Hunt Castle is a beautiful castle on a lake with a lot of toys - paddle boat, canoe, kayaks and fishing poles plus a pool and hot tub. My granddaughter caught 2 fish. Everything is right there

What a lovely long weekend we had at the castle. The grounds were beautiful and serene. The private beach had paddle boats, kayaks etc. and the pond was beautiful. The castle was clean and big yet cozy. The children’s playroom was spacious and bright with every toy you could think of including a trampoline! The crushed ice machine and hot tub were a big hit! There is a fire pit with a beautiful view as well. The caretakers were very nice and happy to accommodate. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to return soon!!

It's cool to be given the opportunity to stay in a castle with large grounds for relaxed leisure activities.
Great views. Secret passages. Princess tower all don't disappoint.
Property managers Mike and Mike were great.
Would love to have seen pictures of the property being developed.

The Castle provided everything we needed for a great time with our extended family, ages 16 months to 73. The basement Game Room was a hit — lots of activities for our Family Tournament of pool, foos ball, darts, ping pong. And poker in between at the poker table. The lake and private beach provided many fun days of sunning, boating, fishing, hanging out. The firepit and tables/chairs just outside off the kitchen was a lovely place to sit and enjoy the view, and cook our Smores. The kitchen was laid out well, and had everything we needed for preparing our family dinners. (Finding things was a challenge, as the kitchen had SO many cooking utensils/equipment and lots of cupboards/drawers.) The upstairs playrooms were a hit with our 4 children (and their parents). The furnishings and decor were top notch, creating a homey plus Castle-like experience. The towels provided in the bathrooms could have been of better quality (some were a bit threadbare with threads hanging off). Mike, the caretaker, was friendly and accommodating, responding quickly to any questions or issues we had. We highly recommend this location and accommodations!

My extended family had a great visit. The kids loved the play space and having access to the pool and beach.

We had a great stay at the castle enjoyed by kids, parents and grandparents. There was plenty of room for sleeping, dining and entertainment. The kids really liked the playroom and the hidden staircase. The outdoor space was also first rate, with spacious grounds, plenty of outdoor seating and two grills. We made good use of the hot tub, pool and disc golf course. The lake was larger than expected and perfect for kayaking. Overall, the castle exceeded our expectations and provided a very enjoyable family getaway.

This has to be the best time we’ve had as a family vacation ! The Castle was beyond expectations! Amenities off the charts!! Fishing was amazing! We can’t find anything bad about this place! Loved it❤️

The property is stunning. It’s a unique place to stay. It was great to have access to boats and paddleboards, and the game room was fun. Mike was very kind and got fishing supplies for my son (although we weren’t a fan of a 7:30am unannounced visit); but he was so thoughtful that it made it ok. The owners should remove some photos and knick-knacks for when guests will be staying; we’ve been to many vrbo’s that are owner-inhabited but they’ve all removed these items so it’s more guest-friendly. There were not enough bathrooms, but we made due. My main issue was a phone call from John (owner) prior to our stay where he swore at me and was extremely rude. It was distasteful, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. We opted to stay anyways, and fortunately the kindness of Mike made up for the unkindness of John.

The property is beautiful and has so many activities from walking in the woods and going out on the water to staying inside and enjoying the game room. Highly recommend!

Every convenience was there and the home and grounds/property were exceptional.
Can’t recommend enough and special shout out to caretaker Mike for the check in tour.

Rented the Castle for a Mom's get-a-way weekend to celebrate my 40th with 8 friends. The house and the property were fantastic and we had a wonderful stay. There was plenty of space so we could have our own rooms and sleep in. The kitchen was very well equipped and we enjoyed cooking together and exploring the castle and grounds - there's a great easy 45 min hike around the lake. Highly recommend bringing tiaras to wear in the hot tub while sipping mulled wine on a lovely fall day. Definitely looking forward to coming back with our families someday, there was plenty of space and activities for all ages to enjoy.

What a wonderful time we had doing a surprise 60th Birthday for my husband. there were 14 of us. The weather was great. so it gave up plenty of time to go and do some hiking. Everything you could need was at the Castle. The Game room and bar was awesome and we used often. Can't wait to rent it again.

We have so much fun at this house. Big enough to fit 16+ guests comfortably. Fun game room, large dining room, lots of bedrooms. But then quiet areas if you need some downtime. The grounds are great for long walks. Can't wait to go back!

Our family had an unbelievably fun time at the castle! The property is even more amazing than the pictures. We had a large group ages 1 - 82 (4 generations!) there for a long weekend and there was SO much to do we wished we booked it for a week. We held “family Olympics” over the course of our stay which included paddle boat races, kickball in the large yard, potato sack races, games around the giant dining table, fishing, ping pong, disc golf, etc. The kids had great fun having giant sleepovers in the playroom and playing hide and seek. My 16 month old loved saying “hi” every time she passed a knight statue throughout the castle. The pool was pristine (but chilly!) and we got a lot of use out of the hot tub!
It’s apparent they have a great cleaning crew for this giant place. At one point I reached way under a table in a corner to plug in a charger and there wasn’t even a speck of dust!
Mike, the caretaker, was so helpful and responsive anytime we needed him - not to mention he has a great sense of humor!
We typically plan a big family getaway for every other year, but we’re already talking about booking the castle again next year - hopefully for an even longer stay!
Thank you, John and Lynda, for sharing such a special place!

