About this house rental
La Vieille Magnanerie is located in a stunning small Gard village north of the famous Camargue's natural reserve and South of the Cevennes mountains.
You will immediately notice the beautiful hills covered with vine yards and olive trees, the rich Roman's empire vestiges all around. The Pic St Loup and the beginning of Cevennes Mountains. Throughout the very festive summer season you will be able to discover 'The Guardians' (French cow Boys) putting on spectacular shows with local bull's in streets villages & arenas all over the summer.
And of courses all this under great blue sky & full sun shine.
An incredible and diverse amount of activities on our door step from The Camargue's bulls & White horses. The Cevenne's caves, rivers and mediaeval villages.
The Roman empire vestiges with Pont du Gard, Nimes, Aigues Mortes,
Pic St Loup and its great wine or trying the art of Potteries.
The stunning beach of l'Espiguette is only an hour drive away from the house.
Our beautiful historical stone house has been extensively restored and is full of vintage chic and rustic charm.
It the perfect place for friends and family to spend time together, relax and recharge far away from the 9 to 5.
The house oozes character and has many truly original features including a Lavoir in the main garden - once the social hub of the village!
The ground floor:
The very ancien paved village street lead to a large quiet lounge, and pool table room and a fully equipped kitchen ( Large cooking hob, American Fridge).
The first floor:
Three very large ensuite with Italian showers and two double bedrooms with Italian shower & W/C on the landing.
All rooms but Metal room (2 single beds) are fitted with Air Conditioner. Each room has its own control device.
The house is also equipped with the latest WIFI 6 technology and provide a decent WIFI all around.
The private walled garden:
It contains everything you could want for a fantastic day outdoors - large decked heated swimming pool, Spring free trampoline, ping pong table, loungers, shaded eating area and your very own Boule Court!
The newly outdoor summer kitchen equipped with a plancha (flat hot griddle) & Asado Argentinian style BBQ will also be a great spot to hang around, sip a glass of wine whilst your dinner is slowly getting ready.
Around the house
L'echoppe du Suc is the village's local grocery store. It only sells local products, fruits, vegs, bread & pastries and of course wine & local beers! It usually opens 8-12:30 Tuesday through Saturday the summer weeks and 17-19:30 the rest of the year.
Great selection of locally grown fruits & veg straight from producers at rounds about near the house.

MOST IMPORTANT POINTS
The house is located in the very heart of the village within the ancient historical centre. Houses are embedded in one another and noise can travel far depending of the winds. The deep calm of the village can not at any point be disturbed by excessive noises from the garden. During the very hot summer days village people in the South all tend to open their shutters at dawns to let cool air inside and often keep windows open throughout the night.
Therefore the following points must be acknowledged prior to booking our property so you can fully relax and enjoy your stay:
NO NUSIC to be played outside and particularly around the pool area day or night.
Whilst the little ones ( and older one's too) can fully enjoy and have a great time in the pool & the trampoline, all excessives screams must be controlled and addressed by the parents.
If you fancy a midnight dip in the pool we will encourage you to do so but NO jumps, cannonballs, ball games or loud conversations.
And whilst some can fully appreciate the silence and the beautiful bright night sky, the night owl can have a great time inside the house playing pool, board games and enjoying a night cup without disturbing anyone sleeping upstairs or our friends and neighbours.
It is paramount that the above points are understood and followed.

2/ Flying drones is very regulated in France. It is therefore prohibited to fly drones in our garden without specifics authorisation by local authorities.
3/Please let us know if you come with electric bikes as charging them indoor can be a fire hazard.

Brilliant from start to finish! Such a stunning place to stay for all the family. We LOVED the accommodation, the character of the property, the outside spaces, the pool was AMAZING… everything about it. The games room was perfect for the evenings. The location, close to Nimes and Sommières, was beautiful and easy to find. The village of Combas is picturesque in every way. And a huge thank you to Ronan, Becky and Megan for such a warm welcome and letting us stay in their beautiful home.

Really really nice house, everything you need is there, or can be asked for. The host is very friendly, he is accessible without being too present. The town is absolutely charming, the people try to give you a welcome feeling. We really recommend this place!

We were a party of 9 adults and had a lovely week in the beautiful village of Combas. The house is a building of great character but has all necessary mod cons. Many happy hours spent playing boules and ping pong and relaxing by the pool

Even better than the photos! Three of the bedrooms have ensuite baths (one of these bedrooms has an additional bedroom that forms a family suite), and the other two bedrooms share a close by hall bath. Delightful pool, and kids loved the trampoline and pool table as well. Plenty of space for 6 adults and 4 kids (ages 2 - 17).
Loved the location from which we visited Nimes Arena, Pont du Gard and Chauvet Cave 2. Parking in the village was never a problem for our 3 families with 3 cars.

Lovely place to rest and spend time with family. A few things to note, the parking across the street is very limited. We were able to park there 3 times in 17 days. The garage would be for a small car if you can even get it in as the angle might be difficult. We didn’t even try. Bring your own shampoo and shower soap. The house itself is well decorated with interesting elements. We enjoyed the outdoor space the most.

