So unique!! Nick, property manager, was super communicative and helpful. House was well stocked with all kitchen and linen items needed. Our seven adult family members really enjoyed the very private pool. Views of the city from all sides are incredible from the 1200' altitude. Roads to get there are not flat or straight, but the small pain was worth the big gain. Will definitely stay there again if in LA!!

Ever want to live like a 1950’s movie star? Let your imagination run wild between this mission style home, the gorgeous pool, and if you are really lucky the smog will get blown away revealing the mountain range out every window.

We have loved this property, it was clean, had everything we needed including coffee, plenty of towels, lots of dishes, even hair mask (!), clean pool which we didn't get to use due to our schedule. I would 1000% recommend this property to anyone looking to stay near the area.

Overall, our stay at this proper was a mixed bag. The location was absolutely stunning, as it was nestled atop a mountain, offering breathtaking views. It truly felt like a serene getaway. However, there were a few drawbacks that affected our overall impression.
Let's start with the positives - although the kitchen was a bit dated, it was well stocked with all the necessary items. It would have been a delight to cook in if not for the functional issues with the stove/oven. Unfortunately, it wasn't fully operational, which was inconvenient.
The bathrooms had been updated, which was a plus. However, there was an important detail that wasn't disclosed in the property description - we discovered signs stating that excess toilet paper should be placed in the trash, not the toilet. It would have been helpful to know this in advance, as it could influence one's decision to stay at the property.
One of the main drawbacks of our experience was the property manager. Unfortunately, he wasn't the friendliest or most accommodating individual. He didn't provide sufficient explanations regarding certain aspects of the property, such as the keybox, and he didn't allow for early check-in, which could have enhanced our stay. Additionally, when we inadvertently left a few items behind, his response was not accommodating. Instead of finding a suitable solution, he simply left our belongings in a trash bag and left it at the front door, which was disappointing and unprofessional.

I rented the property to bring my extended family together for Thanksgiving. The property is amazing and full of old world charm. The retro professional kitchen met all of our needs and we had more than enough dining space for 8. We will return to this gem.

House was a bit dated downstairs ...and the landscape was somewhat under repair ...but it worked out fine and we enjoyed our stay ...

The home itself is beautiful but both the sheets and towels had stains. The home owner brought out some new sheets which was very nice but first impressions are lasting . Hope this review helps evolve improve these issues for future quests .

The castle is as advertised and the views are amazing. Getting there is pretty scary due to the curves up the mountain but once you get there, the castle and views are awesome. We were a family of 10 and all fit comfortably. My only issue was a drainage issue in one of the showers. Otherwise the castle was very cool to stay at and we enjoyed it. Thank you.

Really no complaints on the renting process, and the communication up until the day of the rental. The rules seemed pretty straight forward, send the owners of the property which happened to be a third party management company called, ‘Evolve’ a picture of my ID 48 hrs before check-in at 4p to get gate code access and lock box instructions.
This was done on my end, and then nothing was ever communicated back to me. The day of check-in, still no information on gate code access, or lock box instructions. So naturally, I called the number that on the contact page. Turns out the gentleman I spoke with was the manager of the cleaning service that Evolve uses when they turn over the house after guests complete their stay. He said that he never received my ID photo, and for me to text it to him because it’s easier. I replied, “no problem” and sent a follow up.
Close to the check-in time, I still received no confirmation, no information about gate code access, or any lock box instruction. I called the gentleman that I had correspondence with earlier and he said that there would be no need for any of that because the cleaning crew was still turning over the house, and that they’d let my party in.
As I mentioned before, check in was at 4p and we arrived at the property around 4:30 to give a buffer of time for the cleaning crew to finish the home. They were still not finished cleaning the house. My party and I decided to leave the home to give the crew more time to finish. We came back at 6p and the cleaning crew had just finished up (2 hrs after check in). They unfortunately still did not leave me any gate code information, nor lock box codes. I did not realize this was a problem until more of my party made their way to the house and were locked of the gate that I didn’t have codes to( gate was open while the cleaning crew was there). I had to call the cleaning crew manager again and get the gate codes after about 20 mins of waiting.
On check out, the cleaning crew manager still did not think to give me lock box codes for the keys until the absolute last moment as we were trying to leave the property. There was no binder or Manual for myself to familiarize myself with the house, even any first-aid location instructions in case of emergency. No reimbursement for the 2 hrs of time I was not able to be in the house due to cleaning.
Simply put, this rental was way too expensive to have this many hiccups.

We had a wonderful time at the Castle. Very nice, historic, yet modern location to stay. Rooms, bathrooms, kitchen and pool were nice.
Would love to rent again.

Good place and close to Rose Hills
Good place. Could use some updates in cookware provided and other amenities. There are signs in all the bathrooms that say to put the toilet paper in the trash can.
If you need a stove, then know it is an old style that is not spotless.
Lots of space to spread out and hang. We enoyed our time at The Castle.

Lovely Spanish style vacay away from it all
Beautiful Spanish style home. The house is pretty far up into the hills which provided some beautiful city views. Very secluded, private and quiet. Gorgeous upgrades to the bathrooms. I wish the kitchen was upgraded. The stove and oven were very old. Being an older home, it was a little dusty. Towels provided were very low grade. Bring your own towels. (I usually do that anyway.) Overall, I enjoyed my stay!!!