The best family vacation ever. The Castle is amazing inside & out, private, secluded and huge. Everyone in our family loved this place. We had our own private beach/lake area which we went to everyday. It's loaded with paddle boats, paddle boards, canoes, a floating dock, plenty of seating, a picnic table, life vests, fishing poles & a super clean porta potty. The grounds were beautifully landscaped with a playscape for the kids, tons of trails, bridges, a water fountain & a disc golf course. There was no need to leave the property as everyday was filled with something to do. We even played hide & go seek in the castle at night. The secret doors that led to a secret staircase was a big hit. The castle was super clean, beautifully decorated & provided everything we needed. The pool was big & crystal clear & the hot tub was super clean. They even had a great sound sysyem inside & out. Sitting around the fire pit at night was so peaceful. The grounds keepers were super nice & restocked the wood without being asked & they even cleaned the hot tub a few times. 17 of us in all ranging from 2 years old to 78 had a wonderful time here. I could go on & on about this place. One thing I would tell anyone who wants to go here is to only pack your clothes, food & bikes. Everything else is already here. Thank you Linda & John for sharing your beautiful castle with our family. Out of all the rentals we have done over the past 10 years this is the first time everyone wants to revisit again.

Our group of friends vacationed with our collective children (ages 3-10) and it was truly a magical stay. We spent hours by the lake, pedaling and paddling and jumping off the dock. The kids were able to play on the playground in full view of the adults as we unwound from the day. So much outdoor seating for luxurious mealtimes, and plenty to do inside the house so even a rainy day was not disappointing in the least. Pro tip: give your kids walkie talkies and let them roam free, the house is big enough with enough passageways that don't cross that this will amuse them for HOURS.

This property is amazing. My family and I had a wonderful time. Everything was just as it was listed. Mike the caretaker was as nice as could be. Stopped by in the morning to see if we needed anything. Answered all of our questions about the trails and the property. The paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks worked out great for us. We had a ball. The house is beautiful. Plenty of room for everyone. We felt like royalty. Thank you, Linda & John.

Simple amazing property and setting. The castle had EVERY SINGLE THING that you could want for a large group. The amenities kept our family entertained at the lake and the disc golf course and the castle was so fun. Room for everyone, different spaces to be quiet or party.
Everyone was amazed that a place like this was available to us.

What a wonderful time we all had, don’t hesitate booking the Castle it was a fun filled 5 day trip that we will all cherish for years to come. The host and caretakers were outstanding my grandchildren want to know when we are going back. There was plenty of room for all 21 of us ranging in age 1-68… There is an abundance of things to keep everyone busy. We are looking forward to returning.

Our family trip to the castle was an absolute dream come true! We've been going on annual family trips for years and this one will undoubtedly be a highlight that we'll fondly remember forever.
The amenities were plentiful. We had 6 kids there and they were over the moon with the playroom on the 3rd floor. They loved the secret spiral staircase from their 2nd floor bedroom suite to the 3rd floor.
As adults, we had our share of fantastic surprises too. The basement was an absolute delight with its pool table, card table, darts, and foosball. It became our go-to spot for evenings.
There were paddle boats, kayaks, and standing boards. There were life vests for all ages. We wished we had more time to explore the trails. The comfortable beds in each room were delightful after action-packed days.
The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. There are multiple fridges, dishwashers and sinks. I never knew how useful 3 sinks would be in the kitchen.
And what's a castle experience without some fishing? My 86 year-old father couldn't resist the opportunity and caught a big fish with the grandkids. The further into the lake you go, the more fish. We were practically hitting them with the boat paddles.
We highly recommend the castle. Thank you for an amazing time!

We enjoyed our time at "The Castle"! Finally a property that can accommodate our whole immediate family with plenty of room! We had our 4 adult children along with their spouses and their children (5 children under 3). Each family had their own space when they wanted to retreat from the rest of the family. The play room was a hit with the young and the not so young! Many fish were caught in the lake! A good time was had by all, with the exception that it rained almost the entire time we were there so our outdoor activities were limited. As far as reviewing the amenities of the property, it was WELL STOCKED in all areas.... from toys for the kids, boats and life jackets, to fishing gear, kitchen amenities, etc. One dishwasher was out of order at the time, and we could not get the gas oven to light, but there were 2nd options available so it did not hinder our cooking. The main issue we had is that 2 of the bedrooms did not have AC and it was almost unbearable in those two rooms (library and the bedroom beside the playroom). Fortunately, there were fans in the house that we used in those rooms to help. While the onsite groundskeeper/host was very friendly and accommodating to help us with any issues or places to go, it was a bit unsettling to have him just walk in the house each day without knocking (there are no functioning locks on the doors without keys which also made us very uneasy). Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Hunt Castle and appreciate the opportunity to visit!