The home exceeded all our exceptions. It was wonderful. Couldn't have asked for a better place to send time with our family and friends. Great place for children and adults. The decor was beautiful. The place was spotless. The hosts were quick to respond to all messages. I hope one day we can return.

We, an extended family of twelve, had a lovely time in this well kept and charming house! The garden is wonderful! Apart from hanging around the big pool, we also tried some activities in the area such as canyoning and parcour. The host Ronan is very friendly and welcoming, so communication works very well!

Wonderful, peaceful, tasteful
Amazing house with plenty of space for 2 families. The house is full of surprises and charming details, decorated with passion. While the house is old and has a great history, the kitchen and bathrooms are all modern, and the beds are very comfortable - a perfect combination. We hardly used the cozy lounge or dining room, because the best part of the house is the wonderful outdoor space, patio and pool area. Lots of places to relax - underneath the pergola, in the lounge area or in a deckchair at the pool. The kids loved the pool and trampoline. Ronan, the owner, is a very kind, helpful and customer focused host - and has a lot of passion for the place. You can feel it in every room, with all the little details and specials. We were welcomed with a chilled bottle of Rosé - what a great welcome after a long ride.
Combas is a small village with narrow streets - very neat and charming, and it has a small kiosk, that sells fresh bread, croissants and also some honey, jam, fruit and vegetable. Larger villages with supermarkets and great markets are nearby. Great experience to visit the markets in Sommieres and Quissac (just 10 min away). 45 min. to Montpellier, 20 min. to Nîmes, 50 min. to a great beach south of Grau du Roi.
We so much enjoyed that week, and hope to come back some time!

Un moment magique
Le processus de réservation et d'arrivée dans la villa se sont déroulés facilement (le propriétaire est disponible et accorde une grande importance à ce que notre séjour soit une expérience positive).
La villa est magnifique, très agréable à vivre, fonctionnelle (tout confort) et très joliment décorée.
Ces quelques jours passés en famille sur place resteront dans notre mémoire.

Excellent séjour dans cette magnifique et vaste maison
La maison est grande, très bien aménagée et décorée, beaucoup de charme, de même que le village de Combas avec ses petites ruelles authentiques et toute la région proche de Nîmes et des Cévennes. Le jardin est superbe aussi, la belle piscine, le mobilier de jardin, la table sous la tonnelle et le salon de jardin sous la deuxième et très originale tonnelle… parfait. Petite épicerie de produits locaux très sympas a 100 mètres, super pour aller chercher le pain frais à pied le matin! Tout le monde a adoré, des enfants aux adultes! Bref, nous y reviendrons!

Notre séjour s"est déroulé dans des conditions optimales , l'accompagnement et les échanges téléphoniques avec le propriétaire ont été exemplaires , sa disponibilité et sa volonté de nous servir au mieux sont très appréciables .
La demeure quant à elle est magnifiquement décorée, chaque objet est choisi avec gout et raffinement, de plus le lieu possède une histoire très riche.
Cet avis a été partagé unanimement par l’ensemble des personnes qui ont séjourné dans ce lieu .

Fabuleux !
Que dire, si ce n’est que cette Magnanerie est un site où le temps est passé trop vite ! Nous étions entre amis avec nos enfants et il y a tellement d’espaces, les pièces sont grandes et décorées avec goût, que chacun et chaque groupe peut y trouver son petit coin à lui. Il y aussi de grandes tables pour manger tous ensemble à l’extérieur à l’ombre de la vigne vierge ou à l’intérieur. Les chambres sont grandes et climatisées pour la plupart, la maison aux murs épais reste fraîche même en plein été. Et à l’extérieur, une grande piscine qui a été pour nous le lieu aussi où petits et grands se retrouvaient.
Ronan, le propriétaire, a été hyper réactif et efficace suite à une bête panne de lave vaisselle, vite réparé et avec la belle surprise d’un superbe panier composé de vins et fromages pour s’excuser de ce petit soucis !
Bref un séjour de rêve pour nous tous !

Une pause de 4 jours entre amis dans cette magnifique bastide décorée avec goût et très bien équipée ( une literie de rêve…). Un bonheur ! Tout a été parfait. Un havre de paix au coeur d’un petit village typique. Un jardin paisible et très agréable : le paradis des oiseaux. Nous avons vraiment apprécié notre court séjour et reviendrons dès que nous le pourrons c’est certain.

Un séjour parfait entre amis au coeur d'un village de charme dans une demeure de caractère. Tout y est pour profiter pleinement de la terrasse et de la piscine (grande table, bbq, transat..) Un petit coin de Paradis
Nous avons été très agréablement surpris par la qualité de la prestation de la maison de Ronan. Il s'agit d'une vielle demeure, au coeur d'un village très charmant, qui a été rénové avec soin et avec beaucoup de charme. L'espace intérieur et extérieur sont autant agréables à vivre l'un que l'autre. La maison est très spacieuse, bien agencée et vraiment très bien équipée rien ne manque. Nous nous y sommes de suite sentis très bien. La literie et le linge de maison sont de très bonne qualité. L'extérieur est également très spacieux avec un aménagement de l'espace et paysagé très bien pensée. Cette maison est vraiment un petit coin de paradis où il est doux de passer de très beaux moments en famille, car tout y est fait pour accueillir des enfants de tout âge en toute sécurité. Ce week-end nous a vraiment rempli de bonheur et cela en grande partie grâce à ce lieu si merveilleux. Nous vous remercions grandement d'avoir contribuer à ce merveilleux we dans votre si belle demeure pour les 1 an de notre petite fille Alma.

