to reality, we all felt at home on vacation.

We enjoyed our trip to Galveston with our family. This was a much needed vacation for all of us. We brought the fur babies too. Everyone felt at home. The home truly had everything you would need to feel at home. The family and doggies next door were very friendly and shared some local information for us. I use Vrbo a LOT- and in this same area- this was by far the easiest- cleanest stay! Simple and easy. The gate for the dogs was a HUGE bonus!! The kayaks and fishing… ❤️ so clean and simple yet any and everything you need. Just what we needed after the madness of the holidays. Thank you for sharing your home! The house is wide open, welcoming and has all the amenities one would need. Robin was very helpful and responsive. The fishing/boat dock with the underwater fish light was so much fun to watch with anticipation. The beach is literally just a mile down the road and it was so easy to pack up the truck and drive there.

This was a great stay! The house is in a great neighborhood with really wonderful neighbors next door. We had so much fun fishing and playing with the kayaks. The beach is close and town is far enough away for the neighborhood to be very peacefully quiet. We really enjoyed our stay.

The house was clean and in a beautiful location! The weather was cold, windy and lots of rain so we stayed inside most of the time. The rooms were very comfortable, the bathrooms well appointed. Big living room where we played a lot of Uno. Can’t recommend this place enough. Super nice and accommodating hosts as well!! I will certainly be coming back.

We love Jamaica Beach and this canal is our favorite. The house was nice and clean. Yard was great for our german shepherd's. We caught a lot of fish off the boat dock. We always rent a golf cart to run around the neighborhood and the beach. We made new friends with the renters nextdoor and had a BBQ with them their last night. Owner is easy to correspond with and very friendly. We would definitely rent this home again in the future.

We usually stay beach front but now we love the bay. Loved the bikes to ride, and the kayaks. We rented a golf cart to ride to the beach. The setup of the house was perfect and very nice neighborhood. We will be back😊

Cozy little house
It was a nice home for our short stay. We didn’t catch anything outback but it was still fun. About 20-25 minutes from Walmart and the pleasure pier. We had a few issues with the bikes and some fire ants but the host replied immediately and took care of everything. Thanks for a drama free stay!

Best canal house ever!
We thoroughly enjoyed this nice quiet area. Right on the canal. Our grown children loved kayaking right off the dock! Plenty of seating for everyone in the nice open living/dining/kitchen area. Kitchen is well stocked too. This house was super clean too. This house is a little far from the beach, but you could walk it if you wanted. We rented a golf cart during our stay and used it for back and forth to the beach. We have always rented a house on the beach, but I think renting a canal house was even better!! We liked not being around the noisy beach crowd. The only complaint any of us had (and not a major one) was 2 of the bedrooms were a little small. The master bedroom was a little tight with our dog kennel, but we made it work. After all, we were only in there to sleep. We spent all our time outside on the wonderful decks or at the beach. *I would highly recommend a gas grill as the grill provided at the property didn’t work well for our family size. It’s a grill you would see at a state park (no lid and small). We ended up taking our meat back inside to finish cooking, as the wind was blowing and we had no way to control the heat since there wasn’t a lid. BUT we absolutely loved this house and would definitely stay again!! It’s location was perfect for us.