Really enjoyed staying here. We had a Cal Poly graduation to attend, which was the only time we left. Everyone enjoyed this classic and classy castle.

The Castle
Loved our stay at The Castle. The views cannot be described, they are second to none. The drive up and down the mountain was always lively, many white knuckles (but you get used to it). Coulda used a warning about the no flushing of toilet paper, but that's the only knock (and still worth it). Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

A true castle getaway with spectacular sunrise and hiking trails
We were a little bit apprehensive with this property at first due to stories and urban legends about the area but it all went away when we arrived at the property. The short uphill climb to the property can be challenging for some drivers but enjoyable for the passengers. The beautiful city lights will serve as your night light at nighttime and the beautiful sunrise is absolutely mesmerizing. The house will definitely bring you back in time, and watch tower is the place to get your sunrise reel and photos. We ended our weekend getaway with a short hike but for advance hikers there are many trails to choose from and all with amazing 360 views. Property manager was quick to respond and very accommodating to our needs. The pool is there for you to look at during winter but a hot tub would have been a great alternative. Definitely an experience to remember.

Charming Home
Overall we had a very pleasant stay. The couple issues we had were taken care of right away by the property manager that lives on site.
The views are amazing! I wish we had been able to spend more time just enjoying the home but we had commitments so basically only slept there.
It would be a great place to just go there, stay and enjoy.

Charming Home
Although we had a few hiccups the property manager who lives on site was very responsive.
It is a very charming home with excellent views.
I wish we could have spent more of our time at the home instead of the commitments we had off premises.

Loved it!
The property had a few cobwebs but with all the intricate woodwork and little nooks and corners, it can expected. The house is majestic and the history of the home was well preserved. I loved it! The on-site people were friendly but we didn’t need much because everything was very well laid out in advance. The drive was a bit scary the first time but actually less intimidating in the dark because you could see cars coming around the corners. I wouldn’t take more than 2 cars up there. We had 6 adults all reported sleeping better than at home which is a huge compliment. Thankful for the opportunity to experience it. Would return if given a chance.

Gorgeous Villa with excellent views
We stayed there with family (9 people) and this place is beautiful and well kept. Lots of amenities including the pool. Lot of room for everyone to sleep and lounge. Nicely stocked kitchen. The house is really nice and has amazing views. The check in process was smooth and the property manager was very responsive.

Great experience
My family and I rented this home for our stay in LA. The first time out there was at night and the drive was kinda intimidating. It got a lot better throughout the weekend. The house was big. Kitchen is dated. We didn’t use any of the appliances (besides the fridge). There was quite a few spider webs and a few other things that could have been cleaned but overall we enjoyed our stay. There wasn’t anything so serious as to reach out to the property manager. Everything went smoothly.

The Perfect Stay!
By far my favorite stay at any rental home. I had my wedding here at this beautiful home. I had some family from our of town and wanted to host an intimate outdoor dinner after our church ceremony. I rented the home and stay a few days before the wedding, the views are spectacular, and the home itself holds so much history. It's gorgeous!
The owner was amazing. Communicative, responsive and very helpful! He was such a delight to work with.
I would recommend this home for any family looking to have a small reunion or just need a little get away in the hills.
Love this place!

Surprised stay on a mountaintop
Enjoyed the castle. Surprised at the height. The pool wasn't heated so the water was cold. Saw a mouse. Overall: very quiet and peaceful. Spacious.

Wonderful And Fun Classic Large Home
The Castle at Hacienda Heights was an amazing property! The view was very beautiful and the rooms each had their own feel. A lot of the home was very old such as appliances and such, but this was not a bother for me or any of my friends as everything worked perfectly and it added a nice flare to the stay. There was lots of space and good room to explore and hangout for board games. Would definitely recommend this property for your stay!

Unique vintage gem
Secluded and charming property. Spacious. Pool not heated, so water was a bit cool, but still OK. Wonderfully preserved vintage 1920s home with modern baths. Kitchen circa 1965 also well preserved.

Home Away From Home
This rental is beautiful, has character, and felt like a home away from home for my family.

Such a fun house!
I absolutely loved the character in this house. It has plenty of room to roam, and even a little extra with a tower for a little meditation, or a late night city viewing. Every room has its own charm. Half of the house has been renovated, so the bathrooms feel very chic, but the house still retains its original Spanish style allure. The house was well-stocked and perfect for a weekend getaway gathering. It's pretty remote, which is perfect for what my party and I did: we hung out by the pool with some burgers + drinks. There is a grill! And when we ran out of propane, Bruce very kindly gave us a new tank. My only bad thing to say is the guests staying in the oak paneled room said it was a little dusty and dirty. But, everything else was absolutely spectacular.

Horrible
Everything was not the same as listed on the add grass was dry pool was dirty floors where dirty house smell dirty and need some major updates but overal not what i expected for my stay

Private property and overall good stay!
The house looks a little bit different from the photos. It’s much older than it appears and can get very hot in some areas of the house, as the AC doesn’t work too well. The pool has no steps to get in or out of it and it can easily scrape up your feet trying to do so. The kitchen is extremely outdated, the stove is so small and one doesn’t work so if you’re looking to cook while you’re here, that can pose a problem. Otherwise, the house is great for a group gathering and we definitely enjoyed our stay. It’s so secluded so you really feel like you’re alone. And the view is fantastic!