Un havre de paix
Ronan est un propriétaire avenant disponible et pleins de bons conseils. La maison est à la hauteur de nos espérances très spacieuse avec une décoration recherchée et harmonieuse. L’extérieur est tout aussi agréable calme ressourçant et très bien équipé avec sa piscine et les différents points de détente. Elodie (personnel de maison) est très accueillante et discrète. On recommande vivement cette maison pour un séjour entre amis ou en famille.

Super week end dans cette magnifique maison. J’ai eu un véritable coup de cœur dès les premières photos et la maison correspondait en tous points à ce que j’avais vu !!

Superbe maison, confortable et parfaitement équipée
Idéale pour les grands groupes d'amis ou familles, cette maison a répondu à toutes nos attentes : des pièces de vie spacieuses et conviviales, une piscine chauffée et un salon de jardin agréable pour profiter de la fin de saison, une cuisine parfaitement équipée et des chambres très confortables, tout ça décoré et meublé avec beaucoup d'élégance et de goût. Les modalités d'arrivée et de départ furent très faciles, notamment grâce à la très bonne communication avec le propriétaire.
Nous garderons un magnifique souvenir de notre séjour à la Vieille Magnanerie de Combas !

Amazing property
We spent a fabulous week in this amazing property. The interior is extremely spacious, with so much space for the 9 of us. The kitchen and dining areas were large and well equipped, similarly, the bedrooms and bathrooms. The decoration and period features made the whole property a joy to be in.
The outside space was perfect with several seating areas, including an outside table big enough to seat us all. The pool was large and inviting and very well maintained.
All in all, a fabulous property and would recommend to anyone.

Maison très agréable à vivre et très bien équipée. La piscine a fait le bonheur des enfants et des adultes. Corinne nous a très bien accueilli. Seul petit bémol, l’absence de commerce dans le village et un parking un peu lointain.

Très agréable séjour à la vieille magnagnerie. Maison de charme conforme à l'annonce. Jolie batisse ancienne bien décorée et fonctionnelle. La piscine est très agréable et sans vis à vis. Une semaine était trop courte pour bien découvrir la région. Nous reviendrons probablement.

Großartig Haus abseits vom Trubel
Wunderschönes altes Steinhaus, geschmackvoll renoviert, bequem und großzügig mit schöner Terrasse und Pool.
Garten und Innenhof wunderbar ruhig, herrlich nach der Hektik der Côte d‘Azure!!! Auch für Familien mit Kleinkindern geeignet, Pool gut gesichert. Man will Haus und Garten gar nicht mehr verlassen, nur lesen, baden, schlafen, kochen, plaudern und sich erholen. Combas ist ein sehr kleines Dorf, keine Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, machte aber nix, großer Supermarkt ca 10 min entfernt.
Aber auch sehr nette Dörfer ohne Massentourismus in Umgebung z B Markt in Sommieres wunderschön, aber auch viele Ausflüge in die Carmargue, nach Grau du Roi (beeindruckender Besuch der Arena mit französischem Stierkampf) oder in die Cevennen möglich.
Es hat uns dort sehr gut gefallen, für 2 Familie mit insgesamt 7 Personen massenhaft Platz!
Vermieter und Kontaktpersonen Vorort sehr nett und hilfsbereit!
Resümee: In Combas war viel schöner als die touristischen Hotspots der Provence oder der Côte d‘Azure!

Our stay at La Vieille Magnanerie is one that we will never forget. The house itself is tastefully styled and brilliantly equipped. Its setting in the centre of a beautiful little village called Combas was the perfect sanctuary for us. Most days we didn’t want to leave the comfort of the house, but when we did we discovered so many hidden gems in the local area — a particular favourite which we returned to more than once being Sauve, a little town teeming with artists and poets. I long to return to La Vieille Magnanerie and have recommended it to so many of my friends and family. A fantastic stay!

Très jolie maison de village, très spacieuse, très bien décorée et idéale pour petits et grands.
La maison est fonctionnelle aussi bien à l'intérieur (merci pour la Clim dans les chambres) qu'à l'extérieur avec un terrain de pétanque donnant sur la piscine.
Le propriétaire Ronan et son équipe (Corine & Joel) ont été adorables et à notre service du début à la fin !

De très bonnes vacances
Nous avons séjourné 2 semaines dans la maison de Ronan, qui est simplement superbe, très agréable à vivre et avec des chambres climatisées (bien appréciable en plein mois d'août) l'espace jardin et piscine sont supers. Il y a avait également un trampoline dernier cri, pour petits et grands, un régal. Toute l'équipe de Ronan aux petits soins, merci encore pour ce séjour