We had 11 adults (28-50) & 6 kids, plenty of things to do on the property. We caught a ton of fish, played a few rounds of disc golf, and loved the basement and all the games on our rainy days. Kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, dishes & everything you need. Espresso machine, French press, tea kettle, coffee pot, crockpot & so much more!
Plenty of beds & towels. Kids loved the playroom, pool, hot tub and finding the secret passages.
Great service & groundskeepers were amazing. Greeted us when we arrived & gave us a tour of the castle. Very friendly & extremely helpful!
Thanks for a great family vacation!

This was our second stay at the castle and it was even better than we remembered! We are a group of 11 adults and six children. Our last day was 11 years ago before this group had kids. It was incredible to come back with the kids and see them experience, the wonders and joy of the castle. Mike the caretaker was fantastic as were the owners with communication leading up to our stay. Mike was accessible and ready to answer any questions that we had and appreciate his time. We got to experience all aspects of the castle and grounds. We had one day with excellent weather that we spent on the lake using the paddle boots, kayaks, and can use. We also utilize the outdoor patio lawn and fire pit. As there was a little bit of rain, we also got to take full advantage of the various indoor spaces, including the third-floor playroom and the basement bar. The secret passages are always a huge treat! You will find absolutely everything you need in this home within the kitchen, utensils, appliances, coffee makers, ice machine, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and can’t wait to come back. Thank you!

Everything about this stay went great! The castle is huge and there’s something to do for everyone. The 18 hole private disc gold course was a pleasant surprise. There’s plenty of beach/water front space and hiking trails to enjoy outside. The play room was perfect for the kids during the day, and the bar/game room in the basement was great for the adults at night. It was fun climbing the secret passage and up to all the different levels of the roof. The kitchen has every possible appliance and utensil you could want. Easy to cook for 15 people. You have plenty of complete and remote privacy with no neighbors anywhere close to you, but still less than 10 minutes driving to the stores and gas station. 10/10 would stay again.

The castle was exactly as expected.. huge, secret passages and rooms to explore, beautiful views, tons of outdoor space to enjoy and plenty of space indoors to stay entertained with toys for the kids and games in the bar for adults. We utilized every aspect of the castle. We were pleasantly surprised by the stock of food and ingredients left in the kitchen as well as every cookware you could imagine to cook with. The property manage, Mike, was amazing, he answered all of our questions and checked in with us frequently. The ONLY downside is that the location was difficult for many of our guests to find, which in part was due to snow conditions and it being dark when they arrived. Other than the initial arrival, the location is picturesque and perfectly remote for a family retreat. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we will be trying to book a summertime stay!

I can’t recommend the “Cadtle” enough! From the moment we pulled in we were in love. Our family started arriving shortly after. When driving up to the Castle you just get the feeling that you are meant to be there. We had (2) adults my husband & I, 6 grown children with their partners and 8 grandchildren all under the age of 11! We had plenty of room and the kids loved the 3rd floor play room. We also were able to take the boats out on the lake. All of us!!!! We had an adult dinner set up for Saturday evening and Woodbound Inn was fabulous in catering the event!!!!I can’t even begin to tell you what a fabulous time we all had. We have a large family and have done many trips in the past! We are defitely coming back! The grandchildren asked as we were all leaving if “we could come back tomorrow”. It is a wonder and large families willl feel very at home. Thank you John & Lynda. We will be back

We had an absolute blast at this beautiful property. The castle exceeded all expectations. Tons of cookware for huge family style dinners (there were 22 of us), a big yard for the kids to play on, a toy room with everything you could imagine, a fire pit with a striking view and a game room that fueled late night championships no can’t recommend this place enough, and Mike, the groundskeeper was the perfect host. He made sure we had everything we needed and was good for a laugh. Honestly between the hiking trails, the frisbee golf, the lake and everything else… you won’t even want to leave the property. Have fun!!!

We had a wonderful week! As advertised we never had to leave the castle; something to do within the home and property every day….just great!!
10.0 / 10.0
We spent a week with 7 families in total… we had kids ranging from 9 months old to 11 years old in our group. There was plenty of space - we didn’t leave the property the entire week - between the lard yard, the pool, the hot tub, the private reservoir, and the disc golf course every day was different - we even had a blast on our two rain days playing bird games and using the game room in the basement.
The caretakers, Mike and weekend Mike, were both friendly and helpful

The castle was absolutely incredible! The owners were very helpful with our questions, and the two caretakers (Both named Mike) were so accommodating and answered all of our questions. The castle came with everything you need! The beds were comfortable and the decor was perfectly suited to living in a castle! We used the lakefront everyday, and the kids loved the kayaks, SU Paddleboards and my husband even used the sailboat twice! We fished constantly and had a family kickball game in the yard. The Fungeon was perfect for nighttime festivities for all ages. The kids also loved having their own play area on the 3rd floor. This place is magical, I would recommend it to anyone!

19 College friends for over 40 years gathered for four days. The location is stunning, the outdoor patio area bigger and nicer than expected. The outdoo grass area was great for games plus small pool to cool off and hot tub.
Indoor, plenty of bedding for everyone, huge dining room and a kitchen area that easily fit 19. In general if your looking for something there are at least two... dishwasher, refirgs, sinks and more.
Our whole group recommends.
